Three Oman details to know first
After an IELTS test in Oman, the practical questions are when the result arrives, how to see it and send it on, and whether to ask for a re-mark or retake one skill. Three details come from IDP Oman's own site:
- The online view lasts 28 days. IDP Oman says so, and adds that this view should not be used as an official confirmation of your performance.
- Up to five TRF copies go out at no charge. IDP Oman says they are posted electronically to the organisations you list on your application form.
- IDP lists Omani organisations that accept One Skill Retake. The list is undated and changes (names below).
The rest of the page sets IDP Oman beside ielts.org and shows where they differ. Venues and paper-or-computer are on our Muscat page; ID, payment and moving a test are on booking IELTS in Oman; the comparison with a full retake is on One Skill Retake or a full retake.
Read in October 2026 from IDP Oman's pages and ielts.org. IDP Oman's results pages are partly generic, so only the sentences described under each heading are used. Rules change: confirm each point with your provider. This page quotes no exam fee and no test date.
British Council Oman is not covered on this page. Its own results, re-mark and retake rules were not read for it. If you sat the test through the British Council, read its pages for Oman, starting from its IELTS dates, fees and locations page.
Seeing your result: the 28-day online view
IDP Oman says you can view your IELTS results online for 28 days, and adds that this view should not be used as an official confirmation of your performance. Its test dates page describes the order for computer tests: you preview your scores online, then receive a paper TRF shortly after. So use the online view to see your scores, not as a document to hand on; for anything these sentences do not cover, such as what happens when the 28 days end, ask the centre where you sat the test.
When results arrive: IDP Oman and ielts.org give different ranges
| Source | Test type | What it says |
|---|---|---|
| IDP Oman, test dates page | IELTS on computer | Results released in 1 to 5 days, with an online preview and a paper TRF shortly after |
| ielts.org, results page | IELTS on computer | Results usually within 1 to 2 days |
| ielts.org, results page | IELTS Online | Results usually within 6 to 8 days |
| ielts.org, results page | IELTS for UKVI Life Skills | Results within 9 days |
Both are typical ranges, not promises. As general advice, if a deadline depends on your result, count from the longer end and leave a margin. ielts.org's table also lists 13 days for paper-based IELTS, but ielts.org announced on 5 March 2026 that, from mid-2026, it would no longer offer IELTS as a paper-based test, with exact timelines varying by market, so do not plan around that row. The Muscat page compares what the providers say about paper and computer.
Sending your result on: up to five copies at no charge
IDP Oman says up to five copies of your TRF are posted electronically, at no charge, to the relevant organisations you listed on your IELTS application form. The copies are tied to that form. IDP Oman's next sentence adds that further requests can be made, but there may be additional administrative charges, so ask your centre before you rely on further copies or if your list changes.
General advice: before you apply, list the organisations that need your result and ask each whether it takes an electronic copy and which date it counts a score's age from; by most institutions' policy a score is valid for two years. If you later retake one skill, the new form carries your other three scores from the original test, so ask how the organisation reads it. For what some Omani institutions publish about English, see IELTS and the General Foundation Programme in Oman and IELTS scores for study abroad.
Re-marking (Enquiry on Results)
A re-mark is a review of how a test you already sat was marked; you sit nothing again, and nobody can say beforehand whether a score will change. IDP Oman's remark page says reviewed results are available from 2 hours to 21 days after you apply, depending on several factors, including the number of sections re-marked.
Two limits that do not line up
IDP Oman states the limit for a request in different ways:
| Where | What it says |
|---|---|
| IDP Oman, remark page (introduction) | A six-week limit, counted from sitting the test |
| IDP Oman, remark page (FAQ) | A six-week limit, counted from the date on the TRF |
| IDP Oman, One Skill Retake page | To combine an Enquiry on Results with a retake, lodge it within two weeks of the original full test date for Listening, Reading and Writing, and wait for your remark status before registering the retake for the same full test |
This page does not try to settle which date is right: check your provider's terms and ask your centre which date it counts from. The two-week sentence names Listening, Reading and Writing; for Speaking, ask IDP. As general planning advice, if you might want a retake, treat the shorter limit as your deadline for deciding.
Delayed or withheld results
IDP Oman has a page on delayed or withheld IELTS results. Its first step is to contact the test centre where you took your test; the page is partly generic, so only that step is used here. That step applies however long the wait, so ask your centre.
One Skill Retake in Oman
One Skill Retake lets you sit one of the four skills again instead of the whole test. The table gathers what IDP Oman and ielts.org say; the general page covers the comparison with a full retake.
| Point | What the page says | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Eligible original test | A full test at a centre that offers One Skill Retake, and the full test must have been an eligible IELTS on computer test | IDP Oman |
| Time limit | Sit the retake within 60 days of your full IELTS test | IDP Oman; ielts.org |
| How many | Once per original test | ielts.org |
| Same provider | If your original test was with IDP, book the retake only at an eligible IDP centre, which may differ from the first | IDP Oman |
| Same passport | Use the same valid passport you used to book the original test. If you booked with a different ID, ask your centre which to bring (which IDs IDP Oman lists) | IDP Oman |
| Availability in Oman | Generally supported for IELTS on computer, but availability depends on the specific venue on your test date | IDP Oman, FAQ |
| Before the full test | Make sure your test centre offers One Skill Retake before you book the full test | ielts.org |
| Your result | A new TRF with your updated retake score and your other three scores from the original test; you choose whether to use the original or the new form | ielts.org |
| Cancelling the retake | A full refund of the retake test fee if you cancel 72 hours or more before the session | IDP Oman, reschedule page |
The refund line is for a retake you have already booked, and this page gives no refund amount. Moving or cancelling a full test, where IDP's own pages do not agree with each other, is covered on booking IELTS in Oman.
Plan before you book the full test
The two availability rows above point the same way: ask your centre before you book the full test, and count the 60 days from the original test date. Venue lists are on the Muscat page and on IELTS test venues in Nizwa, Buraimi, Sur and Ibra.
Omani organisations on IDP's acceptance list
IDP publishes a page listing organisations that accept One Skill Retake, country by country. Under Oman, as read in October 2026, it names, among others:
- Dhofar University
- German University of Technology in Oman
- Muscat University
- Ministry of Education - Directorate General
- Military Technological College - English Department
The same list also names other bodies, among them several colleges and a few companies, which this page does not name one by one. The list is IDP's, undated, and it changes. Appearing on it is not an endorsement by this page, and Band Booster is not affiliated with, endorsed by or partnered with any organisation on it, IDP or the British Council. As general advice, ask the organisation directly whether it accepts One Skill Retake for your purpose and which result it will read, your original or the retake. This page states no required score for any organisation.
IELTS Online
The conditions above start from a full test at a centre. None of the pages used here describes One Skill Retake for IELTS Online, a separate route (see IELTS Online at home in Oman), and the general page notes an undated ielts.org webinar transcript saying it is not currently available for IELTS Online, so ask your provider before you plan on it.
Where lessons with Mike fit
Band Booster IELTS is a private online tutor, not a test centre. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or partnered with IDP, the British Council, Cambridge, any university or any regulator, and it does not register you for the test, set exam fees or dates, issue results, request re-marks or book retakes: all of that is done with your test provider.
What a lesson offers is preparation. Mike holds the Cambridge CELTA, teaches from Hanoi and scored 8.5 in Speaking in his own IELTS (about Mike). Lessons are one-to-one, live on Google Meet in English, and can concentrate on the one skill you plan to retake: Speaking is practised in the real three-part format with feedback in the moment, and Writing is marked against the public band descriptors. Those pages are written for Vietnam, so ignore their prices. No band is promised: progress depends on your starting point and the work you do between sessions.
Price and booking from Oman
Oman is in a higher regional price tier than Vietnam. The booking page shows your price in your own currency, with the payment options, before you pay. A paid 30-minute trial can be taken once, on your first booking, there is no subscription or package, and you can reschedule at no charge up to 12 hours before a session; a cancellation inside 12 hours is not refunded.
