What the finder and IDP's pages show
Some IELTS test centre entries in Saudi Arabia carry a label next to the venue name, such as Females only, Males Only or Male & Female. This page reports only the labels that the ielts.org finder and IDP's Saudi Arabia pages state, as read on 24 October 2026. Lists change, so each row below is a dated snapshot, and the label on the provider's own booking page is the one to rely on.
We read three places: the ielts.org test centre finder for Saudi Arabia, IDP's Saudi Arabia test dates page, which lists venues, and an IDP venue page for Dhahran. On the finder cards and in IDP's list the label sits in brackets next to the venue name. The Dhahran page is different: the words Males & Females appear there in the page's breadcrumb, which reads IDP Dhahran - KFUPM Males & Females, while its main heading is just IDP Dhahran. The wording is not the same in all three places. The finder writes Females only, Females Only, Males Only and Male & females, IDP's list writes Male & Female, and the Dhahran breadcrumb reads Males & Females.
The labels, town by town
The table has one row for each entry we recorded, with the label copied as written, capital letters and punctuation included. It is not a full list of labelled centres in Saudi Arabia: a centre that is missing may carry a label we did not record. The Makkah row is the exception to the pattern, because its card shows no label (see the next section).
| Town | Provider and place, as listed | Label as written | Where it was read |
|---|---|---|---|
| Riyadh | British Council, at Princess Nourah Bint Abdul Rahman University | Females only | ielts.org finder |
| Riyadh | IDP, Tahlia Street test room | Male & females | ielts.org finder |
| Hafar Al Batin | British Council, shown as two separate entries (the finder's cards also spell the town Hafr Al Baten) | Females Only; Males Only | ielts.org finder |
| Arar | British Council, shown as two separate entries | Females Only; Males Only | ielts.org finder |
| Buraydah | British Council, shown as two separate entries | Males Only; Females Only | ielts.org finder |
| Abha | IDP, King Khalid University | Male & Female | IDP's Saudi Arabia list |
| Dhahran | IDP, KFUPM | Males & Females (in the page's breadcrumb; the main heading is IDP Dhahran) | IDP's Dhahran venue page |
| Makkah | British Council, a centre with Women's in its name, in the An Nuzhah district | No Females only label on its card | ielts.org finder, Makkah |
Our city pages cover these towns in more detail: Riyadh; Abha, Buraydah, Hail, Tabuk and other Saudi cities, which also covers Arar and Hafar Al Batin; Dammam, Al Khobar, Dhahran, Qatif and Al-Ahsa; and Makkah and Taif. For the country overview, see IELTS test centres in Saudi Arabia, city by city.
Read the label, not the name
The Makkah row shows why. The finder's Makkah results include a British Council centre on the Old Makkah Jeddah Road, in the An Nuzhah district, whose name contains the word Women's. Its card carries no Females only label. The label itself, not the name, is what the finder states, so this page reads no rule into a venue's name, and it reads none into a missing label either.
That matters when you compare lists. An entry whose name suggests a label may not carry it, and an entry that does carry one may use different words from the next source you open. Abha is another example: IDP's list shows King Khalid University twice, once with Male & Female after the name and once with no label, and the ielts.org finder lists an IDP venue at King Khalid University with no label. Compare the label and the address on your own session, not the name alone.
Towns that show two entries
In Hafar Al Batin, Arar and Buraydah the finder shows a British Council centre as two separate entries, one under each label, so the same venue name appears twice in the town's results. If you see two entries, read each label and each address, and check that the one you choose matches the session you book.
What this page does not say
- It does not say who may book or sit at a labelled centre. We read no booking rule behind these labels, so we report the wording and nothing more. The provider's booking page is where to find out what a label means for your booking.
- It gives no exam format, test date or exam fee. Those appear on the session you book with the provider. For how the formats compare across the Gulf, see computer-delivered IELTS in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman.
- It is not complete. It covers the entries recorded on 24 October 2026; other centres may carry labels that are not in the table.
How to check a label before you book
This is general advice, not guidance from IDP, the British Council or ielts.org.
- Start from the provider. Open IDP's Saudi Arabia test dates page or the British Council's Saudi Arabia booking page, then follow its steps to your city and your session.
- Read the label in the provider's own words, and the address as well as the name. Use the ielts.org finder as a cross-check. If a town returns nothing, try another spelling: on the finder's cards, for example, the address for Hafar Al Batin ends with the spelling Hafr Al Baten.
- If the sources differ, or your entry shows no label, ask the provider before you pay or travel.
- Look again close to your date. We read these labels on 24 October 2026, and lists change.
Where online lessons with Mike fit
Band Booster IELTS is a private online tutoring service. It is not a test centre, it is independent of IDP, the British Council and Cambridge University Press & Assessment, and it does not register you, hold a place, set exam fees or test dates, or issue results. This page quotes no exam fee or test date; the providers set and change them.
Every lesson is one-to-one on Google Meet in English with Mike, who holds the Cambridge CELTA, teaches from Hanoi and scored 8.5 in Speaking in his own IELTS (about Mike). Because lessons are online, the centre you choose for the test does not change where you study. The booking calendar shows each slot in your own time zone. Saudi Arabia is in a higher regional price tier than Vietnam, and the booking page shows your price in your own currency before you pay. A paid 30-minute trial can be taken once, on your first booking, and you can reschedule at no charge up to 12 hours before a session. No band is guaranteed: progress depends on your starting point and the work you do between sessions.
