How lessons with Mike work for a student in Jeddah
Every lesson is taught by Mike himself, one-to-one, live on Google Meet and in English. He holds the Cambridge CELTA, teaches from Hanoi, Vietnam, and scored 7.5 overall and 8.5 in Speaking in his own IELTS. There is no classroom or group class in Jeddah: you join online. About Mike has more detail.
A session can focus on one skill or mix several. Writing is marked against the public band descriptors, Speaking runs Parts 1, 2 and 3 in the real test format, and feedback comes during the session. See IELTS Speaking coaching, IELTS Writing feedback and the Speaking tutor page for Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman.
Results students have reported back, anonymously, went from 6.0 to 7.5 overall, from 5.5 to 7.0 in Writing and from 6.5 to 8.0 in Speaking. No band is promised: progress depends on your starting point and the work you do between sessions.
The time difference: Hanoi is four hours ahead of Jeddah
According to the IANA time zone database, Saudi Arabia has a single zone, Asia/Riyadh, at UTC+3 with no daylight saving rules, so Jeddah is on UTC+3 all year. The database has no entry named Jeddah: the Jeddah offset follows from Saudi Arabia having one zone. The same database puts Vietnam, Hanoi included, on UTC+7, also without daylight saving. The gap is therefore four hours at any time of year.
| Jeddah (UTC+3) | Hanoi (UTC+7) |
|---|---|
| 09:00 | 13:00 |
| 14:00 | 18:00 |
| 18:00 | 22:00 |
The table is a conversion, not a list of open slots: Mike's calendar decides which times are open and no particular hours are promised. The booking calendar shows every slot in your own time zone. The conversion rests on the IANA database alone: this page did not check a Saudi or Vietnamese government source, so confirm the time on your own calendar if it matters.
Booking and price from Jeddah
Booking steps and regional prices are explained on the page for Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. Saudi Arabia is in a higher regional price tier than Vietnam; the booking page shows your price in your own currency before you pay. A regular session lasts 60 minutes, and a paid 30-minute trial can be taken once, on your first booking. Payment options are shown on the booking page.
You can reschedule at no charge up to 12 hours before a slot; a cancellation inside 12 hours is not refunded. Message Mike on WhatsApp, Telegram or Zalo at +84 383 390 963 (a Vietnam number), or email mkcenter007@gmail.com.
Where IELTS can be taken in Jeddah: what IDP and the British Council say
Both IDP and the British Council list Jeddah among their IELTS locations in Saudi Arabia. The British Council says IELTS on computer is held at its test centres in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam, and IDP's finder lists several venues with a Jeddah address. This is what the pages said in October 2026, so check before you book.
Band Booster IELTS is independent of the test providers and is not a test centre: it does not register students, set fees or dates, or issue results. This page quotes no fees, test dates or number of centres; confirm each point with the provider.
IDP: venues with a Jeddah address
IDP's Saudi Arabia test dates page names Jeddah among the cities where it has centres. At the time of writing, its finder lists several venues with Jeddah addresses, each tagged "One Skill Retake available". The finder cards on that national page carry no test-format tag, but IDP's own Jeddah test dates page does: it lists sessions at "IDP Education - Jeddah" marked "IELTS on computer", most with "Writing on computer" and some with "Writing on paper". IDP's page for another Jeddah venue lists sessions marked "IELTS on computer" with "Writing on computer".
With the British Council's pages below and the ielts.org finder, both providers therefore show IELTS on computer in Jeddah. Providers differ on Speaking delivery and on which venues they list, so confirm the format of the session you book.
A venue with "Jeddah" in its name is not always in the city: at the time of writing, one listing branded IDP Jeddah has a Taif address, so read the address before you book.
British Council: IELTS on computer in Jeddah
The British Council's Saudi Arabia dates, fees and locations page says you can take IELTS on computer at its test centres in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. The page text names no venue or street address for Jeddah. It also lists IELTS on computer with Writing on Paper (not available for UKVI tests), so ask the centre which version your session is. The same page also lists IELTS on paper at its centres in eleven cities, Jeddah among them; that wording may be out of date given the ielts.org notice below, so confirm the format with the centre.
On 5 March 2026, ielts.org said that from mid-2026 IELTS would no longer be offered as a paper-based test, with timelines varying by market. Some provider pages still carry paper-era wording, so confirm the format of the session you book.
IELTS for UKVI in Jeddah
The British Council's Saudi Arabia UK visas page says it offers IELTS for UKVI in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Al-Ahsa, that it no longer offers IELTS for UKVI on paper in Saudi Arabia, and that test takers can still take IELTS for UKVI on computer. It also says UKVI will only accept tests taken in person at an official IELTS for UKVI test centre. The page does not say that every city offers every UKVI test, so ask the centre which test your application needs; this page gives no visa advice.
Speaking, results and One Skill Retake
IDP's Saudi Arabia pages describe Speaking as a face-to-face interview with an examiner and, in the pages read, do not mention a video call, and ielts.org's Academic and General Training Speaking pages say face to face too, but ielts.org's Guide for Test Takers says face to face or via video call. The British Council's Saudi Arabia English test-day and computer-delivered pages say that Speaking is carried out either face to face or over a video call at the test centre, while its English Academic and General Training pages describe a face-to-face interview and its Arabic computer-delivered page says face to face. No page read says which centres use which, so ask your centre how yours is held. For IELTS on computer, provider pages quote results in about 1 to 5 days; ask the centre how long results take for a One Skill Retake. The page on computer-delivered IELTS in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman has the detail.
At the time of writing, IDP's finder tags its Jeddah-address venues as offering One Skill Retake, and the British Council's Saudi page names no cities for it. Both say you need a full IELTS on computer test and must retake within 60 days; ask the centre about availability. See One Skill Retake or a full retake.
Other cities, and the ielts.org finder
IDP's Saudi Arabia page also lists centres in Makkah and Madinah, and the British Council's page names Makkah, Madinah and Taif among the other cities where it lists IELTS on paper, wording that may be out of date given the ielts.org notice above. Use the finders for current lists; this page gives no distances or travel advice.
ielts.org also has a test centre finder (country, then city). As read on 22 October 2026, its Jeddah list showed 12 results: 11 tagged "Computer" and 2 tagged "Computer (Writing on Paper)" (one of them with no plain "Computer" tag), and none with a plain "Paper" tag. Its list may differ from the provider pages, so check it as well before you book.
What to practise before test day
ielts.org's Academic pages give Listening as about 30 minutes and Reading as 60, each with 40 questions; Writing as 60 minutes, with Task 1 at least 150 words and Task 2 at least 250 words, counting twice as much; and Speaking as 11 to 14 minutes in three parts. Listening and Speaking are the same in Academic and General Training while Reading and Writing differ, so see Academic or General Training if you are unsure which test you need.
General teaching advice, not guidance from a provider: time both Writing tasks and practise Speaking aloud with another person. The Speaking Part 2 timer helps with the preparation minute and the long turn.
Preparation materials from the providers
ielts.org and the providers publish their own preparation materials (pages read in October 2026).
- ielts.org's preparation resources page lists sample tests, videos on how Writing is scored, apps, webinars, books and articles.
- The British Council's Saudi Arabia preparation page describes Speaking videos, practice tests that can be downloaded with answer sheets, transcripts and answers, preparation apps and a computer-delivered familiarisation test, all listed at no charge.
- IDP's preparation page lists practice tests, including familiarisation tests on computer for Listening, Reading and Writing, plus podcasts, videos and articles.
One way to combine them with lessons, again general teaching advice: try a sample or familiarisation test on your own, then bring the section that feels weakest to a session, such as a Task 2 written against the clock or a Part 2 talk. No band is promised.
IELTS classes in Jeddah, or one-to-one online?
If you searched for IELTS classes in Jeddah, this is not a class. It is one-to-one coaching online, with no classmates or fixed timetable: you book sessions as you need them, and Mike's calendar decides which times are open. A class in a room can suit you better if you want a fixed weekly timetable, classmates or a teacher in the same room. In either format no band is promised. See also how to choose an online IELTS tutor.
Check the requirement with the organisation that sets it. This page states no score requirement for any university, employer or visa. IDP's Saudi Arabia page on organisations that accept IELTS says each organisation sets its own IELTS requirements and advises confirming the score directly with it.
