The IELTS test centre in Denver that ielts.org lists
Band Booster coaches; it does not run the test. It does not register you for the test, set exam fees or issue results, and it has no link with the centre below or with the University of Colorado Denver. This section was read on ielts.org and on the centre's own web page in October 2026, so confirm it there before you book: listings, rules and wording change.
The address on ielts.org
ielts.org's listing for Denver gives the address as North Classroom Building, Room 1009B1 (BSS Computer Lab), 1200 Larimer Street, Denver, Colorado 80204, and the listing's name includes the University of Colorado Denver. The centre also has its own page, the Denver centre's IELTS page, and the entrance and rules below come from it. The other US listings are in IELTS test centres in the United States.
Computer-based testing only, for now
The centre's page says it currently only does computer-based testing. The word 'currently' signals that this can change, and this page was read in October 2026, so if you need a different format, ask the centre before you register. What a computer-delivered test involves, from Speaking to results, is covered in computer-delivered IELTS in the United States, and the practice section below suggests how to prepare for a screen.
Getting in: locked doors, the east entrance and red IELTS signs
The centre's page says the North Classroom Building has multiple entrances and can be confusing, and that the building doors are locked. It places the entrance to use on Larimer Street, the street in the ielts.org address, and says that entrance is on the east side of the building, closest to Speer Blvd. It tells you to look for red IELTS signs on the doors and to allow time for IELTS staff to let you into the building.
This page gives no directions, parking information, travel times or arrival times. Use a map and the instructions in your booking confirmation, and look at the entrance details before test day rather than on the morning.
Two rules the centre states: late arrival and Enquiry on Results
Both rules are the Denver centre's own, as worded on its page when it was read in October 2026. They are not US-wide rules, and your booking may say something different.
- Late arrival. The centre's page says that if you arrive late it will not be able to admit you, and that no refund or transfer without charge will be provided. This page does not say what counts as late, so read the wording on the centre's page.
- Enquiry on Results. The centre's page describes an Enquiry on Results as a review and re-mark of your scores, and says it has to be requested no later than 6 weeks after your test date. Read the centre's page for how to request one.
What ielts.org says about identification, and what some centre pages ask for at registration, are covered in IELTS test day in the US: ID and centre rules.
Results: ielts.org's range for IELTS on computer
ielts.org's page on getting and sharing your results gives 1–5 days for IELTS on computer and says the time depends on the test you take. Treat it as a typical range, not a promise. The centre's own page words its results timing differently, so rely on your booking confirmation or the centre for your own date.
If a deadline depends on your result, count from the top of the range, and keep the Enquiry on Results limit above in mind if you may want a result reviewed.
Denver and Hanoi: a 13 or 14 hour gap
NIST lists Mountain time as MST -7 and MDT -6, that is UTC-7 on standard time and UTC-6 on daylight time. The IANA time zone database lists Vietnam under the entry Asia/Ho_Chi_Minh, which ends on plain UTC+7 with no daylight saving.
So Hanoi is 14 hours ahead while Denver is on standard time and 13 hours ahead on daylight time. US clocks change twice a year and Hanoi's do not, so a lesson at a fixed Hanoi time moves by one hour on your Denver clock when they change. This page lists no clock-change dates. The table reads from your side: a Denver time, then the matching Hanoi time. For other US time zones, see the table on the page for learners in the USA.
| Denver time | Hanoi, Denver on standard time (+14 hours) | Hanoi, Denver on daylight time (+13 hours) |
|---|---|---|
| 06:00 | 20:00, same day | 19:00, same day |
| 07:00 | 21:00, same day | 20:00, same day |
| 18:00 | 08:00, next day | 07:00, next day |
| 19:00 | 09:00, next day | 08:00, next day |
| 20:00 | 10:00, next day | 09:00, next day |
This is a conversion, not a list of open slots: Mike's calendar decides which times are open, and no particular hours are promised. The booking calendar shows real slots in your own time; check the time it shows for the date you pick, especially around a US clock change.
How online lessons with Mike work from Denver
Mike holds the Cambridge CELTA (July 2017), is based in Hanoi, Vietnam, and scored 8.5 in Speaking in his own IELTS test. He teaches every session himself; About Mike has more detail. Three results have been reported back to him, each anonymous: 6.0 to 7.5 overall, 5.5 to 7.0 in Writing and 6.5 to 8.0 in Speaking. No band is promised: progress depends on your starting point and the work you do between sessions.
A regular lesson lasts 60 minutes, live and one-to-one on Google Meet in English, with feedback during the session rather than days later. It can cover Listening, Reading, Writing (Task 1 and Task 2, marked against the public band descriptors) or Speaking (Parts 1, 2 and 3 in the real test format). Sessions can be recorded on request, and written progress notes appear in your account afterwards. See IELTS Speaking coaching, the Speaking tutor page for the USA and IELTS Writing feedback.
The booking steps are on the page for learners in the USA. In short: your price in your own currency appears on the booking page before you pay, there is no subscription or package, and a paid 30-minute trial can be taken once, on your first booking. You can reschedule at no charge up to 12 hours before the slot; a cancellation inside 12 hours is not refunded.
Practising for a computer-based test
The centre's page says its testing is computer-based, so it helps to practise on a screen as well as on paper. The format column follows the standard IELTS test format; the last column is general teaching advice, not guidance from ielts.org or the centre.
| Section | Standard format | General practice advice |
|---|---|---|
| Listening | 30 minutes, 40 questions in four parts; each recording is played once | Follow a recording once through without pausing |
| Reading | 60 minutes, 3 sections, 40 questions | Practise finishing all three sections inside the hour, on screen |
| Writing | 60 minutes: Task 1 at least 150 words in about 20 minutes, Task 2 at least 250 words in about 40; Task 2 counts twice as much as Task 1 | Practise planning and finishing both tasks inside 60 minutes, typing |
| Speaking | Interview of 11 to 14 minutes: Part 1 4 to 5 minutes, Part 2 3 to 4 including 1 minute to prepare, Part 3 4 to 5 | Answer aloud, to time, with a person listening |
The band score calculator shows how skill scores average into an overall band, and the Speaking Part 2 timer helps you practise a long turn.
Online only: not an IELTS class in Denver
IELTS classes in Denver can mean a course at a venue. This is a different format: Mike teaches you alone, live on Google Meet, with no classroom or group class in Denver. If you want classmates or a fixed weekly timetable, a class may suit you better; one-to-one lessons depend on which slots are open in Mike's calendar. How to choose an online IELTS tutor goes further.
Which test: Academic or General Training?
The university, employer or authority that asks for your result decides which version you need, and it can change, so read its own page before you book. Ask the centre which tests it offers on your date. This page states no score or test-type requirement for any institution, and Band Booster does not give visa or immigration advice. See Academic or General Training.
Exam fees and dates: check with the centre
This page quotes no exam fee or test date. Exam fees and dates are not set by Band Booster, they can change, and the centre is the place to check the current fee and the dates open to you. The booking page shows the price of lessons with Mike in your own currency before you pay.
