Last updated:

Band Booster IELTS is a private online IELTS tutor for Jakarta: one-to-one lessons in English on Google Meet with Mike, a Cambridge CELTA-certified teacher in Hanoi who scored 8.5 in Speaking in his own IELTS. Jakarta (WIB, UTC+7) has the same clock time as Hanoi all year, a regular lesson is 60 minutes, and your price shows in your own currency on the booking page before you pay. No band is promised.

Price: IDR 344,590 for a 60-minute one-to-one lesson; IDR 103,377 for the paid 30-minute trial. Amounts use the same price tiers as the booking page, in your local currency at exchange rates set on 6 October 2026. The booking page shows the exact amount before you pay, and PayPal charges the US-dollar equivalent (USD 19.25 for a 60-minute lesson).

Band Booster IELTS offers one-to-one online IELTS lessons for students in Jakarta with Mike, a CELTA-certified teacher in Hanoi who scored 8.5 in IELTS Speaking. Lessons are live in English on Google Meet; there is no classroom, group class or test centre in Jakarta. As read in October 2026, IDP's Indonesia site shows seven IELTS venues with addresses in four Jakarta districts (the British Council's own venue list is linked below). Jakarta keeps the same clock time as Hanoi all year, your price shows in your own currency on the booking page before you pay, and no band score is promised.

One-to-one online lessons, not an IELTS class in Jakarta

This is private online coaching rather than a classroom course. Mike holds the Cambridge CELTA, is based in Hanoi and teaches every session himself, one-to-one and live on Google Meet, in English only (not Bahasa Indonesia). A regular session lasts 60 minutes, and there is no classroom or group class in Jakarta. In his own IELTS Mike scored 7.5 overall and 8.5 in Speaking (about Mike).

A session covers Listening, Reading, Writing (Task 1 and Task 2, marked against the public band descriptors) and Speaking (Parts 1, 2 and 3 in the real test format), with feedback during the session (see IELTS Speaking coaching and IELTS Writing feedback). Three anonymous results have been reported back to Mike: from 6.0 to 7.5 overall, from 5.5 to 7.0 in Writing and from 6.5 to 8.0 in Speaking. No band is promised: progress depends on your starting point and the work between sessions.

Price, payment and booking steps are the same across Indonesia and are on the Indonesia page, which also compares Bali and Papua with Hanoi. This page covers Jakarta: the clock and the test venues.

Jakarta keeps Hanoi's clock time, all year

The IANA time zone database puts Jakarta in Western Indonesia Time (WIB), UTC+7, and Vietnam, Hanoi included, at UTC+7. Neither currently uses daylight saving, so the difference is zero hours all year: 19:00 in Hanoi is 19:00 in Jakarta. The calendar on the booking page shows each slot in your own time zone. Mike's calendar decides which slots are open, and no particular hours are promised.

IELTS test venues in Jakarta: IDP's list and the British Council's pages

You choose a provider and then a test session, so check the venue on the session and on your booking confirmation.

Band Booster is a private tutor, not a test centre. It does not register candidates, set exam fees or choose test dates, and it is not affiliated with IDP or the British Council. This section was read on IDP's Indonesia pages and ielts.org in October 2026. Lists and tags change, so confirm on the provider's page before you book. It gives areas, not street addresses.

IELTS test venues in Jakarta: IDP's list

IDP's test locations and dates page showed 34 test centres across Indonesia when read, and its city list includes a test-session listing for each of four Jakarta districts: Jakarta Barat (west), Pusat (central), Selatan (south) and Utara (north). Seven venue cards show addresses in those four districts, and each card links to its test sessions. The table groups the venues by the district in each card's address.

District in the card's addressVenuesTags on IDP's venue cards

SelatanIDP Kuningan; IELTS Test Centre Pondok IndahBoth show One Skill Retake supported and Accessible test centre
UtaraIDP Kelapa Gading; one venue listed under another institution's nameBoth show One Skill Retake supported; Kelapa Gading also shows Accessible test centre

IDP's IELTS on Computer page names five IDP centres in and near Jakarta: Kuningan, Pondok Indah, Kebon Jeruk, Kelapa Gading and Gading Serpong in Tangerang. The venue cards do not say which test types each venue offers, so this page makes no per-venue claim about format.

IELTS test venues in Jakarta: the British Council

This page does not list the British Council's Jakarta venues. Use its Indonesia dates, fees and locations page for the current venues, test dates and fees, and check the venue on your booking.

Computer delivery and the Speaking interview

An announcement on IDP Indonesia's paper-based IELTS page says that from July 2026 all IELTS tests will be delivered on computer, with IELTS Life Skills staying on paper. IDP's location page still describes a choice of computer or paper, which does not match that announcement, so confirm the format on your session, whichever provider you book with.

According to ielts.org's ways-to-take page, on computer Listening, Reading and Writing are on screen and Speaking at a test centre is a face-to-face session with a trained examiner, while its Guide for Test Takers says face to face or via video call. IDP Indonesia's IELTS on Computer page also says Speaking stays face to face, but its Indonesian-language Speaking page says face to face or by video call, and the British Council Indonesia Foundation's Academic and General Training pages say its test centres (some of them, on the General Training page) deliver Speaking by video call. None of these pages says which venue uses which method, so ask your provider how and when your own Speaking test will be held. The detail is on computer-delivered IELTS in Indonesia and the Speaking tutor page for Indonesia. ielts.org also describes a Writing on Paper option in selected countries; the IDP pages read here do not say whether any Jakarta venue offers it, and the British Council Indonesia Foundation's English pages describe the option but give no venue list.

One Skill Retake at Jakarta venues

IDP tags all seven of its Jakarta-district venues as supporting One Skill Retake. The British Council's locations page does not mark which of its venues offer it, but the ielts.org test-centre finder tags some British Council cards for Indonesia with One Skill Retake and others without (34 of 56 when read on 22 October 2026, and one venue can appear on several cards with different tags). Ask the British Council about your venue before you rely on it, and see its One Skill Retake page. ielts.org sets the conditions (a full test on computer first, a centre that offers it, the retake within 60 days), and One Skill Retake or a full retake compares the options.

Preparing for a computer test

IDP Indonesia publishes computer-based familiarisation tests, and computer-delivered IELTS in Indonesia covers practice for the computer format. As general teaching advice, not provider guidance, and with no band promised: bring a timed Writing answer, or the questions you missed in a sample test, to a lesson and go through why. The Speaking Part 2 timer helps with long-turn practice.

Before you book the test: requirements, fees and dates

The organisation receiving your result decides which test and score it needs. ielts.org's test types page says Listening and Speaking are the same in Academic and General Training, while Reading and Writing differ, and IDP Indonesia says each organisation sets its own required score. For a scholarship, read the requirement on the programme's own page. This page states no target score; see Academic vs General Training and IELTS scores for study abroad.

The exam fee is charged by the provider you book with, not by Band Booster, and fees and dates change, so this page quotes none. Use the test-session links on IDP's test locations page, or the British Council's dates, fees and locations page.

Common questions

Is there an online IELTS tutor for someone in Jakarta?

Yes. Band Booster IELTS offers one-to-one lessons with Mike, a CELTA-certified teacher in Hanoi who scored 8.5 in Speaking in his own IELTS. Lessons are live in English on Google Meet, so they work from anywhere in Jakarta with a stable connection, and Jakarta has the same clock time as Hanoi. You see your price in your own currency on the booking page before you pay, and no band score is promised.

Do I need a tutor based in Jakarta?

No. Lessons are live one-to-one video lessons on Google Meet, taught in English by Mike from Hanoi, so you can join from anywhere in Jakarta with a stable connection. Band Booster runs no classroom, group class or test centre in Jakarta and does not register you for the test, which is a separate booking with a test provider: IDP, for example, lists test locations in Jakarta on its Indonesia site, and the test-venue section of this page gives the details.

Is this an IELTS class or coaching course in Jakarta?

No. It is private online coaching: Mike teaches one student at a time, and there is no centre, classroom or group class in Jakarta to attend. A class may suit you better if you want a fixed weekly timetable and classmates, while one-to-one lessons depend on which slots are open in Mike's calendar. Band Booster promises no band.

Where is the IELTS test centre in Jakarta?

There is no single centre. IDP's Indonesia site shows seven venues with addresses in four Jakarta districts (Barat, Pusat, Selatan and Utara), and the British Council has its own dates, fees and locations page for its venues. You book with a provider, not with Band Booster, and the lists change, so check the provider's page for the venue on your session. The test fee is set by the provider, not by Band Booster, and it changes.

Is IELTS in Jakarta taken on computer, and is Speaking in person?

IDP Indonesia's announcement says that from July 2026 all its IELTS tests will be delivered on computer (IELTS Life Skills stays on paper), but some IDP pages still mention paper, so confirm the format when you book, whichever provider you use. On computer, Listening, Reading and Writing are on screen, and ielts.org's ways-to-take page describes Speaking at a test centre as a face-to-face session with a trained examiner. The sources differ, though: ielts.org's Guide for Test Takers says face to face or via video call, IDP's Indonesian-language Speaking page says the same, and the British Council Indonesia Foundation's Academic page says its test centres deliver Speaking by video call (its General Training page says some do). No page read says which venue uses which method, so ask your provider how and when your own Speaking test will be held.

What is the time difference between Jakarta and Hanoi?

None. Jakarta is on Western Indonesia Time (WIB, UTC+7) and Hanoi is also UTC+7, and neither currently uses daylight saving, so 19:00 in Hanoi is 19:00 in Jakarta all year. The booking calendar shows slots in your own time zone, and no particular hours are promised.

Can I retake just one skill at a Jakarta venue?

Possibly. IDP tags all seven of its Jakarta-district venues as supporting One Skill Retake; the British Council's own pages do not mark which of its venues offer it, and ielts.org's finder tags some British Council venues with One Skill Retake and others without, so ask the British Council about your venue. ielts.org says the original test must have been IELTS on computer, the retake must be sat within 60 days, and it can be used once per original test. Organisations decide whether to accept it, so check with yours first.
