Band Booster IELTS offers one-to-one online IELTS lessons for students in Kuwait City with Mike, a CELTA-certified teacher in Hanoi who scored 8.5 in Speaking in his own IELTS. Lessons are live on Google Meet in English, your price appears in your own currency on the booking page before you pay, and no band is promised. Kuwait City is on UTC+3, so Hanoi (UTC+7) is 4 hours ahead all year.

How one-to-one lessons work for a student in Kuwait City

Every lesson is taught by Mike himself, live on Google Meet and in English. He holds the Cambridge CELTA, teaches from Hanoi, and in his own IELTS scored 7.5 overall and 8.5 in Speaking. See about Mike.

Band Booster has no classroom, centre or group class in Kuwait, so you join from home or any quiet place. If you want a room and classmates, a local class will suit you better. Mike's calendar decides which slots are open, so check it first if you can study only at fixed hours.

A session can cover Listening, Reading, Writing (marked against the public band descriptors) or Speaking (Parts 1, 2 and 3), with feedback during the session. There is no fixed course and no band is promised. See IELTS Speaking coaching and IELTS Writing feedback.

For the booking steps, see the page for Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. Kuwait is in a higher regional price tier than Vietnam. The booking page shows your price in your own currency, and the payment options, before you pay. Your first booking can be the paid 30-minute trial, once.

Where IELTS is taken in and around Kuwait City: what the sources say

The provider finders do not agree on which test centres are "in Kuwait City". The centre pages on ielts.org's test centre finder carry the label Kuwait City for three British Council venues: at the American University of Kuwait, a training and consulting services provider, and an international institute. The finder also lists a student services venue in Kuwait City (16th Floor, Ahmad Tower, Arabian Gulf Street). IDP Kuwait lists a student services venue under Sharq with a near-identical address (Ahmed Tower, 16th Floor, Arabian Gulf Road), and IDP Kuwait's own Kuwait City filter returns that Sharq venue, so it appears to be the same venue, but neither source says so. IDP Kuwait lists 4 centres by area, and British Council Kuwait's dates page says 8 locations; the venue names were not visible in its page text when read. No finder page read here defines in words which areas count as Kuwait City, so check the address in the booking system for your session.

Band Booster is a private tutor, not a test centre: it does not register students, set fees, choose dates or issue results. You register with IDP or the British Council. The table shows what each source listed when read in October 2026; lists change, so check the provider before you book. This page gives no fees and no exam dates.

SourceWhat it shows
IDP Kuwait4 test centres, each titled by area: Salmiya, Sharq, Sabah Al Salem and Abu Halifa. The city filter offers Kuwait City and Salmiya: Kuwait City shows 3 centres (Sharq, Sabah Al Salem and Abu Halifa) and Salmiya shows 1 (Salmiya).
British Council KuwaitDaily IELTS on computer sessions across 8 locations in Kuwait. No venue names were visible in the page text when read.
ielts.org test centre finder20 listings for Kuwait, which are 16 distinct venues because 4 appear twice. City options are Kuwait, Kuwait City and Mansouriya; the Kuwait City option shows 5 listings, which are 3 British Council venues.

"Kuwait City" is used loosely

ielts.org's finder shows five venues whose address text names Kuwait City, and three of those addresses also name another area: Salmiya, Sabah Alsalem or Abu Halifa. The two finders also group venues under Kuwait City differently. IDP Kuwait's finder, filtered to Kuwait City, shows 3 of its 4 centres (a student services venue in Sharq, an education provider in Sabah Al Salem and a college in Abu Halifa) and, filtered to Salmiya, shows IDP Education in Salmiya. ielts.org's finder, filtered to Kuwait City, shows 5 listings, which are three British Council venues (American University of Kuwait, a training and consulting services provider and an international institute) because the American University of Kuwait and the institute each appear twice; it does not show the student services venue under that filter, although that centre's own name and address say Kuwait City. Neither finder defines the boundary of Kuwait City in words, so this page does not say which areas are inside it. Check the address when you book.

The format: IELTS on computer

All three sources show IELTS on computer in Kuwait. IDP Kuwait says Reading, Writing and Listening are taken on a computer and Speaking stays a face-to-face interview with an examiner. British Council Kuwait's computer-delivered page says the same, but its test-day page says the Speaking test is carried out either face to face or over a video call at your test centre. ielts.org's format pages describe a face-to-face interview, but its Guide for Test Takers says you take Speaking face to face or via video call. No page read says which centres use which, so ask your centre how yours is held. In ielts.org's finder every Kuwait venue but one carries a Computer tag, and none shows a Writing on Paper tag.

Some pages still carry paper wording: IDP Kuwait's test-dates page says you can choose between IELTS on computer and IELTS on paper at the test centre closest to you, and British Council Kuwait still has a page on IELTS on paper; its UKVI and booking pages also mention paper. ielts.org said on 5 March 2026 that IELTS would no longer be offered as a paper-based test from mid-2026, with timelines varying by market. Confirm the format on the session you book.

One Skill Retake

IDP Kuwait marks all four of its listed centres "One Skill Retake available", and ielts.org's finder tags 13 of the 16 venues. IDP Kuwait's retake page says you need a full IELTS on computer test at a centre that offers it, the retake must be sat within 60 days and can be used once per full test, and a test first taken with IDP can be retaken only at an eligible IDP centre. British Council Kuwait says its retake covers Academic, General Training and IELTS for UKVI on computer and is booked through the Test Taker Portal. Check your centre before booking the full test; One Skill Retake or a full retake explains how to choose.

IELTS for UKVI

British Council Kuwait says it offers IELTS for UKVI in Salmiya and Mansouriya. ielts.org's finder shows the UKVI Approved tag on several Kuwait venues, though not on every listing of a venue, so confirm with the centre. ielts.org says UK Visas and Immigration accepts only tests taken in person at a test centre approved for IELTS for UKVI. This page gives no visa advice.

Kuwait City is 4 hours behind Hanoi, all year

The IANA time zone database (release 2026e) lists Kuwait as a link to the Riyadh zone in its backward file. Riyadh is UTC+3 with no daylight saving since 1947, and Vietnam is a fixed UTC+7 with none since 1975. So Hanoi is 4 hours ahead in every season.

Which IELTS test, and what score? Ask the organisation

According to ielts.org's test types page, Listening and Speaking are the same in Academic and General Training while Reading and Writing differ, so check the entry requirements of your target organisation before choosing a test. IDP Kuwait says universities, colleges, employers and migration bodies each set their own score requirements. ielts.org's Who accepts IELTS? finder can be filtered by country; its list shows names, types and locations, and some of the Kuwait organisation pages on ielts.org mark the scores they list as indicative and say to contact the institution directly. See IELTS scores for study abroad. This page states no requirement for any organisation.

What to practise before test day

ielts.org gives the format as Listening 30 minutes, Reading 60 minutes, Writing 60 minutes in 2 parts, and Speaking 11 to 14 minutes in 3 parts, recorded and marked on four criteria: fluency and coherence, lexical resource, grammatical range and accuracy, and pronunciation. General teaching advice, not from ielts.org or the providers:

Using ielts.org's practice materials alongside lessons

ielts.org's preparation page lists sample tests with questions and answers, Writing test resources and other guidance, and its preparation menu also links to an IELTS Trial Test. Its sample questions page describes its practice papers as available without charge, with separate pages for Academic, General Training and IELTS for UKVI Life Skills.

On the Academic sample test page, the Listening and Reading links open in a new window, with answer keys listed alongside. Writing has sample Part 1 and Part 2 tasks and a PDF of responses to a sample Part 2 with band scores and examiner comments. Speaking has a PDF of sample tasks.

The IELTS Trial Test covers Listening, Reading and Writing at participating Trial Testing locations, and its scores cannot be used for academic, immigration or work purposes.

One way to combine them, as general teaching advice:

  1. Attempt first. Write a sample Part 2 task, timed, and compare it with the sample responses and their band scores and examiner comments. Then bring your answer to a Writing session for marking against the band descriptors, with feedback live.
  2. Use answer keys to find patterns. After a Listening or Reading sample, note which question types cost you marks and bring them to a session.
  3. Rehearse Speaking. Read the Speaking sample tasks PDF, then practise Parts 1, 2 and 3 aloud in a Speaking session.

No band is promised: progress depends on your starting point and the work you do between sessions. To start, open the booking calendar; you can reschedule at no charge up to 12 hours before a session.

Common questions

Is there an online IELTS tutor for someone in Kuwait City?

Yes. Band Booster IELTS offers one-to-one lessons with Mike, a CELTA-certified teacher in Hanoi who scored 8.5 in Speaking in his own IELTS. They run live on Google Meet in English, so you join from home in Kuwait City; there is no classroom in Kuwait. No band is promised.

What is the time difference between Kuwait City and Hanoi?

Hanoi is 4 hours ahead of Kuwait City all year. According to the IANA time zone database, Kuwait is on UTC+3 and Vietnam on UTC+7, and neither uses daylight saving, so 16:00 in Kuwait City is 20:00 in Hanoi. The booking calendar shows each slot in your own time zone.

Where is the IELTS test centre in Kuwait City, and is the test on computer?

There is no single list: IDP, the British Council and ielts.org each list venues differently. ielts.org's centre pages label three British Council venues Kuwait City (at the American University of Kuwait, a training and consulting services provider and an international institute), and its finder lists a student services venue in Kuwait City, which appears to be the same venue as the student services venue that IDP lists under Sharq, although neither source says so. IDP Kuwait lists 4 centres by area, and its own Kuwait City filter shows 3 of them (Sharq, Sabah Al Salem and Abu Halifa). British Council Kuwait's dates page says 8 locations without venue names visible in its text when read. The Kuwait provider pages and ielts.org's finder show IELTS on computer, with Speaking described by IDP as face to face with an examiner, by British Council Kuwait's test-day page as face to face or by video call at your test centre (its computer-delivered page says face to face), and by ielts.org's Guide for Test Takers as face to face or via video call; no page read says which centres use which. Some pages still mention paper, so confirm the format when you book with IDP or the British Council.

Can I join IELTS classes or coaching online from Kuwait City?

Band Booster offers one-to-one coaching rather than classes: Mike teaches you alone, live on Google Meet, and there are no group classes. A session can cover Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking. If you want classmates or a room to attend, a local class will suit you better.

How much does an online IELTS tutor cost in Kuwait City?

The booking page shows your price in your own currency before you pay. Kuwait is in a higher regional price tier than Vietnam, and a paid 30-minute trial can be booked once, on your first booking. You can reschedule at no charge up to 12 hours before a session.

Can I retake just one skill in Kuwait?

At many venues, but not all. IDP Kuwait marks all 4 of its listed centres One Skill Retake available, while ielts.org's finder tags 13 of 16 venues. The retake must follow a full IELTS on computer test and be sat within 60 days, so check your centre before booking the full test.
