The centre ielts.org lists under Seattle names Federal Way in its address
This section draws on ielts.org's page for the centre and on the centre's own web page, both read in October 2026. Pages change, so confirm everything here on the pages themselves before you book. Band Booster IELTS has no link with the centre: it does not book the test, register you for it or set the exam fee.
ielts.org files the centre under Seattle. The address block it prints runs: 33801 1st Way S, Suite 231, Federal Way, Seattle, Washington 98003, so the street address names Federal Way. This page gives no travel distances or directions, so look up the address and plan your route before test day.
| Test | Formats the ielts.org page lists |
|---|---|
| IELTS Academic | Computer; Computer (Writing on Paper) |
| IELTS General Training | Computer; Computer (Writing on Paper) |
Computer (Writing on Paper) is ielts.org's label for a second format listed beside plain computer. Confirm with the centre which one applies to your booking. Computer-delivered IELTS in the United States explains the formats, and every US listing by state shows how the other centres compare.
What the centre's own page says: weekends, ID, parking and lockers
These points are the centre's statements, not ielts.org's, and they can change. The centre's page words arrival and start times in more than one way, so this page prints none: follow your confirmation email for every time. This page also quotes no exam fee or test date.
- Saturdays and Sundays. The centre says it offers IELTS exams on Saturdays and Sundays. That is its own description of its pattern, not a list of dates; your date comes from your booking.
- ID. The centre says no other ID than the one used at registration will be accepted. Its lists of documents are not consistent, so this page names none. IELTS test day in the US compares what several centre pages say.
- Parking. The centre says there is no charge for parking.
- Lockers. The centre lists “secure digital lockers” for personal items, in its own wording. What you may take into the test room is a question for the centre.
Results on computer: 1–5 days, typically
ielts.org's page on getting and sharing results gives IELTS on computer as 1–5 days. The page gives no separate figure for Computer (Writing on Paper), so ask the centre if that is your format. These are typical timings, not promises, so if a deadline depends on your result, do not plan around the shortest figure.
Planning lessons around a weekend test
The centre says its exams run on Saturdays and Sundays, so a test day can sit at the end of a lesson week. Mike's calendar decides which times are open, and no particular hours are promised, at weekends or on weekdays. If your test date is close, you can book several sessions in the same week when slots are open. There is no fixed course, and no band, outcome or timeline is promised: progress depends on where you start and on the work you do between sessions.
The points below are general teaching advice, not rules from IELTS or the centre.
- Practise the format you are booked for. Writing is 60 minutes: Task 1 (at least 150 words, about 20 minutes) and Task 2 (at least 250 words, about 40 minutes), and Task 2 counts twice as much as Task 1. Practise both tasks the way your booked format asks, and confirm with the centre how Writing is taken in your format.
- Run Speaking in the real format. The interview lasts 11 to 14 minutes in three parts, and Part 2 gives you one minute to prepare and one to two minutes to speak. The Speaking Part 2 timer helps with the long turn.
- Time Listening and Reading as sections. Listening is about 30 minutes and Reading is 60 minutes, each with 40 questions.
- Check the logistics early. Confirm the address, your ID and the times in your confirmation email as soon as you have it, so the last lessons before the test go on practice.
Who teaches you, and how a lesson works
Mike is a Cambridge CELTA-certified teacher based in Hanoi, Vietnam, and in his own IELTS test he scored 8.5 in Speaking. He teaches every session himself, one-to-one, live on Google Meet and in English. About Mike has more.
A session can cover Listening, Reading, Writing (Task 1 and Task 2, marked against the public band descriptors) or Speaking (Parts 1, 2 and 3 in the real test format), with feedback during the session rather than days later. Sessions can be recorded on request, and written progress notes appear in your account afterwards. See IELTS Speaking coaching, the Speaking tutor page for the USA and IELTS Writing feedback.
Results that students have reported back include 6.0 → 7.5 overall, 5.5 → 7.0 in Writing and 6.5 → 8.0 in Speaking. These are individual outcomes, not averages or typical results. No band is promised; progress depends on the starting point and the work between sessions.
Online only: no centre or classroom in the Seattle area
Band Booster has no classroom, test centre or group class in Washington State. It is a private coaching service, not an IELTS test centre, and the test is booked separately from the lessons. A class can suit you better if you want a fixed weekly timetable and classmates; one-to-one lessons depend on which slots are open, so check the calendar first if your hours are fixed. How to choose an online IELTS tutor goes further, and the online IELTS tutor page for the USA covers the whole country.
Pacific time and Hanoi: 15 hours apart on standard time, 14 on daylight time
Seattle is on Pacific time. NIST lists Pacific as PST at UTC-8 and PDT at UTC-7. The IANA time zone database ends Vietnam's zone, Asia/Ho_Chi_Minh, on plain UTC+7 with no daylight saving, so Hanoi is on UTC+7 all year. That makes Hanoi 15 hours ahead of Seattle on standard time and 14 hours ahead on daylight time.
NIST says daylight saving time begins each year in March and returns to standard time in November, so US clocks change twice a year while Hanoi's does not. A slot at a fixed Hanoi time therefore moves by an hour on your clock when they change. Rules can change, and this page lists no changeover dates, so check the current ones.
| Seattle time | Hanoi on standard time (PST, UTC-8) | Hanoi on daylight time (PDT, UTC-7) |
|---|---|---|
| 06:00 | 21:00, same day | 20:00, same day |
| 07:00 | 22:00, same day | 21:00, same day |
| 17:00 | 08:00, next day | 07:00, next day |
| 18:00 | 09:00, next day | 08:00, next day |
| 19:00 | 10:00, next day | 09:00, next day |
| 20:00 | 11:00, next day | 10:00, next day |
The table converts times; it is not a list of open slots. Dates shift as well as hours: a Saturday evening in Seattle is already Sunday in Hanoi, and a Sunday evening is already Monday. The booking calendar shows each slot in your own time zone, so check the date and the time there before you confirm, especially near a clock change or your test date.
Price and booking
The United States is in the higher regional price tier, above the Vietnam price. Your price appears in your own currency on the booking page before you pay. A regular session lasts 60 minutes, there is no subscription and no package to commit to, and your first booking can be a paid 30-minute trial, available once per student.
- Choose a slot in the booking calendar, shown in your own time zone.
- See your price, then pay. PayPal is available, and cards can be used through PayPal guest checkout.
- A Google Meet link and calendar invite arrive by email straight away, with a link to set up your account.
- Have your lesson; written progress notes appear in your account afterwards.
Rescheduling is at no charge up to 12 hours before the slot. Cancellations inside 12 hours are not refunded.
Which test and score do you need?
The centre's page on ielts.org lists both Academic and General Training, but the university, employer or professional body that asks for your result decides which one you need and what score counts. Requirements change, so read that organisation's own page. This page states no score or test-type requirement for any institution and gives no visa or immigration advice. See Academic or General Training and IELTS scores for study abroad.
Questions to ask the centre before you book the test
- Which format applies to my booking: computer, or computer with Writing on Paper?
- Is the option I plan on open at this centre, such as One Skill Retake? One Skill Retake or a full retake compares the two.
- Where do I go on the day? The address block on ielts.org names Federal Way, so check the centre named on your booking confirmation.
- What time should I arrive, and what may I bring? Your confirmation email and the centre answer both; this page does not.
Also on Pacific time: online IELTS tutor, Portland and online IELTS tutor, San Francisco Bay Area.
