Who teaches: Mike, CELTA, based in Hanoi
Mike holds the Cambridge CELTA, is based in Hanoi, and teaches every session himself, live on Google Meet and in English. His own IELTS result is 7.5 overall with 8.5 in Speaking; about Mike has more detail. Band Booster IELTS is a private tutoring service, not a test centre, and is not part of IDP, the British Council or Cambridge.
Three anonymous results have been reported back to Mike: 6.0 to 7.5 overall, 5.5 to 7.0 in Writing and 6.5 to 8.0 in Speaking. These are individual outcomes; no band is promised, and progress depends on your starting point and the work between lessons.
Online IELTS coaching from Ahmedabad: one-to-one, with no classroom or batch
There is no classroom, batch or group class in Ahmedabad or anywhere else. Each lesson is a live video call between you and Mike, one to one, taught in English only. A regular lesson is 60 minutes, and you choose the focus: Speaking Parts 1, 2 and 3 in the real test format, Writing Task 1 and Task 2 marked against the public band descriptors, Listening or Reading. Feedback comes during the lesson, not days later, and written progress notes go into your account afterwards.
To book, open the booking page. Its calendar shows every open slot in your own time and your price in your own currency before you pay, and payment options are shown there. A Google Meet link and calendar invite arrive by email once your payment is confirmed. India is in the same regional price tier as Vietnam; online IELTS tutor for India explains regional pricing and payment.
You can move a lesson at no charge up to 12 hours before it starts; a cancellation inside 12 hours is not refunded. There is no subscription and no package to commit to, and a paid 30-minute trial lesson can be taken once, on your first booking. For how single skills are taught, see IELTS Speaking tutor for India and IELTS Writing feedback.
Ahmedabad time and Hanoi time
CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, which maintains it, gives Indian Standard Time as UTC+5:30. The IANA time zone database lists India (Asia/Kolkata) at UTC+5:30 and Vietnam, Hanoi included, at UTC+7, with no daylight saving for either, and its zone.tab file maps India to that one zone, so Ahmedabad shares it. Neither place changes its clocks, so Hanoi is 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of Ahmedabad all year: 19:00 in Hanoi is 17:30 in Ahmedabad.
| Ahmedabad time | Hanoi time |
|---|---|
| 07:00 | 08:30 |
| 12:00 | 13:30 |
| 17:30 | 19:00 |
| 21:00 | 22:30 |
This is a conversion, not a promise of hours: open slots follow Mike's calendar, and the booking page shows each one in your own time.
IELTS test centre in Ahmedabad: what IDP India says
IDP India manages IELTS testing in India. The British Council's India IELTS FAQ says it does not deliver the IELTS test in India, and IDP India's 2021 announcement says all IELTS tests in India are delivered by IDP from 25 July 2021. So IDP India's site is where to check test options for Ahmedabad.
The table sums up what IDP India's pages say about Ahmedabad, starting with its Ahmedabad page, and adds what the ielts.org test-centre finder shows for the centre. Its test centres page says dates vary by location and test type, and that you choose the test type, location and date when you register.
| Topic | What the providers say |
|---|---|
| Centre | The Ahmedabad page names one IDP IELTS Ahmedabad test centre, in Addor Aspire near L.D Engineer College. Its contact block for IDP IELTS Ahmedabad gives the address as Addor Aspire, Office No. 105-106, First Floor, Gulbai Tekra, Ahmedabad 380015. The page gives no separate venue name and does not say whether this is the only venue in the city. The ielts.org test-centre finder for Ahmedabad lists two locations: "IDP Education India - Ahmedabad" at the same Addor Aspire address, and "Ahmedabad Medhavi Skills University" at 604, 6th Floor, Aayushyaman Plaza. The ielts.org page for the second lists only Life Skills A1 and Life Skills B1, not IELTS Academic or General Training, and the IDP India pages read for this guide do not name it, so IDP India's pages and the ielts.org finder differ on how many Ahmedabad locations exist. Confirm the exact test venue with IDP India when you book, before you travel. |
| Computer-delivered IELTS | The Ahmedabad page says computer-delivered IELTS is available, with slots one to three times a day, excluding public holidays. |
| Paper | The Ahmedabad page's IELTS on Paper tables for Academic and General Training both show no seats available. A separate IDP India page, IELTS on Computer, says IELTS on Paper has been discontinued and describes Writing on Paper (Listening and Reading on computer, Writing by hand) as the new IELTS format. Neither page confirms that Writing on Paper is offered in Ahmedabad, although IDP India's articles on Writing on Paper in India give a start date for the option in India of 1 September 2026 in most of them (with advance booking from 1 July) and of 1 July 2026 in one; ask IDP India whether Ahmedabad offers it. |
Other centres in Gujarat
IDP India's "Test Centres near Ahmedabad" block lists twelve places. Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot are in Gujarat, and the rest, including Pune, Mumbai and Jaipur, are elsewhere in India. Its IELTS on Computer page lists Ahmedabad among its computer test centres, with Anand (VV Nagar), Rajkot, Surat and Vadodara, and its UKVI centre list gives Gujarat addresses for Anand, Mehsana, Rajkot, Surat and Vadodara as well as Ahmedabad. The main city list also names Gandhinagar, Nadiad, Navsari and Vapi without saying what each offers. IDP India's pages do not confirm that every listed centre runs every test type, so check that yours is offered before you choose a city.
Speaking: face to face or video call?
IDP India's pages describe Speaking in two ways. The Ahmedabad page says it takes place in the same facility, face to face with a certified examiner in a soundproof room, while the IELTS on Computer page describes a video call interview with a certified examiner in a quiet room. ielts.org's ways to take IELTS page says that at a test centre Speaking is a face-to-face session, and a video call for IELTS Online, while its Guide for Test Takers says you take Speaking face to face or via video call. Confirm the arrangement for your own booking with IDP India rather than relying on any one page, this one included.
UKVI and One Skill Retake on the Ahmedabad entry
IDP India's list of IELTS for UKVI approved centres has an Ahmedabad entry at the same Addor Aspire address, tagged Accessible IELTS test centre, IELTS on computer, UKVI Approved and One Skill Retake. These tags come from that list, so confirm UKVI, accessibility and One Skill Retake arrangements with IDP India when you book. IDP India's One Skill Retake page does not name Ahmedabad, although one section says the option is available in all cities across India and its Key features box lists Australia, New Zealand and the UK, so check your eligibility in your candidate portal. To weigh one skill against a full retake, see IELTS One Skill Retake or full retake.
India-wide points covered elsewhere
None of the pages read for this guide confirms IELTS Online for India; that and the wider paper, computer and Speaking picture are in computer-delivered IELTS in India. ielts.org says Listening and Speaking are the same in IELTS Academic and General Training while Reading and Writing differ, and says to check the entry requirements of your target country, institution or association before choosing which to take; see Academic or General Training.
Preparing for test day
If you sit the test on computer in Ahmedabad, practise on a screen. Computer-delivered IELTS in India links to the providers' own practice material. The points below are general teaching advice, not guidance from IDP or ielts.org:
- Practise Speaking aloud with a person. Written practice material cannot respond to what you say, whereas a lesson can run Parts 1, 2 and 3 to time with feedback during the session. See one-to-one IELTS Speaking coaching, and use the Speaking Part 2 timer between lessons.
- Time both Writing tasks in one sitting. ielts.org gives Writing as 60 minutes, so rehearse both tasks inside that time. A teacher can mark your answers against the public band descriptors.
This page quotes no test fee, test date or score requirement: IDP India sets fees and dates, and the organisation that receives your result sets the band it needs. No band is promised.
