This page is about Bangkok. For how booking and pricing work across Thailand, see the online IELTS tutor page for Thailand; open times are on the booking page. A Thai-language page about the service is also available; lessons are taught in English. What the test providers say below was read on their sites in October 2026 and can change, so confirm it with them before you book.
Lessons from Bangkok: one-to-one online, in English
Band Booster IELTS is a private tutoring service, not a test centre and not a class. Mike holds the Cambridge CELTA and is based in Hanoi. He teaches every session himself, one-to-one and live on Google Meet, in English, and his own IELTS result is 7.5 overall and 8.5 in Speaking (About Mike). Nothing is taught in Thai, and nothing is taught in person in Bangkok.
The IANA time zone database lists Thailand and northern Vietnam, where Hanoi is, under one zone, Asia/Bangkok, fixed at UTC+7 with no daylight saving (zone list, zone rules). Bangkok and Hanoi therefore show the same time all year, and the booking calendar shows each slot in your own time zone. Mike's calendar decides which slots are open, and no particular hours are promised.
The booking page normally shows your price in your own currency, with the payment options, before you pay (PayPal charges in US dollars, and the exact amount is shown at checkout). A regular session is 60 minutes, and a paid 30-minute trial can be booked once, on a first booking.
IELTS classes in Bangkok, or one-to-one online?
This is one-to-one coaching, not a class. It may suit you if you want live practice in English with feedback on your own Speaking and Writing, at times chosen from the calendar. A class or in-person course in Bangkok may suit you better if you want a teacher in the room, a fixed weekly timetable, classmates or explanations in Thai. Either way no band is promised. See how to choose an online IELTS tutor for a checklist, and online IELTS tutoring by country and city for other pages.
IELTS test centres in Bangkok: what IDP and the British Council list
Band Booster IELTS is a private tutor, not the exam board. It does not run the test, register you for it or set fees and dates, and it is not affiliated with IDP, the British Council or Cambridge. This page names no fees and no test dates; the providers' pages carry them.
You book the test with IDP or the British Council, and both list venues in Bangkok:
| Provider | What its Thailand pages list for Bangkok | Where to check |
|---|---|---|
| IDP | Its test dates page lists eight venues with Bangkok addresses: two in Silom, and one each at Rajdamri, Phayathai, MBK Tower, Asoke, Siam and Thonburi. It lists Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani (where its Rangsit venue is) as separate cities, although its computer-delivery page groups a Rangsit venue under Bangkok. | IDP Thailand test dates and centres; IDP IELTS on computer |
| British Council | Its dates, fees and locations page names eight Bangkok branches: Siam Square, Silom Edge, Samyan Mitrtown, MBK Center, Emsphere, Ladprao, Pinklao and Bangkapi. Its separate test locations page lists nine Bangkok locations, adding one at Siam University. Nonthaburi is listed separately, under its Central region. Check the venue for your session in your booking confirmation. | British Council Thailand dates, fees and locations; test locations |
The ielts.org test centre directory for Thailand lists Bangkok too, with several entries from both providers tagged for computer delivery. Lists differ between a provider's own pages and the ielts.org directory, and they change, so check the venue address and time in your booking confirmation. This page gives areas, not street addresses, and does not rank venues.
Computer delivery and Speaking
Both providers say on their Thailand sites that from 22 March 2026 all IELTS tests are delivered on computer, with the same format, questions and scoring as the paper test. Listening, Reading and Writing are answered on screen (except in IDP's Writing on Paper option, below), and Speaking stays an interview with an examiner. Some provider pages still carry older paper wording; rely on the format shown when you book. For what changes section by section, results timing and test-day basics, see computer-delivered IELTS in Thailand.
Speaking at a Bangkok centre: ask which format applies. ielts.org's Ways to take IELTS and Speaking-format pages describe the test-centre Speaking test as face-to-face with an examiner, but its Guide for Test Takers says you take Speaking face-to-face or via video call. IDP's Speaking format page lists its eight Bangkok centres as face to face, but says the format is generally determined by the test centre and can vary, and recommends checking with IDP if you have a strong preference. The British Council's Thailand Academic page says some of its test centres in Thailand deliver Speaking by video call, taken at the test centre, so ask which applies to your branch. IDP's IELTS on computer page says Speaking may be scheduled before or after the other parts and gives more than one timing for how far apart, while the British Council says you can choose your Speaking slot for IELTS on computer; check the time when you book. IDP's Writing on Paper option: one Bangkok centre
IDP Thailand also describes IELTS (Writing on Paper), in which Listening and Reading are on computer and Writing is handwritten. Its page says this is currently available only at the IDP IELTS Silom - IDP Education centre in Bangkok, and not for IELTS for UKVI. To handwrite your Writing answers, ask IDP whether the option is open for your date; otherwise plan to type.
Results and One Skill Retake
- Results. The British Council's Thailand page says computer results usually arrive 1 to 2 days after you finish all parts of the test, while ielts.org and IDP's computer page give a range of 1 to 5 days. These are typical timings, not promises; the British Council counts from when you finish all parts, which matters if your Speaking is on a different day from the rest.
- One Skill Retake. IDP's venue list marks each of its Bangkok venues as offering it. The British Council offers it in Thailand but requires that your full computer test was taken at a centre that offers it, and ielts.org's directory tags differ between entries, while ielts.org says to check with your centre. ielts.org's rules are a full IELTS on computer test first, one skill retaken within 60 days, and only once per original test. Our guide to One Skill Retake or a full retake compares the two options.
Practising before test day
Both providers publish on-screen practice. IDP's familiarisation test page offers Listening, Academic Reading and Academic Writing, untimed, and IDP says timing, highlighting and notes work differently from the real test. British Council Thailand's computer familiarisation test covers Listening, Reading and Writing for Academic and General Training. Neither lists Speaking, and IDP's page names Academic modules only, so General Training candidates should check what each page offers. IDP's page also describes an in-house mock test, a one-hour session to try IELTS on computer, at IDP IELTS Silom on the 9th floor of Liberty Square Building in Bangkok and at a centre in Chiang Mai; check that page for the schedule and any terms.
This is general advice, not provider guidance. Try a section on screen to see the layout, timing yourself where a practice test is untimed, then bring what you noticed to a lesson. Speaking is practised in the real three-part format, with feedback during the session rather than days later (IELTS Speaking coaching), and Writing Task 1 and Task 2 are marked against the public band descriptors (IELTS Writing feedback). Any price on those two pages is Vietnam's, not yours. Between lessons, the band score calculator shows how four skill scores average into an overall band, and the Speaking Part 2 timer lets you rehearse a long turn. No band is promised.
Which test and score? Ask the organisation
Whether you need Academic or General Training, and at what score, is decided by the university, employer or visa authority that receives your result, so ask them; this page states no score. See Academic versus General Training and IELTS scores for study abroad.
