No time difference: Thailand and Hanoi are both UTC+7
The IANA time zone database puts Thailand and northern Vietnam (where Hanoi is) in the same zone, Asia/Bangkok (zone list). That zone has a fixed offset of UTC+7 and no daylight saving rules (zone rules). So there is no time difference between Thailand and Hanoi at any time of year, and Mike's clock and yours show the same time.
The calendar on the booking page shows open slots in your own timezone, which for you is the same as Hanoi time. Which times are open depends on Mike's teaching schedule, and no particular hours are promised. If you can only study at certain times, look at the calendar before you plan around it.
Online only, and in English rather than Thai
You can join from anywhere in Thailand, but there are no face-to-face lessons in Bangkok or anywhere else, and no group classes. Every lesson is live on Google Meet with Mike.
Lessons are taught entirely in English. Mike does not teach in Thai. If you want explanations in Thai, a course taught in Thai may be a better fit. If your basic grammar and vocabulary are not yet secure, a group course or building your general English first may suit this stage better. If you want a teacher in the same room, a tutor or course in your own city may suit you better.
Taking IELTS in Thailand: IDP, the British Council and computer delivery
Band Booster IELTS is not the exam board. It does not register students for the test, does not set exam fees or dates, and is not affiliated with IDP, the British Council or Cambridge. Mike's CELTA is a teaching qualification and has nothing to do with running IELTS.
IDP and the British Council both offer IELTS in Thailand, according to their own Thailand sites. You register, and check fees, dates and test locations, with the provider directly. The details below come from their pages, read in October 2026, and may change.
- IDP: start from IELTS by IDP Thailand. Its test dates and centres page lets you search for a centre by city, for example Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket. Fees are on its IELTS on computer page.
- British Council: start from IELTS with the British Council in Thailand and see its dates, fees and locations page. The British Council says it offers IELTS on computer at test centres in several areas, including Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket.
Both providers announced on their Thailand sites that from 22 March 2026 all IELTS tests are delivered on computer. IDP also lists an IELTS (Writing on Paper) option, with Listening and Reading on computer and Writing handwritten, so check which format you are booking. Speaking is still a face-to-face interview with an examiner and may be held at a different time from the other parts, so check the Speaking time when you book. The providers and ielts.org say computer results usually arrive within 1 to 2 days, though one IDP page gives 1 to 5 days. These are typical timings, not promises.
Both providers also list IELTS for UKVI (UK Visas and Immigration). This page states no score requirement for any organisation. Before you book a test, ask the university, employer or visa authority that will receive your result which test and score it wants.
If you need to retake one skill
IDP and the British Council in Thailand both list IELTS One Skill Retake, which lets you retake one skill after a full IELTS on computer test. Fees and booking are handled by the provider, and ielts.org explains the eligibility rules. To decide between retaking one skill and retaking the whole test, see IELTS One Skill Retake or full retake.
Thailand's price tier, and where the rest is explained
Thailand is in the same price tier as Vietnam; the booking page shows your price in your currency. The online IELTS tutor, about Mike and private tutor versus group course pages explain how a session runs, who Mike is and whether a group course suits you; they use Vietnam as their example, so any price there is Vietnam's.
