Online IELTS lessons for Delhi: how they work
Lessons are online only. Mike teaches every session himself, one-to-one and live on Google Meet in English, from Hanoi. He holds the Cambridge CELTA, and his own IELTS result is 7.5 overall with 8.5 in Speaking; see about Mike. There is no classroom, batch or group class in Delhi, so you can join from Delhi, Noida, Gurugram or anywhere with a stable internet connection.
A session can cover Listening, Reading, Writing (Task 1 and Task 2, marked against the public band descriptors) or Speaking (Parts 1, 2 and 3 in the real test format), with feedback during the session. Students have reported back three anonymous results: 6.0 to 7.5 overall, 5.5 to 7.0 in Writing and 6.5 to 8.0 in Speaking. These are individual outcomes, not averages or typical results. No band is promised; progress depends on your starting point and the work between sessions.
The online IELTS tutor for India page explains how your price is shown, so this page covers what is specific to Delhi. The booking page shows your price in your own currency, with the payment options, before you pay, and a paid 30-minute trial can be taken once, on your first booking. If you are weighing one-to-one lessons against a batch, how to choose an online IELTS tutor lists the questions worth asking.
IELTS test centres in Delhi: what ielts.org and IDP India list
ielts.org's finder lists two IDP centres in New Delhi whose pages show IELTS Academic and General Training on computer, Pitampura and Nehru Place, plus a third Nehru Place entry whose page lists only Life Skills. IDP India's computer page also lists Rajouri Garden, which ielts.org's finder did not list when read.
Band Booster is a tutor, not a test centre, so you book the test with the provider. IDP India's 2021 announcement said IDP would manage all IELTS testing in India, with all tests delivered by IDP from 25 July 2021 under an agreement with the British Council. The sources below do not agree on every detail, so this page gives no street addresses: use the venue on your booking confirmation, and check the ielts.org finder again before you book.
| Source | What it says about Delhi |
|---|---|
| ielts.org test-centre finder, India | Three entries with New Delhi in the name. Two IDP centres, Pitampura and Nehru Place, are each tagged Computer and One Skill Retake; the third, a Nehru Place Speaking entry, carries neither tag. The city filter also offers Noida and Gurugram. |
| ielts.org pages for Nehru Place and Pitampura | Each lists IELTS Academic and General Training on computer, and IELTS UKVI Academic and General Training on computer. |
| ielts.org entry IDP New Delhi (Nehru Place) - Speaking | A third Nehru Place entry; its page lists only Life Skills A1 and B1, not Academic or General Training. |
| IDP India, IELTS on Computer page | Lists New Delhi (Nehru Place), New Delhi (Pitampura) and New Delhi (Rajouri Garden), with Gurugram and Noida as separate entries. |
| IDP India, New Delhi page | Names Pitampura and Nehru Place under its "How to reach" heading. Its booking section offers four test choices, but the page text does not say which location runs which, and it still carries an "IELTS on Paper" block that shows no seats for Academic and General Training. |
| IDP India, test centres page | Lists New Delhi, Noida and Gurgaon as separate cities. |
Rajouri Garden is on IDP India's computer page but was not among ielts.org's New Delhi results when read, so treat it as unconfirmed and check it before you plan around it.
Computer, Speaking and retake: what to confirm for Delhi
The India-wide detail is on pages that already cover it: computer-delivered IELTS in India for paper versus computer, results timing and practice material, and IELTS Speaking tutor for India for how Speaking is held. For Delhi, confirm these on your booking:
- Which test. IDP India's computer page says IELTS on Paper has been discontinued and presents IELTS (Writing on Paper) instead, with Listening and Reading on computer and Writing by hand. Its Writing on Paper page describes paper as ending from mid-2026 and says test takers in selected locations can choose Writing on Paper, without naming the locations, while its articles on Writing on Paper in India give a start date for the option in India of 1 September 2026 in most of them (with advance booking from 1 July) and of 1 July 2026 in one. Prepare for computer, and confirm the format and location when you book.
- How Speaking is held. Speaking is an interview with an examiner, but ielts.org and IDP India's pages do not all describe it the same way, as face to face or by video call. Confirm the arrangement for your booking. IELTS Online is not confirmed for India: ielts.org says it is offered only in some countries, for Academic only, and neither its page nor the IDP India pages read name India.
- One Skill Retake. ielts.org's finder tags the Pitampura and Nehru Place centres with it. ielts.org says the full test must be IELTS on computer at a centre that offers the option, and the retake must be sat within 60 days, once per original test. IDP India's own page words its availability inconsistently, so check your eligibility in the candidate portal, and ask the receiving organisation whether it accepts a retake result. See One Skill Retake or full retake.
- Academic, General Training or UKVI. The Pitampura and Nehru Place centre pages list all three on computer. ielts.org advises checking the entry requirements of your target country, institution or association before you choose; our comparison is Academic or General Training.
Delhi time and Hanoi time
Hanoi is 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of Delhi, all year. CSIR-NPL, which maintains Indian Standard Time, shows IST as UTC + 5:30, and the IANA time zone database gives India one zone with a fixed 5:30 offset and no current daylight-saving rule. The same database puts Hanoi at UTC+7, also with none, so 19:00 in Hanoi is 17:30 in Delhi and 20:00 in Hanoi is 18:30 in Delhi.
Mike's calendar decides which slots are open, and no particular hours are promised. The booking page shows every slot already converted to your own time.
What to practise before test day
The practice tests from IDP India and ielts.org, and what each covers, are listed on computer-delivered IELTS in India, so they are not repeated here.
General teaching advice (not from IDP India or ielts.org)
This is general study advice and promises no band. Time yourself: write both Writing tasks in one 60-minute sitting, typed, or by hand if you plan to choose Writing on Paper. Practise Speaking aloud with another person, because the real test is an interview with an examiner.
Lessons are for live feedback on your own answers: your Writing marked against the public band descriptors with the corrections explained (IELTS Writing feedback), and Speaking Parts 1, 2 and 3 practised in the real format with feedback in the moment (IELTS Speaking coaching). The band score calculator and Speaking Part 2 timer help between lessons.
Fees, dates and registration
Test fees and dates are published on IDP India's own pages and can change, so this page quotes neither. Start from IDP India's New Delhi page, test dates page and fee page.
Band Booster IELTS is a private tutoring service. It does not register candidates, set exam fees or dates, or provide the test, and it is not part of IDP, the British Council or Cambridge.
