The Arlington test centre that ielts.org files under Washington DC Metro
This section follows ielts.org's page for the centre, read in October 2026. Listings change, so confirm everything on the centre's ielts.org page before you plan. Band Booster IELTS is a private online tutor and has no link with the centre: it does not book IELTS tests, hold places, set exam fees or dates, or issue results.
ielts.org prints the address as 2121 15th St N, Suite 3A, Arlington, Virginia 22201 and files it under the finder label Washington DC Metro. That is a metro-area label: the address is in Arlington, Virginia, not in the District of Columbia itself. This page gives no distances or travel times, so check the route from wherever you will be staying.
Tests the ielts.org page lists for the centre
| Test | Delivery as the listing words it |
|---|---|
| IELTS Academic | Computer, and Computer (Writing on Paper) |
| IELTS General Training | Computer, and Computer (Writing on Paper) |
| UKVI Academic | Computer |
| UKVI General Training | Computer |
The table shows these four entries only; read the ielts.org page itself for everything else it shows. Whether an option is open on your date is for the centre to say.
Getting to the centre: Courthouse Metro station, and no parking provided
The centre has its own web page, which its ielts.org listing links to (the centre's own page). On it, the centre says the nearest Metro station is Courthouse, which it describes as steps from the test centre. The same page says the centre does not provide, reserve, validate or reimburse parking for test takers, so if you plan to drive, arrange parking yourself.
These are the centre's own statements, read in October 2026, not ielts.org's, so confirm them with the centre before you travel. This page quotes no walking time or distance. For identification and other test-day rules, which this page does not cover, see IELTS test day in the US.
Days, formats and options: what the centre says, and where the sources differ
ielts.org's page names the tests and how each is delivered. The days, the options the centre does not offer and the paper question come from the centre's own page, and where the two sources differ, this page says so.
Fridays and Saturdays for IELTS on Computer
The centre's own page says IELTS on Computer is available on Fridays and Saturdays. Treat this as the centre's description of its schedule, not ielts.org's. The line belongs to IELTS on Computer, so do not assume it holds for a UKVI test: ask the centre which days and dates you can book for the version you need. This page quotes no test date.
IELTS Online and One Skill Retake: not available here, says the centre
The centre's own page says IELTS Online, which you can take from home, and the one-skill-retake option are not available at the centre. That is the centre's statement about itself, so ask it before you rely on it. For what the retake option is, see One Skill Retake or a full retake.
Paper: the sources do not line up
ielts.org's page for the centre lists computer and computer with Writing on Paper, and it does not list a paper-based test. The centre's own page also describes a paper-based option, which it says is available only on Saturdays. Meanwhile ielts.org's 5 March 2026 notice said it would stop offering IELTS as a paper-based test from mid-2026, with exact timelines varying by market. This page cannot say how that applies at this centre.
Ask the centre which format applies on your date. This page cannot reconcile the three statements and does not advertise a paper test. Prepare for computer, and see computer-delivered IELTS in the United States for what changes on screen.
IELTS for UKVI at the Arlington centre
Text on ielts.org's US page, in the transcript of a video there, says a DC centre offers the only UKVI testing in the US. The page names that centre in plain text and does not link it, so this page reads it as the Arlington centre above, whose ielts.org page lists UKVI Academic and UKVI General Training, each on computer. Confirm that with ielts.org and the centre, and ask which days a UKVI test runs. Which test you need, standard or UKVI, is decided by the organisation or authority that asks for your result, so check with it before you book; requirements change, and Band Booster IELTS gives no visa or immigration advice. IELTS for UKVI in the USA covers the UKVI test in more detail.
Hanoi and Washington time: 12 hours apart on standard time, 11 on daylight time
Washington, DC and Arlington, Virginia both keep Eastern time. NIST's local time table lists the Eastern zone as EST -5 on standard time and EDT -4 on daylight time, that is UTC-5 and UTC-4. The IANA time zone database lists Vietnam with a plain UTC+7 and no daylight saving, so Hanoi stays on UTC+7 all year. Subtracting the offsets, Hanoi is 12 hours ahead of Eastern standard time and 11 hours ahead of Eastern daylight time.
US clocks change twice a year and Hanoi's does not, so a lesson at a fixed Hanoi time moves by an hour on your clock. This page lists no changeover dates. The table converts times and is not a list of open slots: Mike's calendar decides which times are open, and no particular hours are promised.
| Washington time | Hanoi, on standard time (12 hours ahead) | Hanoi, on daylight time (11 hours ahead) |
|---|---|---|
| 07:00 | 19:00, same day | 18:00, same day |
| 20:00 | 08:00, next day | 07:00, next day |
| 21:00 | 09:00, next day | 08:00, next day |
An evening in Washington is a morning in Hanoi. The booking page shows every slot in your own time zone, so check the time there before you confirm, especially around a clock change or your test day.
Online lessons with Mike: no centre or classroom in the Washington DC area
Mike teaches every lesson himself: one-to-one, live on Google Meet and in English. He holds the Cambridge CELTA (July 2017), teaches from Hanoi and scored 8.5 in Speaking in his own IELTS; About Mike has more. Band Booster IELTS has no classroom, group class or test centre in the Washington DC area, and lessons are online wherever you sit the test.
A lesson can cover Listening, Reading, Writing (Task 1 and Task 2, marked against the public band descriptors) or Speaking (Parts 1, 2 and 3 in the real test format), with feedback during the lesson rather than days later and written progress notes in your account afterwards. A lesson can be recorded on request. See IELTS Speaking coaching, IELTS Writing feedback and the Speaking tutor page for the USA.
This is one lesson, one student, not a class. A class can suit you better if you want a fixed timetable and classmates, because lessons depend on the slots Mike has open; how to choose an online IELTS tutor lists questions worth asking any tutor.
Price, booking and rescheduling
Your price appears in your own currency on the booking page before you pay. A regular session lasts 60 minutes, and your first booking can be a paid 30-minute trial, available once per student. There is no subscription and no package to commit to. You can pay with PayPal, using a card through PayPal guest checkout if you prefer. Rescheduling is at no charge up to 12 hours before the slot, and a cancellation inside 12 hours is not refunded. No band score is promised: progress depends on your starting point and the work you do between sessions. The steps are on the online IELTS tutor page for the USA.
Questions to ask the centre before you book the test
Exam fees and test dates are not set by Band Booster, so this page quotes no exam fee and no test date; check both with the centre. Before you book, it is worth asking:
- Which format will my test be on my date: computer, computer with Writing on Paper, or something else?
- Which days can I book, and is the version I need (Academic, General Training or a UKVI version) offered on those days?
- Do the name and address on my booking confirmation match the listing I chose?
- If I drive, where do I park? If I use the Metro, is Courthouse still the nearest station?
Which version and which score you need is decided by the university, employer or authority that asks for your result, and its own page says what it requires; see Academic or General Training. For other US centres, see IELTS test centres in the USA. Living in New York instead? Read the New York page.
