How IELTS results reach you in the UAE
After an IELTS test, four things matter: the online view of your result, the Test Report Form (TRF), the copies of the TRF that go to organisations, and, if you disagree with a score, a remark. IDP calls a remark an Enquiry on Results (EOR); the British Council's page speaks of re-marking. IDP and the British Council describe these on their own UAE pages, and the two do not always agree, so use the details for the provider you booked with. If your confirmation email says something different, follow the email.
Read on the providers' UAE pages on 24 October 2026. Rules and timings change, so check the provider's page before you plan around them. This page quotes no exam fee, no remark fee and no test date.
Band Booster IELTS is a private online tutor, not a test centre. Registration, results, TRFs and remarks are matters for IDP, the British Council and their test centres, not for Band Booster.
Viewing your result online
IDP's UAE results page says you can view your IELTS results online for 28 days. It also says this view should not be used as an official confirmation of your performance.
That makes the online view a first look at your scores, not proof of them. If you want to look at your scores again, do it inside the 28 days, and ask the organisation that needs your result what it accepts.
The British Council's route for computer tests is different. Its UAE results page says you can download the electronic version of the Test Report Form (eTRF) from the Test Taker portal 1-2 days after your test, and that computer test takers receive results electronically only. Like every timing on this page, that is a published figure, not a promise.
IDP's Test Report Form: one copy, valid for two years
IDP's UAE results page says you receive only one copy of your Test Report Form, and that it is valid for two years. The same page notes a different rule for some immigration applications, so ask your centre if that applies to you. Whether an organisation accepts a result depends on that organisation, so ask the one that needs yours instead of relying on the two-year figure alone.
To pick up your TRF at the test centre, IDP's page says you must bring the same form of identification you used to register for the test. It also says test centres may not send results by email, phone or fax. For the ID rules on test day, see IELTS test day in the UAE: Emirates ID or passport.
On the British Council side, its UAE results page says a paper TRF is couriered 13 days after the test date, while computer test takers get the eTRF described above. Which one applies depends on the format you booked. The page on computer-delivered IELTS in Dubai and the UAE explains how the providers' pages differ on the format.
TRF copies for organisations
IDP's UAE page says up to five copies of your TRF are sent electronically to the organisations listed on your application form, and it says this is at no charge. That is IDP's own statement, not a Band Booster offer. This page does not cover the British Council's rules on copies, so check its UAE results page.
Two practical points, as general advice rather than provider wording:
- Know your recipients before you book. The copies go to the organisations on the application form, so have their names ready when you apply.
- For anything beyond that, ask. This page does not cover adding an organisation later or ordering more copies, so ask your test centre.
How long do IELTS results take? Ranges, not promises
The UAE pages give different ranges for the same kind of test, and none of them is a promise. The table sets them side by side.
| Source | What it says |
|---|---|
| IDP UAE, results page | IELTS on computer: 1-5 days after your test. The page also lists other formats with longer times. |
| IDP UAE, article on updates to IELTS test delivery (22/04/2026) | Computer-delivered test takers typically receive results in 1-2 days. |
| British Council UAE, results page | IELTS on computer, including IELTS for UKVI: within 1 to 5 days after the test. The eTRF can be downloaded 1-2 days after the test. UKVI Life Skills: 9 days. A paper TRF is couriered 13 days after the test date. |
| British Council UAE, fraud-awareness page | Says it shares computer-delivered results in 5-7 days and paper-based results in 10-12 days. |
The ranges disagree, even within one provider. IDP's results page says 1-5 days for computer, while its article says typically 1-2 days. The British Council's results page says 1 to 5 days for computer, while its fraud-awareness page says 5-7 days for computer and 10-12 days for paper. This page cannot tell you which will apply to your session, and it uses none of them as a promise. Ask your test centre.
Taken together, the computer figures above run from 1 day to 7 days. As general advice, if a deadline depends on your result, do not plan around the shortest figure. For what the providers say about fake certificates and scams, see IELTS scams and fake certificates in the UAE; the British Council's fraud-awareness page is the source of the 5-7 and 10-12 day figures.
Asking for a remark (Enquiry on Results)
If you believe a score is wrong, both providers' UAE pages describe a remark, which the British Council calls a re-mark. On IDP's side you contact the IDP test centre where you took your test; on the British Council's side, start from its results page, which covers re-marking. The request goes to your test centre or provider, not to Band Booster.
| Point | IDP UAE | British Council UAE |
|---|---|---|
| Deadline | Within 6 weeks of sitting your test; lower on the same page, within 6 weeks of the date shown on your TRF | No later than six weeks after the test date |
| Time for the outcome | Remark results available within 2 hours to 21 days | Can take up to 21 days |
| Fee | A fee applies; the page words the refund two ways (see below) | Fees exist; this page quotes no remark fee |
Settle the start point of the six weeks. IDP's request-a-remark page words the window two ways: a remark can be requested within 6 weeks of sitting your test, and, lower on the same page, the request must be made within 6 weeks of the date shown on your TRF. The British Council says no later than six weeks after the test date. As general advice, count from your test date, ask early, and confirm the start point with your centre.
IDP's page says a fee applies, and it words the refund two ways: refunded if the band score changes and, elsewhere on the page, refunded if the result is changed to a higher band score. This page quotes no remark fee, so ask your centre for the amount and the exact refund conditions. A remark is a request to look at a result again; this page says nothing about how likely a change is, and nobody can promise one.
Checking the arithmetic on your result
IELTS band scores run from 0 to 9 in half-band steps. The overall band is the average of your four skill bands, rounded to the nearest half band: an average ending in .25 rounds up to the next half band, and one ending in .75 rounds up to the next whole band. The numbers below are invented only to show the arithmetic; they are not anyone's results, and not the results of any Band Booster student.
| Listening | Reading | Writing | Speaking | Average | Overall band |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6.0 | 6.5 | 6.0 | 6.5 | 6.25 | 6.5 |
| 6.5 | 7.0 | 7.0 | 6.5 | 6.75 | 7.0 |
| 7.0 | 6.5 | 6.5 | 6.0 | 6.50 | 6.5 |
If your own four bands and overall band do not fit this sum, ask your test centre to explain. The band score calculator does the arithmetic for you.
If the result is not the one you needed
A remark is one route, and both providers set a six-week limit. The others depend on what the organisation asking for your result accepts, which only that organisation can tell you; this page names no organisation and states no score. If you are weighing a retake, see IELTS One Skill Retake in the UAE. If you have not yet sat the test and your plans change, see moving or cancelling an IELTS test in the UAE. Not sure which version of the test you need? Read Academic or General Training.
Where Band Booster fits
Band Booster IELTS is a private online tutor, not a test centre. It is independent of IDP, the British Council and Cambridge University Press & Assessment, and it does not register you for the test, set test fees or dates, issue results or decide remarks. Mike, a CELTA-certified teacher based in Hanoi who scored 8.5 in Speaking in his own IELTS, teaches every lesson himself, one-to-one and live on Google Meet in English. See about Mike.
What a lesson offers after a result is practice. Speaking is run in the real three-part format with feedback in the moment, and Writing Task 1 and Task 2 are marked against the public band descriptors; Task 2 counts twice as much as Task 1 in the Writing band. See IELTS Speaking coaching and IELTS Writing feedback. A lesson is not a re-mark and not an IELTS test, and nobody can tell you in advance whether a remark would change a score.
The UAE is in the higher regional price tier, and the booking page shows your price in your own currency, with the payment options, before you pay. The booking calendar shows each slot in your own time zone. A paid 30-minute trial can be taken once, on your first booking, and you can reschedule at no charge up to 12 hours before a session. There is no subscription or package. No band is guaranteed: progress depends on your starting point and the work you do between sessions. Pages for Dubai and the UAE, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah say more.
