Who runs IELTS in Hai Phong
In Vietnam you book IELTS with IDP Vietnam or British Council Vietnam. Each has its own booking system and venue list, and the venue is part of the session you pick.
Band Booster IELTS is an online tutoring service and does not register candidates. This page gives no fees or test dates, because the providers set them and they change. We describe each venue by provider and address, not by the name of the school or language centre that runs it, because we do not name schools or language centres; the names are on the providers' pages linked below. We have no link with any venue.
IDP Vietnam's Hai Phong venues, as listed in October 2026
On 21 October 2026, IDP Vietnam's venue list gave these Hai Phong addresses:

- IDP's Hai Phong session list: sorted nearest first, the 50 sessions that loaded before “Load more” were all at the IDP venue at 149 To Hieu, each on computer with Writing on computer, starting at 08:00 AM or 01:00 PM. We did not load the rest.
- IDP's IDP Hai Phong page: it showed eight sessions, all IELTS Life Skills A1 or B1 (labelled IELTS UKVI), each marked “IELTS on paper”. The same page calls IDP Hai Phong a computer test centre; for Academic or General Training there, select that test type to see.
IDP's test day page lists in-person registration offices in Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho and Nha Trang, with no Hai Phong address, so plan to register online or ask IDP.
British Council in Hai Phong: venue list and booking portal
British Council Vietnam's fees and locations page (in Vietnamese) says it offers IELTS in provinces and cities across Vietnam. Its venue list has one entry under the Hai Phong heading, at 156/109 Truong Chinh, Kien An ward. Its dates and locations page has a Hai Phong table whose last month, when we read it, was April 2026; for current sessions it points to its booking portal.
ielts.org lists a different British Council venue, on Road No. 6, Sao Do, Anh Dung Ward. British Council's venue list does not give that address under Hai Phong, though a download on the same page carries the name ielts.org uses for it. On 22 October 2026 the British Council booking portal, searched for Hai Phong (IELTS Academic and General Training on computer, all available dates), listed only the venue on Road No. 6, Sao Do, Anh Dung Ward, Duong Kinh District among the sessions that loaded; the Truong Chinh address from the venue list did not appear. The portal therefore matches ielts.org rather than British Council's venue list, so check the venue name and address on the session before you pay.
IELTS test centres in Hai Phong on ielts.org's finder
On 21 October 2026 the ielts.org finder, set to Vietnam and Hai Phong, showed 4 results:
- British Council venue, Road No. 6, Sao Do, Anh Dung Ward: Computer;
- British Council venue, same address: Computer, One Skill Retake;
- IDP venue, 149 To Hieu Street: Computer, One Skill Retake;
- IDP IELTS Vietnam - Hai Phong, 2G Tran Hung Dao Street: Computer, One Skill Retake.
The first two share an address: ielts.org splits one venue into two records, not two venues. With “UKVI Approved” ticked, the finder showed 0 results for Hai Phong, while the same filter for Hanoi listed IDP and British Council centres. That does not match the IELTS UKVI label on the Life Skills sessions at IDP Hai Phong, so if you need a test for a UK visa, ask the provider first.
One Skill Retake in Hai Phong
For IDP, the sources we read agree: both Hai Phong venues carry the retake label on IDP's venue list, all 50 sessions that loaded said “One Skill Retake available”, and ielts.org marks both IDP records with One Skill Retake. For British Council, ielts.org shows it on one of the two records at the Road No. 6 address.
- IDP's One Skill Retake page: you must have taken the full test on computer at a centre that offers One Skill Retake, register within 60 days of the original test, and retake once per test. You may retake at another centre, but only with the same provider.
- British Council's page: you must sit the retake within 60 days of your full computer test and have received your results from a centre that offers it.

Computer test days, paper and Speaking
IDP's computer-test schedule shows Hai Phong as “7 ngày/ tuần” (7 days a week) in every month column from April to December 2026, and notes that every computer test day includes Academic and General Training. That is the schedule, not the seats left.
Paper. IDP says IDP IELTS Vietnam has stopped running IELTS on paper, and that its Writing on Paper option runs at 3 points, in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. British Council Vietnam offers IELTS on computer and IELTS on computer with Writing on Paper, so check the format shown on the session. ielts.org labels all four Hai Phong records Computer.
Speaking. The providers word this differently:
- IDP's Hai Phong page says Speaking is done by video call with an IELTS examiner at its two Hai Phong venues (2G Tran Hung Dao and 149 To Hieu), while IDP's general format table says face to face with an examiner. Check which applies on your session.
- IDP says its flexible schedule in the provinces lets you choose your Speaking date; usually Listening, Reading and Writing are in one session and Speaking in the other session the same day, and at some IDP venues Speaking may be the day before.
- British Council says you can choose your Speaking slot and format, face to face or by video call, and that Listening, Reading and Writing run on the same day with no break, in a morning (9:00 to 12:00) or afternoon (14:00 to 17:00) session. The pages we read do not say which Speaking format its Hai Phong venue uses.

Choosing a venue: what to check
- Test type. Academic or General Training (see which to take); for UKVI, ask first.
- Venue and address. Check the address shown on your booking and plan your journey.
- Speaking. Read the Speaking format and day on the session and in your confirmation.
- Retake plans. If you may want One Skill Retake, book a computer session at a venue that shows it, with the provider you would retake with.
