What this guide covers, and what it leaves out
Everything below was read on 24 October 2026 on IDP Taiwan's pages, the ielts.org test centre finder and the UK Home Office list of approved test centres outside the UK. Venue lists change, so the booking confirmation you receive from the provider is what applies to you. Band Booster IELTS does not register students, hold places or set exam fees and dates, so this page gives no exam fee, no test date and no count of venues.
The ielts.org entries for Taipei already sit in a table on the online IELTS tutor in Taipei page, so this guide does not repeat that table. It adds what that page does not carry: the station exits IDP prints, the test types IDP lists at each of its venues, the UK Home Office list and the two addresses IDP's pages give for one venue.
The venues IDP names in Taipei, at a glance
| Venue, as IDP prints it | Address (English form) | Station and exit (IDP Taiwan) | Test types on IDP's venue page |
|---|---|---|---|
| IDP Taipei | 6F, No. 289, Sec. 4, Zhongxiao East Rd, Da'an District | Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall Station (MRT Blue Line), Exit 1 | Academic, General Training, UKVI Academic, UKVI General Training |
| Time Taipei | 8F, No. 34, Guanqian Rd, Zhongzheng District (but see the two addresses below) | Taipei Station (Red and Blue lines), through the underground mall to exit Z2 | Academic, General Training (no UKVI types listed) |
Addresses and routes come from IDP Taiwan's test centres page, which prints them in Chinese; the English forms here are renderings. Test types come from IDP's venue pages, which are titled as computer IELTS venues. The test types show what IDP lists for the venue, not what is open on a given date: dates are on IDP's test dates page.
IDP Taipei
IDP Taiwan's test centres page gives IDP Taipei at 6F, No. 289, Sec. 4, Zhongxiao East Rd, Da'an District, and gives the MRT access as Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall Station on the Blue Line, Exit 1.
IDP's venue page for IDP Taipei lists four test types: IELTS Academic, IELTS General Training, UKVI Academic and UKVI General Training. The UKVI section below sets those types beside the Home Office list.
Time Taipei
The same IDP page gives Time Taipei at 8F, No. 34, Guanqian Rd, Zhongzheng District, reached from Taipei Station (Red and Blue lines) through the underground mall, exit Z2. IDP's venue page for Time Taipei lists only Academic and General Training and no UKVI test types. IDP's own pages give a second address for this venue, set out in the next section.
The ielts.org finder lists an entry named Time Taipei (8F, No. 34 Guanqian Rd.), with the address 8F, No. 34, Guangqian Road, tagged Computer and One Skill Retake. The road is spelled Guanqian on IDP's pages and in ielts.org's entry name, but Guangqian in ielts.org's address line. Both are as printed, so if you search a map or the finder, try either spelling.
Two addresses on IDP's own pages
IDP's own pages do not agree on where Time Taipei is. The header of IDP's venue page for Time Taipei and the address block lower on the same page print No. 1, Sec. 1, Hankou St, 6F (in Chinese, 台北市漢口街一段 1 號 6 樓), and the computer-labelled row for this venue in the venue table on IDP's test dates page carries that address too. IDP's test centres page, the session cards on the same venue page (which read "Time Taipei (8F, No. 34 Guanqian Rd.)") and ielts.org give 8F, No. 34 Guanqian Rd., and the test dates page also prints that address against a paper-labelled row.
This guide cannot tell you which address applies to your booking. The table above uses the address on IDP's test centres page. Compare the address on your booking confirmation with both addresses before you travel, and ask IDP if it matches neither.
British Council entries on ielts.org, by street address
The ielts.org finder also lists British Council venues in Taipei. This guide describes them by street address and gives no route to them.
- 9F-1, No. 149, Section 3, XinYi Rd.: more than one ielts.org listing shares this address, under two entry names, and the tags differ. Some listings are tagged UKVI Approved, Computer and One Skill Retake; at least one listing tagged UKVI Approved shows no Computer tag; others carry Computer and One Skill Retake without UKVI Approved.
- 13, No. 17, Xuchang St, Zhongzheng District (as ielts.org prints it, punctuation tidied): a British Council venue tagged Computer and One Skill Retake.
The tags are ielts.org's own English labels. Because listings at one address carry different tags, treat a missing tag as a reason to ask the provider, not as an answer. One Skill Retake or a full retake sets out the difference between the two.
UKVI listings: IDP, ielts.org and the UK Home Office
The UK Home Office publishes a list of approved test centres outside the UK for secure English language tests (SELT), linked from the GOV.UK SELT page. In the October 2026 version, a file dated 09.10.2026 (9 October 2026), the IELTS SELT Consortium rows for Taipei are IDP Taipei and BC Taipei - TAS. The second row gives an address in the Xinyi Building at 9F-1, No. 149, Sec. 3, XinYi Rd., which is the address where ielts.org tags a British Council entry as UKVI Approved.
The three sources point the same way. IDP's venue page lists UKVI test types at IDP Taipei and not at Time Taipei, the Home Office list names IDP Taipei and BC Taipei - TAS, and ielts.org tags IDP Taipei and a British Council entry at the Xinyi address as UKVI Approved. The Home Office file is dated, so a later version may differ: all this page can say is what was listed in October 2026.
Which test your route needs is for the authority or institution that will receive your result to say, and this guide gives no visa advice. IELTS for UKVI in Taiwan covers how UKVI IELTS differs and what GOV.UK says, and also IELTS Life Skills.
Paper-labelled rows for the regular tests are out of date
IDP Taiwan's test day page states that from 1 February 2026 all IELTS in Taiwan is on computer and paper tests are no longer offered. IDP's test dates page still carries paper-labelled Taipei rows in its venue table. For the regular Academic and General Training tests this guide follows IDP's written statement, does not read those rows as current venues and leaves them unnamed. The statement does not mention IELTS Life Skills, which the UKVI page covers, so check the format on any Life Skills session you book. For what changes for the candidate, see computer-delivered IELTS in Taiwan.
A checklist before you travel
- Read the venue name and address on your booking confirmation. For Time Taipei, compare it with both addresses in the section on Time Taipei's two addresses above.
- Check that the test type you booked is one your venue lists. In IDP's pages, UKVI types appear at IDP Taipei and not at Time Taipei.
- Plan your route from the station and exit IDP prints in the table above.
- Ignore paper-labelled rows for the regular Academic and General Training tests: IDP Taiwan says these are on computer. For Life Skills, see the UKVI page.
- Read the guide to test day in Taiwan for arrival time and what you can bring, and the guide to registration and passport rules before you book.
- If your booking is in another city, see test centres in Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung.
Lessons alongside the test
Band Booster IELTS is a private tutoring service, not a test centre, and a lesson is practice, not an IELTS test. Mike, a Cambridge CELTA-certified teacher based in Hanoi who scored 8.5 in IELTS Speaking, teaches every session himself, one-to-one over Google Meet and in English. A session can cover Listening, Reading, Writing (Task 1 and Task 2, marked against the public band descriptors) or Speaking (Parts 1, 2 and 3 in the real test format), with feedback during the session rather than days later. About Mike has more.
IDP Taiwan says the test is on computer, so it is worth practising on screen; computer-delivered IELTS in Taiwan lists the practice material the providers publish. A timed answer is something you can bring to a lesson for feedback during the session.
The booking calendar shows each slot in your own time zone, and the booking page shows your price in your own currency before you pay. Your first booking can be the paid 30-minute trial, available once per student. You can reschedule at no charge up to 12 hours before the slot, and no band is promised. The Taipei page and the Taiwan page explain more; the booking page shows open times.
