How lessons work for someone in Bandung
Every lesson is online. Band Booster has no classroom or test centre in Bandung and runs no group classes: Mike teaches you alone, live on Google Meet, in English rather than Bahasa Indonesia. He holds the Cambridge CELTA (July 2017), teaches every session himself from Hanoi, scored 8.5 in Speaking in his own IELTS, and has taught English and IELTS for 12+ years in Vietnam, Turkey and Iran (about Mike).
A session can cover Listening, Reading, Writing (Task 1 and Task 2, marked against the public band descriptors) or Speaking (Parts 1, 2 and 3 in the real test format), with feedback during the session and written progress notes afterwards. See IELTS Speaking coaching, the Speaking page for Indonesia and IELTS Writing feedback. No band is promised: progress depends on your starting point and the work between sessions. Price, payment and booking steps are the same across Indonesia and are on the Indonesia page: the booking page shows your price in your own currency before you pay, there is no subscription or package, and a paid 30-minute trial is available once per student, on a first booking.
If you were looking for IELTS classes in Bandung, this is one-to-one coaching instead: a class can suit you better if you want a fixed weekly timetable or classmates, and how to choose an online IELTS tutor lists what to ask any tutor, this one included. Your city makes no difference to online lessons. It matters for the test and for the clock, which is what the rest of this page covers.
Time zone: Bandung and Hanoi
Two of the three Bandung addresses below end with Jawa Barat, which is West Java. The IANA time zone database lists “Java, Sumatra” under the Asia/Jakarta zone, and its Asia file labels UTC+7 as WIB, Waktu Indonesia Barat (western Indonesia). Both the Asia/Jakarta and the Ho Chi Minh entries are plain UTC+7 with no daylight saving rules, and the file says the Ho Chi Minh entry agrees with all of Vietnam since 1975-06-13, so Hanoi is at UTC+7 too.
None of these sources says in so many words that Bandung is in WIB; this page takes West Java to be part of Java and so reads Bandung as WIB. On that reading the difference from Hanoi is zero hours all year: 19:00 in Hanoi is 19:00 in Bandung. The calendar on the booking page shows each slot in your own time zone, so there is nothing to convert, and no particular hours are promised. Parts of Indonesia that are ahead of Hanoi are on the Indonesia page.
IELTS test venues in Bandung: what IDP, the ielts.org finder and the British Council list
Three venues with Bandung addresses turned up across IDP's Indonesia pages, the ielts.org test-centre finder and the British Council's Indonesia pages, read in October 2026 (the finder and the British Council pages on 24 October). IDP's test dates and locations page lists IDP Bandung, IDP's Bandung page adds a second venue, and the ielts.org finder repeats both and adds a third under the British Council's name, at an address the British Council's own locations page lists too. Venues other than IDP's own are described here by address, not by name, because Band Booster does not name schools or language centres; the names are on the providers' pages linked here.
| Listed by | Venue as listed | Address as listed | What the pages show |
|---|---|---|---|
| IDP | IDP Bandung | Jl. Gardujati No. 75, Kebon Jeruk, Kota Bandung, Jawa Barat 40181 | Has a centre page with regular opening hours and a list of sessions |
| IDP | A venue at a university address, with an “IDP IELTS Indonesia” label on IDP's Bandung page (IDP's page for this venue) | Jl. Sariasih No. 54, Sarijadi, Kec. Sukasari, Kota Bandung, Jawa Barat 40151 | Listed by IDP; the pages read do not say who operates it |
| British Council, on the ielts.org finder and on its own locations page | A venue listed under the British Council's name | Komp. Setrasari Mall B4-100, Jalan Terusan Surya Soemantri, Bandung 40163 | Three finder cards share this address, all tagged Computer; the British Council lists the same address |
Band Booster IELTS is a private tutor, not the exam board or a test centre. It does not register students, set exam fees or choose test dates, and it is not affiliated with IDP or the British Council. No exam fee or test date is quoted here because those change, and lists, tags and sessions change too, so confirm the address and format with the provider before you book. Band Booster does not rate or compare venues.
IDP Bandung
IDP's list gives the address above and prints 022 600 4089 as the centre's phone number; check IDP's page before you call. The centre page gives regular opening hours of Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00. Those are opening hours, not test times, so read the date and start time on the session itself.
The second IDP-listed venue, at a university address in Sarijadi
IDP's Bandung page shows a second venue under a label that starts “IDP IELTS Indonesia” and then names the university site; IDP's own page for it gives a university address on Jl. Sariasih in Sarijadi, in the Sukasari district. Being listed by IDP is not the same as being run by IDP, and the pages read do not say who operates this venue.
The British Council-listed venue in Setrasari
The finder lists a third Bandung venue under the British Council's name, at Komp. Setrasari Mall B4-100, Jalan Terusan Surya Soemantri, postcode 40163, on three cards that all carry a Computer tag. The British Council's own pages list Bandung too (read 24 October 2026): its dates, fees and locations page names Bandung among the cities where it offers IELTS on Computer, and its locations page lists a Bandung venue at the same Setrasari address. Use those pages for current details and confirm the address on your booking.
Where the lists differ, and what the tags show
- The lists overlap, and the labels differ. IDP's pages list two venues: IDP Bandung, which has its own centre page, and a second venue whose session label reads “IDP IELTS Indonesia -” followed by the initials of the university site. The ielts.org finder repeats both and adds the British Council venue, on three cards that share one address. A label shows whose name a listing carries; it does not state who runs the venue. This page did not check each venue against every list, so do not read the table as complete.
- The tags are different tags. The IDP session cards read for Bandung carried “IELTS dengan komputer” (IELTS on computer), “Writing on computer” and “Results in 1 to 5 days”; the finder cards for the Setrasari address all carry Computer, and two of the three also carry One Skill Retake. One list's tag is not evidence for another's, and this page does not say which Bandung venues offer One Skill Retake, so ask the provider whether your session does.
Only the sessions displayed on IDP's pages were read, so this page cannot say that every Bandung session is on computer: check the tag on the session you book. The British Council's dates, fees and locations page names Bandung among its IELTS on Computer cities and says it will no longer offer IELTS on paper in Indonesia starting 21 June 2026. The 1 to 5 days is a range of typical timings, not a promise, so allow for the longer end if you have a deadline. Speaking is an interview with an examiner in three parts, 11 to 14 minutes in all; ask your provider how and when your own Speaking test will be held at the venue you choose. The wider paper-and-computer picture is in computer-delivered IELTS in Indonesia, and how the lists compare across Indonesian cities is in IELTS test venues in Indonesia.
IELTS for UKVI, Life Skills and the GOV.UK list
IDP Bandung's centre page lists Academic for UKVI, General Training for UKVI, Life Skills A1 and Life Skills B1 as options in its test-type filter, next to IELTS Academic and General Training. A filter option does not show that a session exists: in the sessions displayed, every session was IELTS Academic or General Training. This page makes no claim for the other two venues.
GOV.UK publishes a list of approved test centres outside the UK (a spreadsheet; the October 2026 edition was read). It has seven rows for Indonesia, and the IELTS rows are IDP Bali, a row labelled BC Jakarta - Office, and IDP South Jakarta. So the list shows no IELTS centre in Bandung; the other rows are for other providers' tests, in Jakarta and Tangerang, and this page does not describe them. The IELTS rows are in Jakarta and Bali: see the Jakarta and Bali pages for the clock and test venues there.
Whether your visa route needs a UKVI test is decided by the visa rules, not by this page, which gives no visa or travel advice. Check GOV.UK and the provider before you book, and see IELTS for UKVI in Indonesia.
Before you book a test in Bandung
- Ask who needs your result. The organisation receiving it decides which test and score it needs (see Academic vs General Training and IELTS scores for study abroad); this page states no target score.
- Open a session, not just a city page. Read the venue's name and address on the session and on your confirmation. The three venues above have three different addresses (Jl. Gardujati, Jl. Sariasih in Sarijadi, and Setrasari), so trust the address over the name.
- Read the rules before you pay. Booking IELTS in Indonesia covers ID, test day and changing a date at IDP Indonesia; the British Council has its own rules on its own pages. If one skill may need a retake, see One Skill Retake or a full retake, and ask the provider whether your session offers it.
Preparing while you wait for a session
The IDP sessions read were tagged Writing on computer, so practise typing as well as writing. This is general teaching advice, not guidance from IDP or the British Council: type a Writing answer under the 60-minute limit (Task 1 needs at least 150 words, Task 2 at least 250, and Task 2 counts twice as much) and bring it to a lesson, where Mike marks it against the public band descriptors and gives feedback during the session. The Speaking Part 2 timer and the band score calculator help between lessons, and computer-delivered IELTS in Indonesia covers practice for the computer format in more detail.
