Check Google Meet first if you are in Nanjing
Lessons run on Google Meet, and Google services are generally not reachable in mainland China without extra tools. The UK government's China travel advice, read in October 2026, says some services are permanently blocked there, including Google. It does not name Google Meet, so this page cannot say whether Meet opens on your network.
Before you book, check that the booking page and Google Meet both open from where you will have the lesson, and message Mike if you are not sure. No other platform is promised. You can reach Mike at mkcenter007@gmail.com or +84 383 390 963 (Zalo, WhatsApp, Telegram on the same number); use whichever you can open from where you are.
How one-to-one lessons with Mike work from Nanjing
Mike holds the Cambridge CELTA (July 2017) and is based in Hanoi, where he teaches every session himself, live on Google Meet and in English. He has 12+ years of experience teaching English and IELTS in Vietnam, Turkey and Iran. There is no classroom, centre or group class in Nanjing, and the lessons are not in Mandarin. In his own IELTS, Mike scored 8.5 in Speaking; About Mike has more.
A session can cover Listening, Reading, Writing (Task 1 and Task 2, marked against the public band descriptors) or Speaking (Parts 1, 2 and 3 in the real test format), with feedback during the session rather than days later. Written progress notes appear in your account after each session, and a session can be recorded on request. See IELTS Speaking coaching and IELTS Writing feedback. No band is promised: progress depends on your starting point and the work you do between sessions.
The booking calendar shows every slot in your own time zone, and your price appears in your own currency on the booking page before you pay. A regular session lasts 60 minutes, there is no subscription or package to commit to, and a paid 30-minute trial can be booked once, on your first booking. You can reschedule at no charge up to 12 hours before the slot. Online IELTS tutor for China has the booking steps and how prices are shown.
Searching for IELTS classes in Nanjing?
That search may bring up group classes. This is different: one-to-one coaching online, with no centre or classroom in Nanjing. A class can suit a fixed timetable and classmates; one-to-one lessons follow your own answers and essays but depend on which slots are open in Mike's calendar. Private tutor versus group course compares the two, using Hanoi as its example.
Where the IELTS test can be taken in Nanjing
Band Booster IELTS is a private tutor, not a test centre. It does not register you for the test or set exam fees and dates, so this page quotes no exam fee or test date, and it has no connection with NEEA, the British Council, IDP or any centre named below. This section was read in October 2026; lists change, so confirm your own centre when you book. For the picture across the country, see IELTS test centres in mainland China.
Nanjing appears on three lists, and the ielts.org finder does not match the two registration-site lists:
| List | What it shows for Nanjing |
|---|---|
| Registration site, IELTS on computer | Five centres, each with an address and a note on how to get there (our own count) |
| Registration site, IELTS UKVI on computer | A matching entry, with _UKVI added to the name, for each of the same five |
| ielts.org test-centre finder, filtered to China | One result, IDP IELTS China Nanjing Qinhuai, tagged Computer and One Skill Retake |
The registration site lists five Nanjing centres
The NEEA IELTS registration site, ielts.neea.cn, is run with the British Council. Its list of computer-delivered centres has five rows under Nanjing (our own count; the page prints no totals). In the same count, Beijing and Shanghai show more than Nanjing's five, and Guangzhou shows five too. Names and addresses below are as the English version of the page prints them, with spacing tidied; the notes are the page's transit notes, shortened.
| Centre, as the page prints it | Address, as the page prints it | Note on the page |
|---|---|---|
| Jiangsu Communication and Media School (JSBC Gulou Litchi Plaza) IOC Test Centre | No.4 East Beijing Road, Xuanwu District, Nanjing | The computer test site is on the 8th floor of Litchi Plaza, which the page calls a landmark in the centre of Nanjing; the note also names Gulou subway station, on Lines 1 and 4 |
| Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology IOC Test Centre | No.219, Ningliu Road, Nanjing, Jiangsu, China | Subway: Line S8 to University of Information Science and Technology Station |
| Nanjing Forestry University IOC Test Centre | No.159, Longpan Road, Xuanwu District, Nanjing, Jiangsu | Subway: Line 3 from Nanjing railway station to Nanjing Forestry University Xinzhuang Station |
| Nanjing University of Science and Technology ZiJin College IOC Test Centre | No. 89, Wenlan Road, Qixia District, Nanjing, Jiangsu | Subway: Line 2 to Yang Shan Park Station, which the page says is 3km away from the campus |
| Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics IOC Test Centre | 29 Jiangjun Avenue, Jiangning District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu | Metro Line S1 from Nanjingnan station to Cuipingshan |
The five entries sit in four districts: two in Xuanwu (the Litchi Plaza centre and Nanjing Forestry University), one in Qixia, one in Jiangning and, according to the Chinese version of the page, one in Pukou (Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology, whose English entry prints no district). The notes name Lines 1 and 4 (Litchi Plaza), S8, 3, 2 and S1, and most also list bus routes.
This page does not rank the five centres or say which is closer to you, and it cannot tell you which one your own test will be at: the venue, address and room for your tests appear on your personal page and admission card (see "Before you travel" below).
What the Chinese version of the list adds
The Chinese version of the list gives the same five centres under these names: 江苏传媒学校(江苏广电鼓楼荔枝广场)雅思机考考点, 南京信息工程大学雅思机考考点, 南京林业大学雅思机考考点, 南京理工大学紫金学院雅思机考考点 and 南京航空航天大学雅思机考考点. Comparing the two versions, the main facts agree, but three Chinese entries add details the English ones omit:
- Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology: the Chinese address puts the centre in Pukou District (浦口区), and its note adds Exit 2 of the Line S8 station (2号口). The English entry has neither.
- Nanjing Forestry University: the Chinese note adds that the distance from Nanjing railway station is about 2.2 km (距离南京火车站全程约2.2公里). The English note does not give this distance.
- Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics: the Chinese note adds that the walk from Cuipingshan station is about 500 metres (步行500米左右到达). The English note gives no walking distance from the station.
The IELTS UKVI on computer list has matching entries
The registration site keeps a separate list for IELTS UKVI on computer. For Nanjing it carries a matching entry for each of the same five centres, with _UKVI added to the name, such as Jiangsu Communication and Media School (JSBC Gulou Litchi Plaza) IOC Test Centre_UKVI and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics IOC Test Centre_UKVI. This page cannot say which tests or dates run at which centre, so check with the provider you register through. Our guide to IELTS for UKVI in mainland China covers that version of the test in more detail.
What the ielts.org finder shows for Nanjing
When read in October 2026, the ielts.org test-centre finder, filtered to China, showed one Nanjing result: IDP IELTS China Nanjing Qinhuai, with an address in the Qinhuai district, tagged Computer and One Skill Retake. It is not one of the five registration-site centres above, and none of those five appeared on the finder.
These are two different providers' lists. The finder's Nanjing result is an IDP centre, while the five centres above are on the registration site run with the British Council. This page says nothing about IDP China's registration, ID rules, test types or results: check IDP China directly. The One Skill Retake tag refers to the option explained in One Skill Retake or a full retake.
Before you travel
Three notes from the registration site and from British Council China's test-day page, as read in October 2026:
- Read your centre's admission instructions. Every centre entry on the registration site, these five included, carries the note "Please note: Admission Instructions", telling you to read that centre's admission (campus entry) instructions before the test; the page it links to points each centre to its own entry-requirements notice. The Chinese version says the same in other words: 请务必在考试前持续关注“雅思考点入校/入场要求” (keep checking the centre's entry requirements before the test).
- Your written and Speaking rooms may not be at the listed address. The registration site's candidate-notice page (in Chinese), in its section on printing the admission card, says the written-test and Speaking venues and addresses may differ from the centre's listed venue and address. The registration-site list itself shows different written and Speaking rooms for some centres elsewhere, such as Harbin, Zhuhai and Kunming. This page cannot tell you where your own tests will be held.
- Your admission card is what counts. British Council China's test-day page says to log in to your personal page on the registration site to see your candidate number, Speaking time, written and Speaking venue, address and room number, and to print your admission card from it. It also suggests checking the map and choosing how you will travel in advance.
Our guides to registering for IELTS in mainland China and to IELTS test day in mainland China cover the registration steps on the registration site and the day itself.
Check which test your organisation asks for
Academic and General Training differ in Reading and Writing, so check which one your university, employer or immigration body asks for before you book (see Academic versus General Training). This page cannot confirm which test types run at each Nanjing centre, so ask the provider as well. The registration-site list used here is the one for IELTS on computer; computer-delivered IELTS in mainland China explains how that format works.
