Last updated:

Band Booster IELTS offers an online IELTS tutor for Xi'an: one-to-one lessons with Mike, a CELTA-certified teacher in Hanoi who scored 8.5 in IELTS Speaking, live in English on Google Meet. The IELTS registration site lists three Xi'an centres, all at universities; Google services are generally not reachable in mainland China without extra tools, so check that Google Meet opens before you book.

Price: CNY 232.74 for a 60-minute one-to-one lesson; CNY 64.65 for the paid 30-minute trial. Amounts use the same price tiers as the booking page, in your local currency at exchange rates set on 6 October 2026. The booking page shows the exact amount before you pay, and PayPal charges the US-dollar equivalent (USD 34.66 for a 60-minute lesson).

Check Google Meet first if you are in Xi'an

Lessons run on Google Meet, and Google services are generally not reachable in mainland China without extra tools. The UK government's China travel advice, read in October 2026, says some services are permanently blocked there, including Google. It does not name Google Meet, so this page cannot say whether Meet opens on your network.

Before you book, check that the booking page and Google Meet both open from where you will have the lesson, and message Mike if you are not sure. No other platform is promised. You can reach Mike at mkcenter007@gmail.com or +84 383 390 963 (Zalo, WhatsApp, Telegram on the same number); use whichever you can open from where you are.

How one-to-one lessons with Mike work from Xi'an

Mike holds the Cambridge CELTA (July 2017) and is based in Hanoi, where he teaches every session himself, live on Google Meet and in English. He has taught English and IELTS for more than 12 years in Vietnam, Turkey and Iran. There is no classroom, centre or group class in Xi'an, and the lessons are not in Mandarin. In his own IELTS, Mike scored 8.5 in Speaking; About Mike has more.

A session can cover Listening, Reading, Writing (Task 1 and Task 2, marked against the public band descriptors) or Speaking (Parts 1, 2 and 3 in the real test format), with feedback during the session rather than days later. Written progress notes appear in your account after each session, and a session can be recorded on request. See IELTS Speaking coaching and IELTS Writing feedback. No band is promised: progress depends on your starting point and the work you do between sessions.

The booking calendar shows every slot in your own time zone, and your price appears in your own currency on the booking page before you pay. A regular session lasts 60 minutes, there is no subscription or package to commit to, and a paid 30-minute trial can be booked once, on your first booking. You can reschedule at no charge up to 12 hours before the slot. Online IELTS tutor for China has the booking steps and how prices are shown.

Searching for IELTS classes in Xi'an?

That search may bring up group classes. This is different: one-to-one coaching online, with no centre or classroom in Xi'an. A class can suit a fixed timetable and classmates; one-to-one lessons follow your own answers and essays but depend on which slots are open in Mike's calendar. Private tutor versus group course compares the two, using Hanoi as its example.

Where you will actually sit the test in Xi'an

Band Booster IELTS is a private tutor, not a test centre. It does not register you for the test or set exam fees and dates, so this page quotes no exam fee or test date, and it has no connection with NEEA (the Ministry of Education's examinations authority), the British Council, IDP or any centre named below. This section was read in October 2026; lists change, so confirm your own centre when you book. For the picture across the country, see IELTS test centres in mainland China.

The registration site lists three Xi'an centres

The IELTS registration site, ielts.neea.cn, is described on the test-day page of chinaielts.org as the 教育部教育考试院雅思报名网站, the IELTS registration site of NEEA. The chinaielts.org home page says IELTS in mainland China is held jointly by the British Council and that authority. The site's list of computer-delivered centres names three in Xi'an, each at a university. Everything in the table is as the English version of the page prints it, with spacing tidied; the third entry's name field repeats its address, so that is what the first cell shows.

Two of the three transit notes mention Line 5: the Northwestern Polytechnical University note says to take Subway Line 5, and the Xi'an Jiaotong University note lists metro line 5 beside six bus numbers. The Shaanxi Normal University note lists thirteen bus lines and no metro. This page does not rank the three centres or say which is closer to you, and it cannot tell you which one you will be given: the venue, address and room for your own tests appear on your personal page and admission card (see "Before you travel" below).

The Chinese version of the list gives the same three centres under these names: 西北工业大学雅思机考考点, 陕西师范大学雅思机考考点 and 西安交通大学雅思机考考点. Its street numbers and transit options match the English entries. The one difference in naming is Xi'an Jiaotong University: the Chinese version gives it a centre name of its own, where the English version repeats the address.

The IELTS UKVI on computer list has matching entries

The registration site keeps a separate list for IELTS UKVI on computer. For Xi'an it carries a matching entry for each of the same three universities, with _UKVI at the end of the name, such as Northwestern Polytechnical University IOC Test Centre_UKVI and Xi’an Jiaotong University IOC Test Centre_UKVI. In that list the Xi'an Jiaotong University entry is named like the others, not by its address. This page cannot say which tests or dates run at which centre, so check with the provider you register through. Our guide to IELTS for UKVI in mainland China covers that version of the test in more detail.

What the ielts.org finder shows for Xi'an

When read in October 2026, the ielts.org test-centre finder, filtered to China, showed five Xi'an results. Three are universities that also appear on the registration-site list, and one is an IDP centre that is not on that list. Xi'an Jiaotong University is listed twice, so its bullet covers two of the five results.

A finder result named Xi'an Jiaotong - Liverpool University has an address in Suzhou, so it is not counted among the five. The IDP centre is not one of the three on the registration site, and IDP and the British Council are separate providers. This page says nothing about IDP China's registration, ID rules, test types or results: check IDP China directly. The One Skill Retake tag refers to the option explained in One Skill Retake or a full retake.

Check which test your organisation asks for

Academic and General Training differ in Reading and Writing, so check which one your university, employer or immigration body asks for before you book (see Academic versus General Training). This page cannot confirm which test types run at each Xi'an centre, so ask the provider as well. The registration-site list used here is the one for IELTS on computer; computer-delivered IELTS in mainland China explains how that format works.

See open slots in your own time zone

Pick a slot on the booking page: times show in your own time zone and your price appears in your own currency before you pay. A paid 30-minute trial can be booked once, on your first booking. In mainland China, check that the booking page and Google Meet both open on your network first.

Common questions

Is there an online IELTS tutor for students in Xi'an?

Yes. Mike, a CELTA-certified teacher in Hanoi, teaches one-to-one on Google Meet, live and in English, and the booking calendar shows each slot in your own time zone. It is online only: there is no classroom or centre in Xi'an and no group class, and the lessons are not in Mandarin. Google services are generally not reachable in mainland China without extra tools, so check that the booking page and Google Meet both open before booking.

Where are the IELTS test centres in Xi'an?

The IELTS registration site, ielts.neea.cn (the site of NEEA, the Ministry of Education's examinations authority), lists three Xi'an centres, all at universities: Northwestern Polytechnical University IOC Test Centre, Shaanxi Normal University IOC Test Centre and Xi'an Jiaotong University, as read in October 2026. ielts.org's finder also shows an IDP centre, IDP IELTS China Xi'an Yanta. Band Booster IELTS does not run the test or register you, so confirm your centre, format, exam fee and date with the provider you book through.

Why does ielts.org's finder list Xi'an Jiaotong University twice?

When read in October 2026, the finder, filtered to China, showed Xi'an Jiaotong University twice, both times at 28 Xianning West Road: once tagged UKVI Approved and once with no extra tag. This page cannot say why, and it does not count them as two sites. Check with the provider you register through, and rely on the venue shown on your own admission card.

Which room and address do I go to on test day?

The ones shown for you personally, not just the centre's listed address. The registration site's notice page says the written-test and Speaking venues and addresses may differ from the centre's. The test-day page on chinaielts.org says your personal page on the registration site shows your candidate number, Speaking time, venues, address and room number, and that you print your admission card from it.

Is this an IELTS class in Xi'an?

No. This is one-to-one coaching online with Mike, not a class and not a centre in Xi'an. A group class can suit you if you want a fixed timetable or classmates, while one-to-one lessons are built around your own answers and essays but depend on which slots are open in Mike's calendar.

How much does an IELTS tutor for Xi'an cost?

Your price is shown in your own currency on the booking page before you pay, and the booking page lists the payment options. A regular session lasts 60 minutes, there is no subscription or package, and a paid 30-minute trial can be booked once, on your first booking.

Can I use Google Meet in Xi'an?

Google services are generally not reachable in mainland China without extra tools, and this page cannot say whether Google Meet opens on your network. Check that the booking page and Google Meet both open before you book, and message Mike first if you are unsure; no other platform is promised.
