The provider facts below come from the British Council Singapore's and IDP Singapore's own pages and from ielts.org, read in October 2026, and they cover tests taken on computer. Providers reword their pages, so confirm anything that matters on the current page before you act on it. TRF means Test Report Form, the document that records your scores.

How long do IELTS results take in Singapore?
For computer-delivered tests the published ranges run from 1 to 5 days, with typical figures of 1 to 2 days or less. They are not promises, so plan around the longer end.
British Council Singapore
The British Council's Singapore results page gives 1 to 5 days for IELTS on Computer, including UKVI on Computer. It gives up to 9 days for IELTS for UKVI Life Skills, a separate test that this page does not otherwise cover; see IELTS Life Skills in Singapore. For how UKVI tests differ from standard IELTS, see IELTS for UKVI in Singapore.
IDP Singapore: three different wordings
IDP's own Singapore pages do not use one figure:
- The page on IELTS on computer says you receive results in 1-5 days, typically within 1 day, and check them on IDP's website. It describes the results as provisional.
- The test dates page says IELTS on Computer offers results typically within 1-2 days.
- The computer page also says your test centre sends the Test Report Form to your postal address 3 to 5 days after your test date. That is the time for sending the form, not for your result, so do not read it as the results time for a computer test.
Because the wording differs inside IDP's own site, treat the figures as a range, not a date you can count on.
ielts.org's worldwide figures
ielts.org's page on fast test results says most IELTS on computer results are now issued in 2 days or less. It adds a worldwide statistic: 80% of scores were available in 2 days or less and about half in 1 day, using data from May and June 2024. That is a global figure from a past period, not a Singapore figure or a promise.
Planning around a deadline
If a university, employer or immigration body has a deadline, count back from the longest published figure for the form you need, not the shortest: 5 days for the result, 8 days for the British Council's eTRF download, 3 to 5 days for IDP to send the form, plus postal time. Then leave extra time for the institution. Our guide to computer-delivered IELTS in Singapore has a longer table of what each source says about timing.
Where you see your result and your Test Report Form
British Council. Results for computer tests are electronic only. You can preview your result in the Test Taker Portal and download the electronic Test Report Form (eTRF) from the portal 1 to 8 days after your test; the British Council says there is no additional paper form.
IDP. You check your result on IDP's website, where it is described as provisional, and the test centre sends your TRF to your postal address 3 to 5 days after the test date.
Sending Test Report Form copies to institutions
The British Council says it can send up to five additional copies of your TRF directly to institutions, at no charge, within two months of the test date. It needs the full postal address of each institution.
- List the institutions that need your result. If the list is longer than five, ask the British Council what it can do beyond the five copies.
- Find each institution's full postal address on its own admissions or HR page.
- Count the two months from your test date and make the request inside that window, through the British Council. Its results page is where the offer is described.
- Ask each institution whether it accepts an electronic copy or a posted one. That is its own decision.
The IDP pages read for this guide do not describe sending copies to institutions, so if you tested with IDP, ask your booking centre what it offers. Most institutions treat an IELTS result as valid for 2 years, but each sets its own policy, so read the policy of the one you are applying to.
Asking for a remark
A remark is a request to have your test marked again. The British Council calls it a re-mark, or Enquiry on Results; IDP's page calls it a remark, also known as an Enquiry on Results. You ask the provider you booked with, not a tutor.
The deadlines
- British Council: the re-mark must be requested no later than six weeks after the test date.
- IDP: the request must be made within six weeks of the date shown on your TRF. Another section of the same page says to submit the form no later than six weeks after the test date.
IDP's page gives the six weeks from the date on the TRF in one place and from the test date in another. If you are unsure which applies to you, count from the test date to be safe and ask your booking centre; do not leave the request to the last week.
How to ask
- British Council: online, from the Test Taker Portal, for computer tests.
- IDP: complete a form and submit it to the booking centre. IDP's remark page says the request can cover the whole test or any part of it. If you booked with the British Council, check its results page for which test sections a re-mark request can cover.
How long it takes, and what to keep in mind
The British Council gives outcomes from the same day up to 21 days. IDP says remark results are available from 2 hours to 21 days, and to contact the centre if no response arrives after 28 days. Each provider's remark page shows its own fee and conditions, so read them first. A remark request does not promise a different score, and it is separate from a retake. If you are weighing a remark against a retake of one skill, where a centre offers it, read IELTS One Skill Retake or a full retake.
A sensible order of steps after test day
- Note your test date and which provider you booked with, because the rules above differ between the British Council and IDP.
- Check your result where your provider publishes it: the Test Taker Portal for the British Council, IDP's website for IDP.
- Compare your four skill scores and your overall band with what your institution asks. The overall band is the average of the four skills rounded to the nearest half band: an average ending in .25 rounds up to the next half band (6.25 becomes 6.5) and one ending in .75 rounds up to the next whole band (6.75 becomes 7.0). The IELTS band score calculator does the arithmetic; IELTS scores for study abroad explains why requirements differ.
- If you will send copies, start inside the two months (British Council) or ask your IDP booking centre what it offers.
- If you think a result needs checking, request a remark inside the six weeks.
- If you decide to retake, plan the practice before you book the next test. Booking is handled by the providers: see IELTS test centres in Singapore, and cancelling or moving an IELTS test in Singapore if your plans change.
What a tutor can and cannot do after a result
Band Booster IELTS is a private online tutor, not a test centre and not the exam board. It does not register candidates, set exam fees or dates, receive results, send Test Report Forms or request remarks, and it cannot change a score.
What it can do is help with preparation. Mike, a CELTA-certified teacher based in Hanoi who scored 8.5 in Speaking in his own IELTS (about Mike), teaches every session one-to-one, live in English on Google Meet. If one skill held your overall band back, a session can focus on it: Listening, Reading, Writing Task 1 and Task 2 marked against the public band descriptors, or Speaking Parts 1, 2 and 3 in the real test format, with feedback during the session and written progress notes in your account afterwards. See IELTS Speaking coaching and IELTS Writing feedback. That feedback is practice feedback: it does not replace a remark and it cannot show how your test was marked. No band is promised, and progress depends on your starting point and the work you do between sessions.
Singapore is in the higher regional price tier, and the booking page shows your price in your own currency before you pay. A paid 30-minute trial can be taken once, on your first booking. The online IELTS tutor page for Singapore explains how booking works, or go straight to the booking page.
