Online only, with no centre in Singapore
Every lesson is online, and Band Booster has no classroom or centre in Singapore. The online IELTS tutor page explains how a session runs and how booking works (its prices are for Vietnam). About Mike covers his background, and private tutor versus group course, written for Hanoi, helps if you are weighing a tutor against a class.
Singapore is one hour ahead of Hanoi, all year
The IANA time zone database puts Singapore at UTC+8 and Vietnam, Hanoi included, at UTC+7, and neither currently uses daylight saving. Singapore Statutes Online also sets Singapore's standard time in law as eight hours ahead of Greenwich mean time. With neither clock shifting, the gap does not change: 19:00 in Hanoi is 20:00 in Singapore.
The calendar on the booking page lists every slot in your own timezone. Mike's calendar decides which slots are open and no particular hours are promised, so if you can study only at fixed times, check it first.
Price: Singapore is in the higher regional tier
Prices differ by region. Singapore is in the higher regional tier, so it pays more than the Vietnam price, and the booking page shows your price in Singapore dollars before you pay. This page quotes no figure. A regular session lasts 60 minutes, and the paid 30-minute trial is available once per student, on the first booking only. No band is guaranteed.
Booking the IELTS test in Singapore: IDP or the British Council
Everything in this section was read on ielts.org and the two providers' Singapore pages in October 2026, so confirm it on their sites before you book. According to those pages, IDP and the British Council both run IELTS in Singapore: see IELTS by IDP Singapore and British Council Singapore. Both list IELTS Academic, General Training, IELTS for UKVI and One Skill Retake. You book the test with one of them, not with Band Booster.
Computer-delivered, with Speaking as an interview
Both providers say that from 28 June 2026 all IELTS tests are delivered on computer; IDP adds that IELTS Life Skills stays on paper. ielts.org announced the move away from paper on 5 March 2026 and says timelines vary by market. Some pages on both sites still carry older paper wording, so confirm the format when you book.
The providers' Singapore pages describe Listening, Reading and Writing as taken on computer, while Speaking stays an interview with an examiner. IDP describes it as face to face; the British Council says some of its Singapore centres hold it by video call at a test centre, with the same content and scoring as in person.
IELTS Online: not confirmed on the Singapore provider pages
ielts.org's ways to take IELTS page says IELTS Online, offered in some countries for IELTS Academic only, is taken at home or another suitable private location, with Speaking by online video call with an examiner. Organisations decide whether to accept online results, and tests for UK visas must be taken at a test centre. The Singapore provider pages read for this page describe test-centre options and do not confirm IELTS Online there, so ask IDP or the British Council, and check that your university or other organisation accepts it.
One Skill Retake, as IDP Singapore describes it
You can retake a single skill if you are eligible. IDP Singapore's One Skill Retake page says it lets you retake one of Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking within 60 days of a full IELTS on computer test at an eligible test centre. Fees and booking are set by the provider.
Four things to confirm with the provider when you book
- the test format offered on your date, since some pages still carry older paper wording;
- how Speaking is held at your test centre: IDP describes it as face to face, and the British Council says some of its Singapore centres use a video call;
- whether IELTS Online is offered in Singapore, and whether your organisation accepts it;
- whether you are eligible for One Skill Retake.
