IELTS Test Centres in Singapore: IDP and British Council Venues, Hours and Test Types

Last updated:

IDP's own Singapore finder lists two IELTS test centres, at 1 Raffles Place and 37 Middle Road, and the British Council names a Napier Road centre and, as listed, a Lifelong Learning Institute venue. Band Booster IELTS is a private online tutor, not a test centre: Mike (CELTA, 8.5 in Speaking) coaches one-to-one from Hanoi, and you book the test with IDP or the British Council.

Price: SGD 73.93 for a 60-minute one-to-one lesson; SGD 17.25 for the paid 30-minute trial. Amounts use the same price tiers as the booking page, in your local currency at exchange rates set on 6 October 2026. The booking page shows the exact amount before you pay, and PayPal charges the US-dollar equivalent (USD 57.76 for a 60-minute lesson).

IDP's own Singapore finder lists two IELTS test centres, at 1 Raffles Place and 37 Middle Road, and the British Council's pages name a centre at Napier Road and, as listed, a second venue at the Lifelong Learning Institute on Eunos Road 8. This page sets out each venue's address, the hours its page gives and the test types it lists, as read on 24 October 2026. Band Booster IELTS is a private tutor, not a test centre: Mike, a CELTA-certified teacher in Hanoi who scored 8.5 in IELTS Speaking, coaches one-to-one on Google Meet, and your own price appears on the booking page before you pay.

Everything about venues on this page was read on the providers' own Singapore pages and on ielts.org's test-centre finder on 24 October 2026. Venue lists, opening hours and test types change, and the pages do not always agree with one another, so confirm the venue, date and format in your booking confirmation. This page quotes no exam fee and no test date.

IELTS test centres in Singapore at a glance

IDP's own Singapore test-centre finder lists two centres. The British Council's pages name a Napier Road centre and list the Lifelong Learning Institute as a second location for IELTS on Computer. The table gives each venue's name as its provider writes it.

Venue (name as the provider writes it)ProviderAddress
IDP IELTS Test Centre - SingaporeIDP1 Raffles Place (Mall), #05-07, Singapore 048616
United Lisen Education Centre | SingaporeIDP37 Middle Road, Uweei Building, #01-00, #05-00, Singapore 188946
Napier Road Centre (Examinations)British Council30 Napier Road, 258509
Lifelong Learning Institute (as listed)British Council11 Eunos Road 8, Singapore 408601

For short, this page calls IDP's centre at 1 Raffles Place "One Raffles Place", after the location in IDP's own page address. The Lifelong Learning Institute row rests on a table on the British Council's "Prepare to Succeed with IELTS" page and on ielts.org's finder, not on a dedicated venue page, so confirm it when you book.

IDP's two Singapore centres

IDP IELTS Test Centre - Singapore, at One Raffles Place

IDP's page for this centre gives regular opening hours of Monday to Friday 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM and Saturday 9.30 AM to 1.00 PM, with Sunday closed. It is also the place IDP names for booking in person: its test dates page says you can book online or visit IDP Singapore @ One Raffles Place (Mall) to book offline. The test types listed for this centre are in the table further down.

United Lisen Education Centre | Singapore

IDP's page for this centre gives the address as 37 Middle Road, Uweei Building, #01-00, #05-00, Singapore 188946. It gives the regular opening hours only as "As per schedule", so no fixed weekly hours are published there. ielts.org's finder prints the building as Boon Sing Building, where IDP's page says Uweei Building, so check the address and building in your booking confirmation before you travel.

The British Council's Singapore venues

Napier Road Centre (Examinations)

According to the British Council's Napier Road page, the centre is a 5-minute walk from Napier (TE12) MRT Station on the Thomson-East Coast Line. It has no parking of its own, and the page names the nearest car parks.

The hours on that page belong to the dedicated Exams Customer Services team at Napier Road, which the page says serves exams-related enquiries, in-person registration and exam certificate collection. Its operating hours are Monday to Friday 10.00 to 18.00 and Saturday 08.30 to 16.30, and it is closed on Sundays and public holidays. These are service hours, not test hours. The page also lists the year's public-holiday closures, so check it before you go in person.

Lifelong Learning Institute (as listed)

The British Council's "Prepare to Succeed with IELTS" page has a table of test format, location and nearest MRT station. Under IELTS on Computer it lists two locations: the Napier Road Centre and the Lifelong Learning Institute, 11 Eunos Road 8, Singapore 408601, a 5-minute walk from Paya Lebar MRT (East West and Circle lines). ielts.org's finder agrees on the place: it carries two British Council entries for Lifelong Learning Institute, at Level 2, 11 Eunos Road 8 (Paya Lebar central), both listing computer-delivered tests. Because the first source is a general IELTS page rather than a dedicated venue page, confirm that your own test is held there when you book.

Opening hours are not test times

The hours above are regular opening hours for IDP and the Exams Customer Services team's operating hours for the British Council. They do not say when tests run. The British Council's dates, fees and locations page says it offers IELTS tests with up to 31 test dates per month, with morning sessions usually between 9.00 am and 12.00 pm and afternoon sessions usually between 1.00 pm and 4.00 pm. "Up to" and "usually" are that page's own hedges, so the time and place of your own test come from your booking confirmation, not from these ranges.

What ielts.org's test-centre finder shows

ielts.org's finder for Singapore shows 9 results, covering four physical sites: four entries at 30 Napier Road, two at One Raffles Place (one of them labelled LifeSkills), two at the Lifelong Learning Institute and one at United Lisen. Nine listings are not nine venues. One of the Napier Road entries, a British Council Singapore Limited entry at 30 Napier Road (Level 3), is tagged UKVI Approved. This page counts venues by address and does not add a venue for an extra entry.

Which test types each venue lists

If you need a particular version of the test, check the venue's own listing before you book. Whether you need Academic or General Training is decided by the organisation that asks for your result: see Academic versus General Training. The UKVI and Life Skills versions have their own pages: IELTS for UKVI in Singapore and IELTS Life Skills in Singapore. This page gives no visa advice.

VenueTest types its listing shows
IDP, One Raffles PlaceIELTS Academic, IELTS General Training, Academic for UKVI, General Training for UKVI, Life Skills A1 and Life Skills B1 (from IDP's centre page).
IDP, United LisenIELTS Academic and IELTS General Training only. Its page shows no UKVI test and no Life Skills.
British Council, Napier RoadThe Napier Road venue page does not itemise test types. ielts.org tags a British Council Singapore Limited entry at this address (Level 3) UKVI Approved. Confirm the version you need at booking.
British Council, Lifelong Learning InstituteListed as a location for IELTS on Computer on the British Council's "Prepare to Succeed with IELTS" page. Confirm any other version at booking.

Of IDP's two centres, United Lisen shows only the two standard tests, while the One Raffles Place page also shows UKVI and Life Skills.

IDP's notice: no IELTS on Paper in Singapore from 28 June 2026, except Life Skills

A notice on IDP's Singapore test dates page says that from 28 June 2026 the British Council and IDP will no longer offer IELTS on Paper in Singapore, except for IELTS Life Skills, which stays available on paper. Some tabs and descriptions on IDP's pages may still carry older paper wording, so follow the notice and confirm the format when you book. Computer-delivered IELTS in Singapore covers what changes on the day.

Booking: online or in person

IDP says you can book your IELTS test online or visit IDP Singapore @ One Raffles Place (Mall) to book it in person. To complete the booking you need to upload a clear colour scan or photo of your passport, so have it ready. The identity rules for the test day itself are covered in IELTS ID and test-day rules in Singapore.

The British Council's Napier Road page says its Exams Customer Services team handles in-person registration, along with exams-related enquiries and exam certificate collection. For its other booking steps, use the British Council's own Singapore booking page. Moving or cancelling a test is covered in cancelling or moving an IELTS test in Singapore, and what happens after the test in IELTS results, Test Report Form copies and remarks in Singapore.

A short checklist before you choose a venue

IDP's Simplified Chinese finder page

IDP also publishes a Simplified Chinese version of its Singapore test-centre finder. The Chinese page lists the same two centres, written as IDP雅思考点—新加坡 at 1 Raffles Place (Mall), #05-07, Singapore 048616 and United Lisen Education Centre at 37 Middle Road, and labels both as supporting One Skill Retake (支援单科重考). Our guide to One Skill Retake or a full retake explains that option. This page is also available in Chinese: 新加坡雅思考点.

Where Band Booster IELTS fits

Band Booster IELTS is a private tutoring service, not a test centre or the exam board. It does not register candidates or set exam fees or dates, and it has no affiliation with IDP or the British Council: you book the test with one of them. What it offers is one-to-one online preparation. Mike, a Cambridge CELTA-certified teacher based in Hanoi who scored 8.5 in IELTS Speaking, teaches every session himself, live in English on Google Meet.

A session can cover Listening, Reading, Writing (Task 1 and Task 2, marked against the public band descriptors) or Speaking (Parts 1, 2 and 3), with feedback during the session. See the online IELTS tutor page for Singapore for how booking works, IELTS Speaking coaching for a typical Speaking session and About Mike for his background. The booking page shows each slot in your own time and your price in your own currency before you pay. No band score is promised: progress depends on your starting point and the work you do between sessions.
