Two organisations run IELTS in Da Nang
In Vietnam you book IELTS with IDP Vietnam or British Council Vietnam. Each runs its own booking system and its own list of venues, and a venue is attached to the session you pick. So you choose a provider first, then a session in its system.
Band Booster IELTS sits outside this process. We are a private online tutoring service: we do not register candidates or hold places. This page gives no fees and no test dates, because the providers set them and they change. Everything below is what the providers' pages and ielts.org showed when we read them on 21 October 2026.
Da Nang venues, as each provider listed them on 21 October 2026
| Provider | How the provider lists the venue | Address as listed |
|---|---|---|
| IDP Vietnam | “IDP Ngô Gia Tự, Hải Châu, Đà Nẵng”, an IDP office, with the label “Hỗ trợ thi lại một kỹ năng” | 10 Ngô Gia Tự, Hải Châu ward |
| British Council Vietnam | The one venue under the heading “Thành phố Đà Nẵng” | 163 Xô Viết Nghệ Tĩnh, Cẩm Lệ ward |
On IDP Vietnam's nationwide venue list, the office at 10 Ngô Gia Tự was the only entry with a Da Nang address, and IDP's test location article gives the same address for its Da Nang office. On British Council Vietnam's venue list, one venue appeared under the Da Nang heading. We give the British Council venue by its address only, as we do not name the companies that run partner venues. Both lists can change, so treat the table as a snapshot.
IDP Vietnam in Da Nang
Every session we read on IDP's Da Nang session page named the same venue, “IDP IELTS Vietnam Da Nang (IELTS on Computer)”, and showed the line “One Skill Retake available”. Some sessions said “Writing on paper” and the rest “Writing on computer”, and a few were IELTS for UKVI.
IDP's 2026 schedule table lists Da Nang's computer test days as “Thứ 3, 5, 7, CN hàng tuần” (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday each week) in the October, November and December columns; the April to September columns showed “Thứ 3, 4, 6, 7, CN hàng tuần”. IDP notes that all computer test days include Academic and General Training. IDP's Da Nang centre page, by contrast, speaks of “a flexible daily schedule”, so rely on the session list for what you can actually book.
British Council in Da Nang
The ielts.org record for the British Council venue at 163 Xo Viet Nghe Tinh St., Cam Le Ward lists an Academic Test and a General Training Test, both marked “Computer”; it showed no Writing on Paper or UKVI entry. British Council's dates and locations page has a Da Nang table, but when we read it the table's last month was April 2026, so it is not a guide to current sessions. Current sessions are on the British Council booking portal, which we could not open from our tools, so we cannot say which formats or labels the Da Nang sessions show. British Council also takes bookings through authorised registration partners; we name none of them.
What ielts.org shows
The ielts.org test-centre finder for Vietnam and Da Nang listed three records when we read it on 22 October 2026, but only two addresses: the British Council venue at 163 Xo Viet Nghe Tinh St., Cam Le Ward appears twice, as one record and another. Both list Academic and General Training on computer only; one also carries the One Skill Retake label. The third record is IDP IELTS Vietnam Da Nang (IELTS on Computer) at 10 Ngo Gia Tu Street, Hai Chau Ward, labelled Computer, Computer (Writing on Paper), UKVI Approved and One Skill Retake. The addresses match the providers' own lists. Three records are not three venues.
The One Skill Retake label
For Da Nang, IDP's two sources agreed on the day we read them: the venue list showed the label “Hỗ trợ thi lại một kỹ năng” (supports retaking one skill) under the IDP office, and each session we read showed “One Skill Retake available”. IDP's One Skill Retake page sets the conditions: you must have completed the full test on computer at a test centre that offers One Skill Retake, register within 60 days, and retake only once per test. A retake at a different centre must be with the same provider.
British Council Vietnam says One Skill Retake is available with it for IELTS on Computer and IELTS for UKVI on Computer, and that you must have received your results from a test centre that offers it. We could not check whether its Da Nang venue does, and ielts.org's own advice is to check with your test centre. Ask before you book the full test if a retake might matter. See also IELTS One Skill Retake or full retake.
Paper, computer and the Speaking test
- Paper. IDP's Writing on Paper page says IDP Vietnam has stopped paper-based IELTS and offers IELTS on computer or IELTS on computer with Writing on Paper, which it says began in October at three places: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. It does not apply to IELTS for UKVI. IDP's schedule page still says you can choose paper or computer, so IDP's pages do not agree; ask IDP if paper matters to you.
- British Council formats. British Council Vietnam's page on ways to take IELTS lists IELTS on computer and IELTS on computer with Writing on Paper, in a test centre.
- Speaking at IDP. IDP's Da Nang session page says Speaking is in person with an examiner at the IDP Da Nang location. Its centre page says you can complete all four skills in one day, but the same page notes that Speaking can be before or after the other three skills, depending on the centre's schedule. IDP's schedule page says that only at IDP can you choose your Speaking date.
- Speaking at the British Council. British Council Vietnam says you can choose your Speaking slot and its format, face to face or by video call, and that with IELTS on Computer Speaking may be on the same day or within seven days before or after your main test date. The pages we read do not say which format its Da Nang venue uses. This differs from IDP's “only at IDP” wording, so check the session you book.
- Times. British Council says its tests in Vietnam run in the morning (9:00 to 12:00) or afternoon (14:00 to 17:00).
Section-by-section format and ID rules are covered in Computer-delivered IELTS in Hanoi: what changes.
Near Da Nang: Huế and Quảng Ngãi
If a Da Nang session does not suit you, IDP's venue list also had one entry in Huế (Thuận Hóa ward) and one in Quảng Ngãi (Nghĩa Lộ ward), and British Council's list had one venue in Huế (Thuận Hóa ward).
Choosing a venue: what to check
- The address and your journey. The IDP office is in Hải Châu ward and the British Council venue in Cẩm Lệ ward. Check how long the trip takes at the time of day your session starts.
- The format. Fully on computer, Writing on Paper, or IELTS for UKVI if your visa needs it. If you are unsure which test you need, see IELTS Academic vs General Training.
- Speaking. Read the Speaking day and format in your confirmation.
- One Skill Retake. If you might need it, ask before you pay.
Where online coaching with Mike fits
Band Booster IELTS is not a test provider or a test venue, and there is no Band Booster centre in Da Nang. Mike, who is Cambridge CELTA-certified and based in Hanoi, teaches every session himself, live on Google Meet in English; his own IELTS result is 7.5 overall and 8.5 in Speaking. In Vietnam a 60-minute lesson costs 500,000 ₫ and the paid 30-minute trial costs 150,000 ₫, once per student. The booking calendar shows each time in your own time zone (Hanoi is UTC+7, with no daylight saving), and payment options are shown on the booking page.
Online lessons do not suit everyone: if you want fixed class hours or classmates, a class near home may fit better; our page on a private IELTS tutor versus a centre course sets out the trade-offs. You can also read about the online IELTS tutor service for Da Nang or about Mike. A Vietnamese version of this page is available.
