Who runs IELTS in Hue?
Two providers take IELTS bookings that point to Hue: IDP Vietnam and British Council Vietnam. Each books its own sessions: IDP's Huế page lists sessions on IDP's site, each card naming its venue, and British Council sends you to its own booking portal. So you choose a provider first, then a session.

We give the addresses but do not repeat the names of the centres that host the tests; the provider pages show them.
IDP in Hue: one venue on its list
IDP's venue list has one Huế entry, at 5A Phong Châu, Thuận Hóa ward. IDP's test location article (byline-dated 26/05/2023) lists the same address under the heading Huế and describes the place as a centre. IDP's test day page also prints a list of its direct registration offices: they are in Hà Nội, Đà Nẵng, TP.HCM, Cần Thơ and Nha Trang, and none is in Huế. IDP's venue list gives its hotline, 19006955, for help with registering.
What IDP's Huế session list showed
- Day and time. Each of the 30 cards displayed was a Sunday session starting at 01:00 PM. We did not press “Load more”, so later sessions may differ.
- Format. Each card said “IELTS trên máy tính” (IELTS on computer) and “Writing on computer”. The format filter offered only “All test formats” and computer delivery.
- Test types. The cards covered both IELTS Academic and General Training. The page's filter lists UKVI test types, but none of the 30 cards displayed was a UKVI session, so ask IDP if you need IELTS for UKVI.
- Labels. Each card said “One Skill Retake available” and “Results in 1 to 5 days”.
British Council in Hue
When we read it, the Hue table on British Council's dates page ended at April 2026 and sent you to the booking portal for the detailed schedule of each test venue. The portal only shows sessions after you pick Hue, so open it yourself and filter for Hue to see British Council's Hue sessions, times and formats.
ielts.org's finder lists British Council in Hue as two records at one address, 272 Dien Bien Phu Street, Thuan Hoa Ward. Read them as one place, not two venues. One of the two records carries a One Skill Retake tag and the other does not.
One Skill Retake in Hue: the labels do not agree, so ask
- On IDP's venue list, the Huế entry has no retake label, while some other entries, such as IDP's Đà Nẵng office, do.
- On IDP's Huế session page, each of the 30 cards displayed said “One Skill Retake available”.
- On ielts.org, the IDP record for Hue carries the tag, and one of the two British Council records does.
IDP's One Skill Retake page says you must have taken the full test on computer at a centre that offers the retake, and that a retake at another centre must be run by the same organiser: an IDP test needs an IDP centre. British Council's page says you must have received your results from a centre that offers the retake, sit it within 60 days of the full test, and retake one skill once per original test. ielts.org tells you to check with your test centre. Computer test days, paper and Speaking
- Test days. IDP's 2026 schedule table lists Hà Nội as “7 ngày/ tuần” (seven days a week) in every month column from April to December. The Huế row is blank for April to August and gives specific dates from September to December. A note under the table says IDP's computer test days include both Academic and General Training.
- Paper. IDP says IDP IELTS Vietnam has stopped running IELTS on paper. Its Writing on Paper option (computer test, Writing by hand) applies from October at three places: Hà Nội, TP.HCM and Đà Nẵng. Huế is not among them. British Council lists IELTS on computer and IELTS on computer with Writing on Paper at a test centre (see its ways to take IELTS page), but the pages we read do not say where Writing on Paper is held. All three ielts.org records for Hue show “Computer” only.
- Speaking format. IDP's computer-delivered IELTS article (updated 18/09/2026) lists face-to-face Speaking at IDP and partner centres in inner Hà Nội, three TP.HCM sites and IDP's Đà Nẵng centre, and video-call Speaking at two TP.HCM sites and at partner venues in provinces outside Hà Nội and Đà Nẵng. Huế is not in the face-to-face list, so IDP's pages point to video-call Speaking at its Huế venue, although that passage does not name Huế. IDP says the format, time and place are in your booking confirmation email.
- Speaking day. IDP's article and Writing on Paper page say Speaking is usually in the other session on the same day, and at some IDP sites may be the day before. IDP's page for its Huế venue says it may fall before or after the other three skills, depending on the centre's schedule, and the ielts.org Guide for Test Takers says it may be on the same day or up to a week before or after. IDP's article says you can choose a suitable Speaking date, but the booking link on each of the 30 Huế session cards we read sets it to the test date, so we saw no separate Speaking day. British Council says you can choose your Speaking slot and format, face to face or by video call.

Choosing a venue in Hue: what to check
- Provider and address. Hue's IDP venue is at 5A Phong Châu; British Council's records on ielts.org point to 272 Dien Bien Phu Street. Rules differ between the two providers, including for retakes.
- Format and test type. If you want to handwrite Writing, IDP lists only Hà Nội, TP.HCM and Đà Nẵng for that option. If you need UKVI, ask before you plan around Hue.
- Dates. IDP's Huế page suggests that if your area is fully booked you can look at neighbouring provinces or other centres. Đà Nẵng has an IDP office on IDP's venue list; see IELTS test venues in Da Nang or Hanoi.
Where online coaching with Mike fits
Band Booster IELTS has no centre in Hue. Lessons are online only, taught from Hanoi, one-to-one and live on Google Meet. Mike holds the Cambridge CELTA, is based in Hanoi and teaches every session himself, in English. His own IELTS result is 7.5 overall with 8.5 in Speaking.
