This page sets out what IDP's pages, ielts.org and the UK Home Office's list of approved test centres show for IELTS venues in Johor Bahru and the rest of Johor, as read on 24 October 2026. Provider pages change, so confirm the venue, the test type and the date on the provider's page and in your booking confirmation. Band Booster IELTS is a private tutoring service, not a test centre: it does not register candidates or set exam fees, and this page quotes no exam fee or test date.
Johor venues at a glance
Three venues turn up for Johor: two in Johor Bahru city and one in Kluang, a different town in the same state. Each row gives the address in the wording of the source named in the second column.
| Venue | Listed by | Address, as that source gives it | What the sources show |
|---|---|---|---|
| IDP Johor Bahru | IDP's centre page; ielts.org; the Home Office list | 38-02, Jalan Austin Heights 3/2, Taman Austin, 81100 Johor Bahru, Johor (IDP's wording) | Session cards for IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training, labelled Writing on computer (first batch on IDP's dates page); UKVI listed by ielts.org and the Home Office |
| Peoplelogy | ielts.org, as a British Council venue | Suite 1, Level 4, Menara Komtar, JB City Centre Johor Bahru 80000 | Three ielts.org records at this address, all on computer: General Training only; Academic and General Training; Academic only |
| IDP Kluang | IDP's centre page | Sinaro Academy, No 6, Tingkat 2, Jalan Haji Manan, Pusat Perniagaan Komersil Haji Manan, 86000 Kluang Johor | No sessions on IDP's Kluang dates page when read on 24 October 2026 |
IDP Johor Bahru
IDP's Johor Bahru centre page is the starting point for this venue, and its dates page is where the sessions are listed. ielts.org has its own page for the same venue.
The address: three pages, three wordings
All three sources give the street as Jalan Austin Heights 3/2 (ielts.org writes Jln), but they do not word the address alike:
| Source | Address wording |
|---|---|
| IDP's centre page | 38-02, Jalan Austin Heights 3/2, Taman Austin, 81100 Johor Bahru, Johor |
| ielts.org's venue page | 38-01 & 38 02 Jln Austin Heights 3/2 Taman Mount Austin |
| The Home Office list (file dated 9 October 2026) | 38-02, Jalan Austin Heights 3/2, Taman Mount Austin, 81100 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia |
IDP writes the neighbourhood as Taman Austin, while ielts.org and the Home Office write Taman Mount Austin, and ielts.org gives the unit as 38-01 & 38 02 where IDP and the Home Office give 38-02. ielts.org's contact number for the venue also differs from the phone number on IDP's own centre page. This page cannot say which wording or number is current, so rely on the address printed on your booking confirmation and ask IDP if it differs from what you searched for.
Opening hours are not test times
IDP's centre page gives the centre's regular opening hours as Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm. Those are the hours the centre is open, not test times. Plan your day from the date and time on your confirmation.
What the session list showed
On IDP's Johor Bahru dates page, read on 24 October 2026, the first batch of session cards that loads is named IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training, each with a "Writing on computer" label. Only the first batch loads when the page opens, so this page describes that batch and nothing beyond it: it cannot tell you which test types or formats the later sessions carry. Open the dates page yourself for the dates you want.
IELTS for UKVI at Johor Bahru
IELTS for UKVI is the version of the test linked to UK Visas and Immigration. Whether you need it depends on your own application, which this page cannot advise on. Three sources point to UKVI tests at this venue, and none of them tells you which UKVI sessions are open on your dates:
- IDP's Johor Bahru dates page lists "Academic for UKVI" and "General Training for UKVI" among its test-type filters.
- ielts.org's page for the venue lists four tests, including IELTS UKVI Academic on computer.
- The Home Office list of approved test centres outside the UK, in the file dated 9 October 2026, includes IDP Johor Bahru under the IELTS SELT Consortium and lists no other IELTS UKVI centre in Johor.
A filter, a centre profile and an approval list show that UKVI tests are connected with this venue; they do not show what is open on your dates. Ask IDP to confirm a UKVI session for your dates before you plan around it, and check the current Home Office list; the file read here is dated 9 October 2026. For what the UK rules say about where the test must be taken, see IELTS for UKVI in Malaysia.
Peoplelogy, Menara Komtar: the British Council venue ielts.org lists
ielts.org carries three records for a British Council venue in Johor Bahru called Peoplelogy. All three are titled "British Council, Peoplelogy" and give the same address, Suite 1, Level 4, Menara Komtar, JB City Centre Johor Bahru 80000, but they list different tests. As read on 24 October 2026:
- The first record lists the General Training Test only, on computer.
- The second record lists the Academic Test and the General Training Test, on computer.
- The third record lists the Academic Test only, on computer.
This page cannot say why ielts.org holds three records for one address. Three points follow from them:
- The records disagree. Do not read any single ielts.org record as the venue's whole offer. Ask the British Council which test type and date you are booking, and match the venue on your confirmation. Academic and General Training are different tests, and the organisation receiving your score decides which one you need.
- No record lists a UKVI test, and none is an IELTS UKVI row on the Home Office list. The only IELTS UKVI row that list has in Johor is IDP Johor Bahru.
- Booking and sitting are separate questions. British Council Malaysia says you can book online or at its offices in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, while ielts.org lists British Council test venues in other towns too, Johor Bahru among them. Check the test venue on your confirmation instead of assuming it is where you booked.
This section rests on ielts.org's three records alone, so confirm the test type and dates on British Council Malaysia's booking page before you commit.
IDP Kluang: the other Johor centre on IDP's list
Kluang is a town in Johor, separate from Johor Bahru city. IDP's Kluang centre page gives the address as Sinaro Academy, No 6, Tingkat 2, Jalan Haji Manan, Pusat Perniagaan Komersil Haji Manan, 86000 Kluang Johor.
When read on 24 October 2026, IDP's Kluang dates page showed no sessions: it displayed a message saying nothing matched the filters and suggesting a broader search. That is a snapshot, not a rule. Session lists change over time, and this page cannot say when Kluang will have sessions or why none showed that day. Look at the dates page again when you are ready to book, and if you need a date sooner, check the sessions listed for another IDP centre.
A venue name is not an address: the Melaka venue that says Johor Bahru
ielts.org's Melaka venue page carries the name IDP IELTS Malaysia - Melaka International School Johor Bahru. The name contains "Johor Bahru", but the address on the page is in Melaka (Taman Siantan, Melaka 75200), so this is not a Johor Bahru venue. We cannot say why the name reads that way. For any booking, read the address rather than the name, and match it to your confirmation.
Computer or paper, and how Speaking is held
The Johor Bahru listings that name a format name computer: IDP's session cards say "Writing on computer", ielts.org lists IELTS UKVI Academic on computer for the IDP venue, and its three Peoplelogy records list every test as delivered on computer. Beyond that, the providers' Malaysian pages are not consistent about whether paper is still offered in Malaysia, or about whether Speaking is face to face or a video call at a test centre. Computer-delivered IELTS in Malaysia sets out what each provider's pages say. Ask the provider about both when you book.
Before you book a Johor venue: what to check
- Test type. Academic, General Training or UKVI. The organisation receiving your score decides; Peoplelogy has three ielts.org records with different test types.
- Provider and venue. Match the venue name and address on your confirmation to the table above. When sources disagree, trust the confirmation from the provider you book with.
- UKVI. Ask IDP to confirm a UKVI session for your dates; do not rely on a filter or a list.
- Dates. Look at the live dates page. Kluang showed none on 24 October 2026.
- Format. Confirm computer or paper, and how Speaking will be held.
- Test day. See IELTS test day in Malaysia for ID and what to bring, and the guide to IELTS test centres across Malaysia for the other states.
Online lessons with Mike for students in Johor
Band Booster IELTS has no centre or classroom in Johor. Lessons are online only, one-to-one on Google Meet, in English. Mike holds the Cambridge CELTA, teaches from Hanoi, teaches every lesson himself, and scored 8.5 in IELTS Speaking. About Mike has his background.
The Malaysia tutoring page, which names Johor Bahru among the places lessons are available, explains how lessons, payment and rescheduling work anywhere in Malaysia. There are also pages for Kuala Lumpur and Penang, and one on IELTS Speaking tutoring for Malaysia.
- A regular lesson is 60 minutes. A paid 30-minute trial can be taken once, on your first booking.
- Malaysia is one hour ahead of Hanoi all year, so 8 pm in Johor Bahru is 7 pm in Hanoi. The booking calendar shows every slot in your own time.
- The booking page shows your price in your own currency before you pay. There is no subscription and no package.
- You can reschedule at no charge up to 12 hours before a slot; a cancellation inside 12 hours is not refunded.
- Sessions can cover Listening, Reading, Writing (Task 1 and Task 2, marked against the public band descriptors) or Speaking (Parts 1, 2 and 3). No band score is promised.
- Between lessons, the Speaking Part 2 timer lets you practise the long turn on your own.
If you are weighing a tutor against a class, how to choose an online IELTS tutor lists questions to ask. See open times in your own time zone.
