What "intensive" means here
There is no fixed course or programme to sign up for at Band Booster IELTS, and no minimum number of sessions to commit to. Every session is booked individually, so if your test date is close, you can book two or three sessions in the same week instead of spreading them out over a term - as long as slots are open on the calendar. This suits students who found out their test date late, or who want to fix specific weaknesses just before sitting the exam rather than starting a long-term plan.
This is not a substitute for a longer run-up if you have the time for one; regular 1:1 IELTS tutoring spread over several weeks is also an option, and the choice is yours. The point of booking intensively is flexibility: you set the pace, and there is no course to opt out of if your plans change.
How much difference an intensive week makes
How many sessions or weeks it takes to move up a band depends on where you are starting from, which skill is weakest, and how much you practise between sessions, not on a fixed formula, so Band Booster IELTS does not promise a specific band or timeline. If any provider does offer a guarantee, ask what conditions apply and get them in writing.
Getting the most out of a short window
If your test is close, a few practical habits make each session count for more:
- Start with your weakest skill. If Writing Task 2 structure is shaky, or your Speaking Part 2 answers run out of things to say, spend your first session or two there rather than on skills you are already comfortable with.
- Space sessions a day or two apart where you can. That gives you time to redo a task, read the written progress notes from the last session, and come back with questions, rather than repeating the same feedback twice.
- Bring something specific. A pre-written Task 1 or Task 2 essay, a recording of yourself answering a Speaking Part 2 cue card, or a list of vocabulary you keep getting wrong all give a 60-minute session a clear focus instead of starting from a blank page.
- Use the trial to check fit, not to save time. The 30-minute trial (one per student, on your first booking) is a useful way to see how Mike gives feedback before booking a block.
What a session covers
Sessions are one-to-one over Google Meet with Mike, who holds a Cambridge CELTA (July 2017) and has taught English and IELTS for 12+ years across Vietnam, Turkey and Iran. Feedback is given in the moment, not written up days later, and every session leaves you with progress notes in your account, plus a recording on request. Depending on what you need before your test date, a session can focus on:
- Listening - working through the four-part, 40-question format and where marks tend to be lost.
- Reading - the 60-minute, 40-question paper and timing strategy across three sections.
- Writing - Task 1 (describing a graph, chart, table or diagram for Academic, or writing a letter for General Training) and Task 2 (discussing a point of view, argument or problem), marked against the public band descriptors.
- Speaking - Parts 1, 2 and 3 run in the real test format, with feedback straight after.
General English - conversation, pronunciation, job interviews, presentations, work email - is also available, at 450,000 ₫ per hour, separate from IELTS coaching.
Booking several sessions at once
Because there is no course to buy into, booking a block is simply a discount on standalone sessions, not a different product. A 60-minute regular coaching session is 500,000 ₫ in Vietnam; book 6 or more sessions in a single order and the price drops 10% per session (450,000 ₫ each) - available once per student, on their first qualifying order only; every order after that is full price, and there's no discount for fewer than 6 sessions. Students outside Vietnam see prices in their own currency automatically at checkout.
| Booking | Price |
|---|---|
| Single session (60 minutes) | 500,000 ₫ |
| 2-5 sessions | 500,000 ₫ each (no discount) |
| 6 or more sessions (10% off, once per student, first qualifying order only) | 450,000 ₫ each |
| 30-minute trial (first booking only) | 150,000 ₫ |
The booking page shows the price for your region before you pay. Full pricing details, including General English, are also on the pricing section of the homepage.
Payment and what happens after
Pay by PayPal (cards can be used through PayPal guest checkout where PayPal offers it for your country and payment), bank transfer in Vietnam via VietQR, or USDT (TRC20 or BEP20). The site never sees or stores your card details, and you get a receipt from the payment provider as well as from the site itself. As soon as payment goes through, a Google Meet link and calendar invite land in your inbox, along with a link to set up an account where your session history, receipts and progress notes are kept.
If your test date moves or a slot no longer suits you, sessions can be rescheduled free up to 12 hours beforehand; cancellations inside that window are not refunded. There is no subscription and nothing to cancel out of later.
If you are not in Hanoi, or prefer to spread sessions out
Sessions run over Google Meet, so being in Hanoi is not a requirement to book - see the online IELTS tutor page for how that works if you are studying from elsewhere. And if your test date is a month or two out rather than a week, there is no need to compress everything; the same one-to-one format also works booked one session at a time. More on Mike's background and teaching history is on the about page.
Vietnamese speakers can find the same information on the Vietnamese version of this page.
