Official sources name IELTS locations in Romania, and they do not agree. Below the IDP page and the ielts.org directory are set side by side, so you can see which city comes from which list before you open the provider's page to book. Centres and test types change, so treat the provider's page as the final word. The British Council also runs IELTS in Romania: check its dates, fees and locations page for its current cities and for IELTS Online.
The lists
- IDP IELTS Romania. Its test dates page shows 14 test centres in Arad, Bacău, Brașov, Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Constanța, Mangalia, Craiova, Galați, Iași, Sibiu and Timișoara. Some cities have more than one entry.
- ielts.org. The joint test centre directory returns 15 results: physical centres in seven cities plus two IELTS Online entries. Some centres appear twice, so the row count is not a count of different centres.

Where a city is missing from one list, the pages do not say why. The practical answer is to search for dates on the provider's booking page for your city.
Formats and test types
- Computer or paper. ielts.org labels every physical Romanian centre as computer and shows no paper label. IDP's page says you can choose computer or paper at the centre closest to you but does not say which centre offers which. Confirm the format on the booking page for your date.
- IELTS Online. ielts.org shows two IELTS Online entries. Check the provider's page for the test types it covers, and check that the institution you apply to accepts it.
- UKVI. ielts.org marks one British Council centre in Bucharest as UKVI Approved. IDP's page shows no UKVI label on its centres. See IELTS for UKVI in Romania.
- One Skill Retake. Both the IDP page and ielts.org show this label on the physical centres. See the One Skill Retake page.
Speaking day
The day and order of the Speaking test depend on the provider and format, so check the booking page for your date. More in IELTS on computer in Romania.

How lessons with Mike can help
Mike does not run a test centre and does not register candidates. He teaches IELTS and General English one-to-one, live on Google Meet, in English. He marks Writing Task 1 and Task 2 against the public band descriptors, runs Speaking Parts 1 to 3 in the real format with feedback in the moment, and leaves written progress notes in your account. Romania is 5 hours behind Hanoi in winter and 4 hours behind in summer, and the booking calendar shows each slot in your own time zone. See the booking page or read about Mike.
