IDP Turkiye's session lists show IELTS Academic and General Training on computer, with the same content and timing as paper. You type answers for Listening, Reading and Writing; Speaking is a face-to-face examiner interview. IDP's results and test dates pages give computer results as 1 to 5 days; its computer page words it slightly differently.

Price: TRY 1,704.22 for a 60-minute one-to-one lesson; TRY 473.40 for the paid 30-minute trial. Amounts use the same price tiers as the booking page, in your local currency at exchange rates set on 6 October 2026. The booking page shows the exact amount before you pay, and PayPal charges the US-dollar equivalent (USD 34.66 for a 60-minute lesson).

You can also choose a 2-hour lesson on the booking page; the price is shown there before you pay.

In Turkey, IDP's published session lists show IELTS Academic and General Training on computer: you type your Listening, Reading and Writing answers on screen, and Speaking stays a live conversation with an examiner. Band Booster IELTS is a private tutor, not a test centre or the exam board. Mike, a CELTA-certified teacher based in Hanoi, teaches one-to-one on Google Meet, in English.

Is IELTS in Turkey on computer or on paper?

For the sessions IDP lists in Turkey, it is on computer. IDP's Turkiye test dates page lists IELTS Academic and General Training as taken at the test centre on computer, and it does not mention paper sessions at all. IDP's other pages still describe a paper test, and an IDP article says computer tests run seven days a week, up to three times a day, while paper tests run at most four times a month. That is IDP's own statement, not a promise of availability. Because the pages are not uniform, open the session finder and see what is actually offered for your city and month before you plan around either format. If you are looking at a British Council centre, check the British Council's own Turkiye pages for its sessions. For centres by city, see IELTS test centres in Turkey.

What changes on a computer?

Less than most people expect. IDP's page on computer-based IELTS says the format, question types, section timing and content are the same as on paper, and that the difference is the test-day experience. ielts.org's ways to take IELTS page describes the same split.

SectionOn a computer
ListeningQuestions on screen, answers typed. IDP says you can also take notes on paper.
ReadingPassages and questions on screen, answers typed. IDP mentions highlighting and note functions.
WritingTask 1 and Task 2 typed on screen.
SpeakingNot on a computer: a face-to-face conversation with a trained examiner (ielts.org).

You do not need your own computer. IDP says the computer and headphones are provided at the test centre. There is also a help button during the test and some display settings, such as font size, according to the same page.

Writing on Paper

ielts.org says Writing on Paper is available in selected countries as an option for IELTS on computer. None of the pages read for this guide confirmed it for Turkey, so ask IDP or check the finder before assuming you can handwrite Writing.

How does Speaking work?

ielts.org describes Speaking as a face-to-face conversation with a trained examiner, and it is not done on a computer. IDP's computer page says it takes place before or after the other sections and that you may be able to choose a Speaking time. The test dates page does not say whether it falls on the same day, so follow your booking confirmation. If IDP has to change the time for unforeseen reasons, its page says it will tell you by email or phone.

How long do results take?

IDP's own pages give slightly different answers, so treat these as typical, not promised.

  • IDP's results page and test dates page: 1 to 5 days for computer-delivered IELTS.
  • IDP's computer page: 3 to 5 working days in its main text, with other figures in its headings.
  • ielts.org: 1 to 5 days after test completion.
  • IDP's results page gives a longer time for paper-based tests, which is another reason to check the format of your session.

IDP's results page says you see computer results by logging in to your IDP account, that online results stay viewable for 28 days from the test date, and that online results are not an official document. Leave a margin before any deadline. For the report form itself, see results and TRF (in Turkish).

IELTS Online is a different thing

IELTS Online, taken at home, is a separate test. ielts.org says it is for Academic only, Speaking is by video call, results come in 6 to 8 days, and each organisation decides whether to accept it. Read IELTS Online in Turkey before choosing it.

How to practise for the screen

  • Try IDP's practice and familiarisation material for computer-based IELTS, which its page links to.
  • Type both Writing tasks under a timer, in a plain editor that shows a word count.
  • Practise entering Listening answers while you listen, and read whole Reading passages on a screen.
  • Practise Speaking aloud with a person, in the real interview format.

These are a teacher's general suggestions, not guidance from IDP.

How lessons with Mike can help with this

Band Booster IELTS is a private tutoring service. It is not a test centre or the exam board, it does not register candidates or set fees, and a lesson is practice, not the test. Mike is Cambridge CELTA-certified, based in Hanoi, and teaches every session himself, live on Google Meet in English. His own IELTS result is 8.5 in Speaking (about Mike). He has 12+ years teaching English and IELTS in Vietnam, Turkey and Iran.

For Writing, you can type Task 1 and Task 2 under a timer and have them marked against the public band descriptors. For Speaking, you practise Parts 1 to 3 in the real format and get feedback in the moment. No band is promised: progress depends on your starting point and the work between sessions. The booking page shows each slot in your own time zone, and the exact price before you pay. See the online IELTS tutor page for Turkey for how booking works.
