Which ID can you register with?
IDP Türkiye's English booking page says you can only book your IELTS test with a valid ID or passport. Its Turkish-language booking checklist is more specific: the document can be a Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Kimlik Kartı (the T.C. identity card) or a valid passport. When you register, check the booking system for exactly what it accepts.
Everything here is scoped to IDP Türkiye. If you register with another provider, read its booking rules on its own site.
The registration steps
- Choose a centre, date and format on IDP's test dates page.
- Enter your details carefully. As general advice (not an IDP step), it helps to have the document you will use in front of you.
- Upload an image of that ID or passport. The checklist says you upload it to the registration system as part of registering.
- Pay in the online system. IDP says you can pay the exam fee by credit card or transfer there, or in cash at its offices.
- Keep your confirmation. As general advice, note which document you registered with.
Fees and test dates change, so check the provider's page for the current figures.
Same document. IDP says to bring the same identification document you used when registering. If you registered with a passport, do not turn up with only an identity card.
When does registration close?
IDP's English booking page lists two cut-off times:
| Format | Cut-off listed by IDP |
|---|---|
| Paper-based IELTS | 24 hours before the test |
| IELTS on computer | 3 days before the test |
Book well ahead and check the booking system for your own session, since it shows the current position. For the formats themselves, see IELTS on computer in Turkey.
Under 18, and special arrangements
IDP says applicants under 18 need parental consent when booking, and the checklist says a parent or guardian must give written consent. If you need special arrangements, IDP says you must tell your test centre at least six weeks before your chosen date. Without the centre's approval, the exam follows standard conditions.
IELTS for UKVI
IELTS for UKVI is a separate version of the test, and IDP says postponement and cancellation requests differ between IELTS and IELTS for UKVI. Read IELTS for UKVI in Turkey and check the current rules on the official pages before booking that version.
What happens on test day
IDP Türkiye's test day page describes this routine:
- Bring your ID. Bring the passport or T.C. identity card you registered with. It is checked before you enter the test room and again during the test.
- Arrive early with all required documents. IDP says venue procedures can vary, so follow your confirmation.
- Hand in your belongings after you register and before the invigilator takes you to your seat. After that point you cannot talk to other candidates.
- Photo and fingerprint. At the room entrance your photo is taken and your fingerprint is scanned with an electronic scanner. IDP says no image of the finger is kept, and the scan is matched when you leave and return to the test area.
- During the test. If you have a question, raise your hand. On computer-based IELTS, note-taking and highlighting are available.
- Speaking. It has three parts and, IDP says, is recorded.
At the end of the test you collect your belongings. IDP's page does not describe breaks, so read your confirmation email for the schedule of your own session.
How lessons with Mike can help with this
Band Booster IELTS does not register candidates or set fees, and a lesson is practice, not the test. What Mike can do is prepare you for the day itself. He is a Cambridge CELTA-certified teacher in Hanoi who teaches every session himself, live on Google Meet, in English; his own IELTS result includes 8.5 in Speaking (about Mike).
He runs Speaking Parts 1 to 3 in the real format with feedback in the moment, and marks Writing Task 1 and Task 2 against the public band descriptors. Progress notes are left in your account. No band or timeline is promised. The booking page shows each slot in your own time zone and your price before you pay; a paid 30-minute trial is available once, on your first booking.
