The venue facts here were read on ielts.org's test-centre finder for Turkey and on IDP's Turkey test-dates page in October 2026. Both lists change, and sessions open and close from hour to hour, so this page gives no exam dates and no fees. Confirm the venue, format and date on the provider's page before you pay.
Two providers, two lists
IELTS is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP IELTS and Cambridge University Press & Assessment, according to ielts.org. The venues on ielts.org's Turkey list are run by British Council or IDP IELTS. IDP also publishes its own centre list, so there are two lists to compare. They overlap but are not the same.
| Source | What it shows |
|---|---|
| IDP Turkey finder | 11 test centres, plus a test-dates page for 17 cities |
| ielts.org finder | 57 results from British Council and IDP IELTS, with a city filter of 13 cities |
The city filter on ielts.org shows Istanbul under several spellings, including separate Asian side and European side entries. Treat the numbers as a guide to how many listings exist, and open the listings themselves to see the venues.
IDP's 11 centres
IDP's own finder shows 11 centres in seven cities:
- Istanbul: five centres, named by IDP as Mecidiyeköy, Kadıköy (Anadolu Yakası), Avcılar, Bakırköy and Vadi İstanbul.
- Other cities: Ankara, Izmir, Adana, Antalya, Bursa and Gaziantep. The district for each is shown on IDP's page.
Further down the same page, IDP links to test-date pages for Bodrum, Eskişehir, Hatay, Kayseri, Konya, Malatya, Mersin, Muğla, Trabzon and Van as well. A city that has a test-date page but no centre in the 11-centre list is not necessarily a mistake: IDP's Van page describes Van as one of its designated test cities in Türkiye, although Van is not among the 11 centres. Which cities show open sessions changes constantly, so check the live page.
What ielts.org adds
ielts.org's city filter for Turkey lists Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Bursa, Erzurum, Gaziantep, Istanbul (Asian and European sides), Izmir, Kocaeli, Mersin, Muğla, Samsun and Van. Compared with IDP's 11-centre list, that adds Erzurum, Kocaeli, Mersin, Muğla, Samsun and Van as places where a listing exists. The British Council's own Türkiye pages could not be checked for this page, so its fees, dates and booking rules are not described here: read them on the British Council's site.
The tags on ielts.org
ielts.org marks listings with tags. These are the ones shown for Turkey:
- Computer
- Computer (Writing on Paper)
- One Skill Retake
- UKVI Approved
Open the listing and the provider's page to see exactly what a tag covers for that venue before you book.
IDP's Turkey page also lists IELTS Academic and General Training, the UKVI versions, Life Skills and One Skill Retake. Choose the venue after you know which version you need, and check on the provider's page which versions that venue offers. For the difference between Academic and General Training, see Academic or General Training. The UKVI versions have their own page, IELTS for UKVI in Turkey, and the retake is explained in IELTS One Skill Retake.
Choosing a city
- Decide the version of the test you need (Academic, General Training, UKVI or Life Skills).
- Search both providers: IDP's finder and the ielts.org list for your city.
- If your city has no centre of its own, look at the nearest listed city and the journey, and check the live session list.
- Read the provider's rules for identification, changes and cancellation before you pay. On its Van page IDP states that a valid passport or Turkish national ID card is needed at registration and must be shown on test day; check the same rule on the page of the provider you book with, including the British Council. See booking IELTS in Turkey.
For the cities with their own pages on this site, see Istanbul. For how the computer-delivered test differs from paper, read IELTS on computer in Turkey.
Results
IDP says results for computer-delivered tests are usually released within 1 to 5 days. That is IDP's statement for its own tests; confirm the timing for your booking.
How lessons with Mike can help with this
Band Booster IELTS is a private tutoring service, not a test centre. It does not register candidates, set exam fees or dates, or act for IDP or the British Council. You book the test with a provider. What Mike offers is preparation: Mike, a Cambridge CELTA-certified teacher based in Hanoi, Vietnam, with 12+ years teaching English and IELTS in Vietnam, Turkey and Iran and an own IELTS result of 8.5 in Speaking, teaches every session himself, live on Google Meet, in English.
He marks Writing Task 1 and Task 2 against the public band descriptors, runs Speaking Parts 1 to 3 in the real format with feedback in the moment, and leaves written progress notes in your account. The booking page shows each slot in your own time zone and your exact price before payment; PayPal charges the US-dollar equivalent. See online IELTS lessons for Turkey and About Mike.
