When does the result appear?
This page covers IELTS on Computer, and the sources do not give one single figure for the wait. IDP's Irish results page says computer results arrive 1-5 days after the test. A Dublin venue operator's FAQ says results are viewable online 2 to 5 calendar days after the test date, and its results page says a result is likely within 2 days.
Read these as a range, not a promise: most people see a result within a few days, and the exact day depends on the test and the provider. Do not plan an application deadline around the shortest figure.
| Question | What the page says | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Computer result timing | 1-5 days | IDP Ireland |
| Computer result timing | 2 to 5 calendar days online; likely within 2 days | Dublin venue operator (FAQ and results page) |
| Result by phone, email, fax | Not given out | Both |
| Report form validity | Two years | IDP Ireland |
| Re-mark turnaround | 2 hours to 21 days, or normally 2-4 weeks | IDP; venue operator |
Where do you see it?
- If you booked through IDP, IDP says computer results are checked in your IDP account, using the passport or ID number you gave when registering.
- If you booked at the Dublin venue operator's centre, its FAQ says you receive an email when results are ready, then log in to the test taker portal to view them.
- Neither source gives results by phone, fax, text or email.
IDP also says results stay viewable online for 28 days and that this online view is not official confirmation of your performance. Check your provider's page for how to keep a copy of your result.
The Test Report Form and electronic copies
The TRF is the official record. IDP says a TRF is valid for two years, and that an e-TRF, the digital version, is available for IELTS on Computer at eligible centres: you log in, open your results and download it. The venue operator's results page says physical TRFs are not issued for IELTS on Computer unless the receiving organisation will not accept the electronic copy.
Many organisations check a result directly with the provider instead of relying on your copy. The ielts.org results section has links on sharing and verifying scores; check the receiving organisation's own page for what it accepts.
Sending your result to organisations
IDP says up to five copies are sent electronically to organisations listed on your application form, and further copies can be requested, possibly with administrative charges. The venue operator's FAQ also says up to five institutions, and says you can request this when making the application. So the practical rule is to list your recipients when you book. Fees are set by the provider; this site does not state them.
Asking for a re-mark
If you think a score is wrong, the formal route is an Enquiry on Results (EOR). IDP says senior examiners who do not know the original marks re-mark the papers, a new TRF is issued if the score changes, and the fee is refunded if a band changes. The Dublin venue operator's FAQ words the refund differently: it says a refund applies if your score improves. Check which wording applies to your own provider. The ielts.org results section also links to its own pages on score corrections, so read the current rule there too.
The timing and deadline are where the sources differ:
- IDP gives 2 hours to 21 days for the outcome, and says to contact the centre if you have heard nothing after 21 days. It states no application deadline.
- The venue operator's FAQ also says 2-21 days and does not state a deadline to apply, and says the request is made through the test taker portal; its results page says to apply at the booking centre within six weeks and expect 2-4 weeks.
Because the figures and routes differ, ask your own centre for its current deadline and method before you pay anything, and apply early. For the request itself, use the portal or centre the provider names, not a third party.
How lessons with Mike can help with this
Mike does not issue, change or verify results, and he is not a test centre. What he can do is help you use the time around a result. If a score was lower in one skill than you hoped, you can book a one-to-one lesson on that skill, live on Google Meet, in English, with Writing marked against the public band descriptors or Speaking practised in the real three-part format. Mike is CELTA-certified, based in Hanoi, and his own IELTS result is 8.5 in Speaking. See About Mike or choose a time; the calendar shows each slot in your own time zone. For the test itself, see IELTS on computer in Ireland and the One Skill Retake page.
