As listed on ielts.org on 31 October 2026, IELTS in Ireland is held at seven venues in three cities: Dublin, Galway and Cork. Band Booster IELTS is not a test centre: Mike, a CELTA-certified teacher based in Hanoi, teaches one-to-one lessons live on Google Meet, in English, and you register for the test with the provider yourself.

How many IELTS test centres are there in Ireland?

The ielts.org test-centre finder for Ireland, read on 31 October 2026, shows seven distinct venues: four in Dublin, two in Galway and one in Cork. The finder is dynamic, so treat any list, including this one, as a snapshot and check the finder again before you book.

The count needs a caveat. The page header said "Showing 10 results for Ireland". Those ten entries were nine venue cards, where two venues (Dame Court and the Foley Street venue) each appear twice, plus one entry for IELTS Online, which has no address and carries a booking link to the provider. Counting each venue once gives seven.

The venues by city

Names of language schools and companies hosting a venue are left out here; addresses are given as the finder lists them. Each venue also has its own page on ielts.org with the tests it offers.

No venue in Limerick appears in the finder. Venue-by-venue detail is on the Dublin page and the Cork, Galway and Limerick page linked at the end.

Which formats and tests are listed?

  • Format. Every one of the nine venue cards carries the tags "Computer" and "One Skill Retake" (the IELTS Online entry shows no tags). The venue pages for Cork and Glasnevin list Academic and General Training, tagged Computer.
  • Paper. ielts.org says that from mid-2026 it will no longer offer IELTS as a paper-based test, that a Writing on Paper option will be introduced in selected markets, and that exact timelines vary by market. No Irish venue page read shows a paper option.
  • UKVI and Life Skills. The Dame Court listings include UKVI Academic, UKVI General Training and Life Skills A1 and B1, and in the finder only that venue carries the "UKVI Approved" tag. This page only reports what is listed; it does not cover Life Skills.
  • IELTS Online. The finder also shows an entry for an Academic test taken online, with a booking link. Check with the provider whether it is accepted for your purpose.

Two booking routes

Six of the seven venues are listed under the British Council in the finder. The venue pages read for Glasnevin, Cork and Dame Court send their "Book A Test" buttons to the British Council's registration site; check the button on the venue you choose. The seventh, Exam Centre of Ireland in Dublin, is the one centre listed on IDP's Irish test dates page, which also shows "One Skill Retake available". IDP's page for that centre lists IELTS Academic and General Training on computer.

Both routes are the test providers' own. This page links them and does not recommend one over the other. Dates and fees are set by the providers and change, so this page states none: look at the booking page of the venue you choose.

Where the sources disagree

  • Exam Centre of Ireland address. IDP's pages give Tom Darby House, 54 Parnell Square West, Dublin 1, D01 H0X9. The ielts.org finder gives Whitworth Building, Morning Star Avenue, North Brunswick Street, Dublin 7. Use the address on your booking confirmation.
  • Computer or paper at IDP. IDP's Irish test dates page says you can choose between computer and paper formats at a centre near you, while its page for the Dublin centre shows only computer sessions. Confirm the format when you book.

How lessons with Mike can help with this

Band Booster IELTS does not register candidates, choose centres or set fees. What it offers is preparation: one-to-one IELTS and General English lessons, 60 minutes, live on Google Meet, in English. Mike marks Writing Task 1 and Task 2 against the public band descriptors, runs Speaking Parts 1 to 3 in the real format with feedback in the moment, and leaves written progress notes in your account. His own IELTS result is 8.5 in Speaking; see about Mike.

Because the listed venues test on computer, it helps to practise typing Writing answers under a timer. The booking page shows each slot in your own time zone, and the exact price before you pay; PayPal charges the US-dollar equivalent. A paid 30-minute trial can be taken once, on your first booking, and a lesson can be rescheduled at no charge up to 12 hours before the slot. No band or timeline is promised.

Common questions

How many IELTS test centres are there in Ireland?

On 31 October 2026 the ielts.org finder listed seven distinct venues: four in Dublin, two in Galway and one in Cork. The header said ten results because some venues appear twice and one entry is IELTS Online. Check the finder again before you book, as it changes.

Is there an IELTS test centre in Limerick?

No Limerick venue appeared in the ielts.org finder for Ireland on 31 October 2026. The listed cities were Dublin, Galway and Cork.

Can I take IELTS on paper in Ireland?

Every venue card in the finder was tagged Computer, and ielts.org says it will no longer offer paper-based IELTS from mid-2026, with a Writing on Paper option planned in selected markets and timelines varying by market. IDP's Irish test dates page still mentions a choice of formats, so confirm the format on the booking page before you pay.

Which venue offers IELTS for UKVI?

In the finder, only the Dame Court listing in Dublin 2 carried the UKVI Approved tag, and its venue page lists UKVI Academic and UKVI General Training on computer. Check the venue page and your receiving organisation's requirement before booking.

Who do I book with, IDP or the British Council?

It depends on the venue. Six listed venues are listed under the British Council, and IDP's Irish site lists one centre, Exam Centre of Ireland in Dublin. Choose the venue and date first, then book through the provider that runs it.

Does Band Booster IELTS run test centres or register me for the test?

No. Band Booster IELTS is a private tutoring service. It does not register candidates, run venues or set fees. You register with the test provider, and lessons with Mike are preparation only.

Can I have lessons if I live in Ireland?

Yes. Lessons are one-to-one, live on Google Meet, in English, and the booking calendar shows each slot in your own time zone. Hanoi is 7 hours ahead of Ireland in winter and 6 hours ahead in summer. The Meet link arrives by email right after payment.
