Dublin has four IELTS venues on the lists we checked. The list below comes from the ielts.org test centre directory for Ireland, the IDP Ireland centre page and the venue operator's location page for Dame Court. The directory shows six Dublin rows, but two venues are each listed twice, so there are four places.
The four venues at a glance
| Area | Address as listed | Route | Formats listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dublin 2, city centre | 15/16 Dame Court, D02 R208 | British Council route | Computer; tagged UKVI Approved |
| Dublin 9, Glasnevin | Mcnulty Building, DCU Glasnevin campus | British Council route | Academic and General Training, computer |
| Dublin 1, north inner city | The Steelworks, Foley Street, D01 X997 | British Council route | Academic, computer |
| Dublin 7 or Dublin 1 | Exam Centre of Ireland: see the address conflict below | IDP | Academic and General Training, computer |
You book through the provider's own booking page, so check the rules for changes, results and ID on that page.
Dame Court, Dublin 2
This venue is in the city centre, close to Trinity College, in a separate building from the operator's main office at 31 Dame Street. The operator's page lists Dublin Bus, Luas and DART for travel inside Dublin and national bus and rail services from outside the city. It says on-street parking is limited and the closest car park is a five-minute walk away on Drury Street.
On ielts.org it is the only Dublin venue carrying the UKVI Approved tag. The individual listing shows UKVI Academic, UKVI General Training and Life Skills A1. It does not show a plain Academic test, even though the country list shows computer format. If you need a particular test type, confirm it on the booking page. Our page on UKVI and Life Skills in Ireland covers that route.
DCU Glasnevin, Dublin 9
ielts.org lists the venue as the Mcnulty Building on the Dublin City University Glasnevin campus. Academic and General Training are both shown on computer. The listing gives no phone number or email, only a booking link, and no opening hours. It does not list UKVI.
Foley Street, Dublin 1
This venue is at The Steelworks on Foley Street, postcode D01 X997. The listing shows the Academic test on computer, with a website link but no phone number or email. UKVI is not listed on its page.
Exam Centre of Ireland: two addresses
This is the IDP venue, and the two official sources disagree on the address.
- ielts.org lists Whitworth Building, Morning Star Avenue, North Brunswick Street, Dublin 7.
- IDP Ireland lists Tom Darby House, 54 Parnell Square West, Dublin 1, D01 H0X9, with opening hours of 9 AM to 6 PM.
Both sources give the phone number +353 1 872 6600. We cannot tell from the pages which address is current. Do not rely on either one alone. Use the address printed in your booking confirmation, and contact IDP if the confirmation and the map do not match. IDP's page shows every session as computer-delivered, with One Skill Retake available.
Formats and the move to computer
Every Dublin venue above is listed as computer. IDP Ireland says that from 27 June 2026 all IELTS tests are delivered on computer, with the same format, questions and scoring as on paper. Our page on IELTS on computer in Ireland explains what changes for candidates.
One Skill Retake is shown for the venues in the ielts.org country list, but the individual pages for Dame Court, DCU and Foley Street do not show it. Check the booking page for the session you want. Our page on One Skill Retake in Ireland goes through who accepts it.
Before you choose a venue
- Decide the test type: Academic, General Training or a UKVI version, if your application names one.
- Pick the provider route, then open that provider's booking page and look at the venues and sessions shown for your dates.
- Check the address on the booking page itself, and again in the confirmation.
- Read the ID and test-day rules on the page of the provider you booked with. See booking IELTS in Ireland.
Fees and dates change, so this page states neither. The booking pages show them for each session. For centres outside Dublin, see Cork, Galway and Limerick, and for the national picture, test centres in Ireland.
Not a test centre. We do not register candidates, set fees or run exams. Everything about venues comes from the official pages linked above, which can change.
How lessons with Mike can help with this
Choosing a venue is only part of the preparation. Mike teaches IELTS Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking one-to-one, live on Google Meet, in English. He holds a Cambridge CELTA (July 2017), is based in Hanoi, Vietnam, and scored 8.5 in Speaking on the test himself. Lessons are 60 minutes, and the booking calendar shows each slot in your own time zone. Dublin is on GMT in winter and IST in summer, while Hanoi stays at UTC+7, so Hanoi is 7 hours ahead in winter and 6 hours ahead in summer.
With a computer-delivered test in view, Mike marks Writing Task 1 and Task 2 against the public band descriptors and runs Speaking Parts 1 to 3 in the real format. You can see the open slots or read more about Mike.
