What the official lists show outside Dublin
The IELTS partners' directory at ielts.org showed "10 results for Ireland" when this page was written. Those results include one online listing and more than one entry for some Dublin venues. Counting only the entries that are physical venues, three are outside Dublin: one in Cork and two in Galway. None is in Limerick. All physical venues are listed as computer-delivered, with Academic and General Training.
| City | Address as the listing prints it | Tests and format |
|---|---|---|
| Cork | St. Patrick's Bridge, Cork | Academic and General Training, computer |
| Galway | Fairgreen House, Fairgreen Road (opposite the bus station) | Academic and General Training, computer |
| Galway | The Bridge Mills, Galway, H91 R1WF | Academic and General Training, computer |
| Limerick | No venue listed | Not applicable |
Directories change, so open the ielts.org list before you plan a journey. This page gives addresses and providers, not the names of the businesses that host the rooms, because the address is what you need on the day.
Cork
The Cork listing on ielts.org gives the address "St. Patrick's Bridge, Cork" and shows Academic and General Training on computer, with a booking link for each. The listing gives a street name only, with no building number or postcode, so use your booking confirmation for the exact room before you travel.
Galway has two listed venues
The first is at Fairgreen House, Fairgreen Road. The ielts.org entry describes it as opposite the bus station. A test-centre operator's Galway page adds practical detail: the room is on the second floor with stairs and a lift, it is less than five minutes' walk from Eyre Square, it sits between the main train station and the bus station, and paid parking is beside the building. That page's headings and the name it gives the host differ from ielts.org, so treat the street address as the reliable part.
The second is The Bridge Mills, Galway, H91 R1WF, according to its ielts.org entry, which shows Academic and General Training on computer.
Both Galway entries show a fee, and the two fees are not the same. This page states no amounts: the fee depends on the venue you choose, so read it on the entry you book, which also warns that prices may vary.
Limerick: no listed venue
People do search for IELTS in Limerick, but neither source we checked lists a venue there. The ielts.org list for Ireland has no Limerick entry, and IDP's Irish test dates page lists a single centre, in Dublin. We could not confirm that you can sit the test in Limerick. If you live there, plan on travelling to the nearest listed city, and check the provider's booking page, which shows what is on offer on the day you look.
What each source lists
- IDP: its Irish page lists one centre, in Dublin, with One Skill Retake. It names no centre outside Dublin.
- ielts.org directory: the Cork and Galway venues above appear there, each with its own entry and a booking link. The entries are labelled with the British Council name, so check on the entry which provider takes the booking.
So if Cork or Galway is your nearest city, the entry for the venue you choose on ielts.org is where to start. For Dublin venues see our Dublin page, and for the whole country our Ireland overview.
What to check before you book
- Open the venue entry on ielts.org and confirm the test you need (Academic or General Training) is offered there.
- Read the fee and the date options on the booking page itself; they are set by the provider, not by us.
- Check the identity rules on the booking page, and what to bring on the day.
- Work out the travel. The Fairgreen House venue is close to the bus and train stations; for Cork and Limerick, plan the journey and any overnight stay before you pick a date.
- Check the change and cancellation rules before you pay.
Band Booster IELTS is a private tutor. We are not a test centre, we do not take registrations, and we do not set fees or dates.
How lessons with Mike can help with this
Where you sit the test is a logistics question, and we cannot choose a venue for you. What we can help with is the preparation. Mike, a CELTA-certified teacher based in Hanoi with 8.5 in Speaking in his own IELTS result, teaches every lesson himself, one to one, live on Google Meet, in English. He marks Writing Task 1 and Task 2 against the public band descriptors, runs Speaking Parts 1 to 3 in the real format with feedback in the moment, and leaves written progress notes in your account.
The booking calendar shows each slot in your own time zone. Ireland is on GMT in winter and IST in summer, and Hanoi is seven hours ahead in winter and six in summer, so check the time shown before you confirm. Every venue listed here is computer-delivered, so it is worth practising typing your Writing answers under time. Lessons last 60 minutes, and you can reschedule at no charge up to 12 hours before the slot. A paid 30-minute trial is available once, on your first booking. Choose a time on the booking page, where your price is shown before you pay, or read more about Mike.
